Had a good UD yesterday and I stayed at about 127 under my UD number, but I kind of like to do that just in case a portion or serving wasn't exactly calculated right. Have a wonderful Satuday/weekend!

B: coffee w/1 tbsp h/h =20

L: 0 or broth for 10

D: 2 c boiled potatoes w/plain greek yogurt = 162 (calorie counter search engine says 66 cal a cup for boiled potato.

Happy Eating JUDD BUDDS!

D: Asian stir fry with veggies & garlic marinated chicken. I'll probably throw in some shiratake noodles & will skip the egg rolls and pot stickers that we'll make for the boys. Need to measure but will aim for under 400.

Can I ask a question? How many of you actually did the shakes for induction? If so, did that make a difference?

I'm on my first DD and I was just planning on Atkins shakes and maybe a protein bar. I have had tea so far, but I feel okay. I'm going to take a nap soon, so that'll kill some time. LOL.

I bought them, planning to do that for my first DDs, but never used them. They're still in my fridge. Do whatever you think will work best for you! If you know calories in your favorite low cal foods, you can just use that OR you can do the shakes/bars if you like them. Good luck!!!

I had coffee w/ splashes of skim this morning. Had planned on doing an afternoon latte and nothing else, but my dad informed me he's taking my family out for dinner tonight. Looks like I'll fast all day and see what's super low cal on the menu at whatever restaurant he chooses later. Hopefully a house salad with ff dressing. We'll see!

I used shakes but not the Atkins ones. I used the Pure Protein. I did shakes so I did not have to wrooy or obsess about what to eat and I do fine on liquids. Later I have used the shakes when traveling or at an event on a DD. I really like the Pure Protein ones at 120 calories. The only flavor I can find locally is chocolate but that is fine.

Would not know if it made a difference but it did help me get a handle on appetite and DD calories. Then after 2 weeks of 500 calories I dropped to less than 300 on DD's for the rest of my journey.

I sometimes still use shakes or packaged bars when I need something on the go and dont' want to think about my DD cals. The main reason Dr J recommends shakes and such is because they are known entities - no guesswork, estimating, etc and it makes it easier to stick to the true 500 or less. Its more ease-of-application than necessary-for-success!

I didn't do shakes but I can see how it would be easier that way. I have often thought I may start doing shakes(after 2 months On juddd already lol) to make it easy. I just have never tried them so don't know if they taste good.

The Pure Protein ones Adi mentioned are quite yummy & they are, as far as I know, the highest protein/lowest cal ones on the market - so more bang for your buck and lots of protein to keep you satisfied.

I've also got several powdered shake protein mixes in my cupboard along with recipes for using things like powdered peanut butter and diet pudding mix powder to make some lovely flavored shakes. It worked great when I was doing straight low cal. I've not had as many now that I'm JUDDDing - the shakes are kinda high cal for the way I like to do my DDs (either potatoes or day long fast and just dinner) and they're not good enough to use UD cals for. But I still use them occasionally when I'm either stuck on a day or need to top off an UD.

Where do you find your shakes at? Which stores carry them (the names of the stores where you've found them)? Are they in cans - like soda cans? I looked on Amazon and I'll be looking in my grocery store when I go, but wanted to know if like I had to go to Whole Foods or something... The Atkins shakes are higher in calories, and lower in protein, so if I can do better (nutritionally), I'd like to. I purchased a weeks worth and just think that the shakes may help me do better for accountability.

Adi, how long did it take you to lose the weight? Have you followed pretty consistently JUDD? Are you doing any variation? Thanks for the info!

I'm starting week 5 and I used and still use shakes if I'm overly busy on a DD. I find them to be filling and convenient. At first they really helped with keeping my calorie intake down. Now I just like a little chocolate in my life. I think you should do whatever works for you.

I went to Walmart and there were dozens to choose from. I honestly selected Equate brand which was reasonably priced and came in the chocolate variety.

As planned. Snacked on some pickled green beans. Weaning back from way high did while I was away, to 500+, back to my 450'days.

Still, happy with today .
