Shifting Days

Hello JUDDDers! I'm new to this WOE and so far I dig it. I did have a question though, and would like your input. I have a weekly girls' dinner that varies day of the week depending who hosts. Obviously, I prefer that it falls on my UD! Last week that worked fine, but this week it's falling on a DD. I decided to do 2 DDs in a row, so that Wednesday becomes up UD. Is this ok? Crazy? Please share how you handle life with this WOE :)

Seems I asked that question once and was not recommended to do so. I would just do a medium day (MD), or save all your DD calories for dinner. I've had to do that before and I ate 500 cal. or as close as I could come to it. Other more seasoned members may be able to offer more extensive suggestions. Hope that helps some anyway:)

Don't recommend 2 DDs. Either try a Medium Day 60% on Dr Js calculator, or even 2 UDs in a row.

Good advice here from a veteran JUDDDER who is on maintenance.

This happens to me frequently; I just save all my calories for dinner and make sure that I eat mostly salad and some protein. No appetizer, desserts or wine. (whine!)

You don't want to risk the dreaded starvation mode-- that's the reason that we never do two DD's in a row.
I think you'll be surprised how over time at how you learn to enjoy the conversation and the company and lose focus on the food part when it's a DD.

Doing 2 DDs in a row can be hard work. If you know you can fast till dinner time and then keep close to your DD allowance, you'd get away with keeping your rotations normal for your meal out.

However, if that would blight the event, you might as well have 2 UDs and follow with a DD straight afterwards. Not 2 UUADs (up up and away days) though!!!

I've often had to juggle social events like this and it's worked for me no problem.
JUDDD is very forgiving!

Yep, as weird as it sounds two uds or a md and a ud are better than two dds in a row :)

You have received some very good advice here. I would mention, if you do this once a week, having 2 UD's or even a MD that often (I would think) will hinder your weight loss efforts. Adjusting days once every couple months, probably not a huge deal....several times a month, could cause problems. Maybe others won't agree, I would just be concerned doing it very often. Heck, maybe this will be the only week there's an issue?? Not sure how important it is that you EAT with these girls weekly, maybe show up "accidentally" late and say, OOPS I already ate? I have found some creative ways of bowing out of having to eat in social situations on DD's since starting JUDDD. MIght work for you too!

I hate MDs, but if you decide to do a MD it should be DD, MD, UD- think small, medium, large.

Thanks for all the replies! Today actually ended up accidentally being a MD. I think my UD yesterday was an UUD and it made me have big cravings. So tomorrow will be a DD and that actually works out...although I agree that this isn't something I want to contend with switching weekly. But I definitely can handle saving my cals if it happens to fall on an UD again. Most of the girls are on some sort of "diet" and girls dinner ends up being everyone's cheat days. Glad to hear that some of shifted days successfully! I'm still working on recovering from UD and not going crazy on them...
