5/2 with Juddding - March 10 - 16, who is still with me?

Another week! So far so good with this, I'm doing the JUDD numbers but only 2 DD a week - Monday and Thursday!

All The Very Best To Everyone! :shake::heart::clap:

Carly 03-10-2013 11:21 AM

I'm watching with interest still. I'll be considering it after my April trip to Florida!

SlimNana 03-10-2013 12:41 PM

I'm still sticking with 5.2! My 2 fasting days of 500 cal. max. will also be on Mon. & Thur. I'm looking forward to fasting tomorrow, after a weekend of eating days that included pizza, wine, popcorn, cereal & girl scout thin mint cookies. :yummy:

ergowoman 03-10-2013 01:15 PM

The "New York Times" has an article on 5.2 in the Style section today. It is all the rage across the Pond.

mom23kids 03-10-2013 01:45 PM

Still following along in spirit :D I would like to do a form of it for maintenance, but I've gone back into weight loss mode to lose a few more pounds and right now I'm doing normal JUDDD rotations. I'm another maybe in April person

Kissa 03-10-2013 01:55 PM

125.6 this morning after I threw in an extra DD yesterday. Very nice.

I love 5:2 and will continue with it long term I am certain. I like that if I need too I can always do this extra DD or even go back to regular rotations when I ever I wish.

I just love this freedom to enjoy food and still to have DDs, which I actually love.

Can you post a link? I tried to find it on line but :dunno: :stars:

KeirasMom 03-10-2013 03:11 PM

I'm still in. Hit a new low yesterday at 159.4, after Friday's DD. I don't seem to be bouncing more than a couple of pounds over that, so I'm pleased. :D

kel7298 03-10-2013 04:24 PM

Holding @ 139 - 141 I'm good with that though I wouldn't mind dropping a few more.

Librarygirl 03-10-2013 05:28 PM

I didn't go down at all the last two DDs, so I'm guessing that I'm eating too much. I think I will go back to daily rotations starting tomorrow because I have trouble keeping my UD calories low enough to lose weight with only 2 DDs a week. It is very good to know that this will work for maintenance when I get there though!

BaileysGirl 03-10-2013 06:10 PM

Good Job Dawn & Kelly!! Keep on rockin it!! Can't wait to join you!! Will probably be in May or June though!

Beeb 03-10-2013 07:35 PM

I just hanging around because I like you guys and love to see how everyone is doing. :high5:

lola5k 03-11-2013 01:28 AM

Hi...marking my place. UD for me today. :jumpjoy:

Librarygirl 03-11-2013 05:55 AM

No more 5:2 for me. I don't mind DDs when they help toward my goal, but when they don't make any difference at all that's even worse than ADF. :(

Good luck to all who are doing this for weight loss, and I'll be back in about 58 lbs. :D

Kissa 03-11-2013 07:24 AM

Ha, ha, you'll pop in again I am sure. If not, we'll talk about you behind your back.:rofl::rofl:

TryingJudd 03-11-2013 08:09 AM

Glad it's working for some/most of you but it was not the answer for me. Waay up (5 lbs!) after 2 stellar DDs (<400), 3 low UDs (1400-1500) and 2 UDS with no counting but not going crazy. I expect to lose at least 2 of those pounds with a good DD today since my rings feel tight, I started exercising again this weekend and also, I am a bit, ahem, backed up but still not liking the trend. Maybe in maintenance, but not for weight loss for me. TTFN - wishing you all good luck!

Librarygirl 03-11-2013 08:12 AM

Thank god I didn't actually gain much, but definitely not losing. I do wonder if this had been the first IF plan I had tried if it would have worked better? I don't think people coming in straight from ADF to this will see the same kind of losses, if they don't in fact, gain!

Yes, I will be checking in from time to time to see your progress, Cindy. :D

I also wondered if being eod IF before starting 5:2 caused less weight loss?

Mrs S 03-11-2013 08:21 AM

Sorry to be dense but what does ADF stand for?

Mrs S 03-11-2013 08:23 AM

:stars: Nevermind, just hit me that it's alternate day fasting.

KeirasMom 03-11-2013 08:31 AM

I was losing very slowly toward the end with ADF/JUDDD, and switched to 5:2 for maintenance. I'm still losing very slowly, maybe slightly slower than with JUDDD, but still losing. :dunno:

Librarygirl 03-11-2013 08:38 AM

I think I could lose with 5:2, but only with a lot more diligence. I guess it's easier to just fast eod and eat with relative impunity on UDs (compared to counting every calorie 5 days a week). I'm so far from goal, I just can't hang around anymore to wait and see if the numbers on the scale will start going down.

Average weight loss on 5:2 is 1lb per week

Average weight loss on 5:2 is 1lb per week
by carorees 08 Mar 2013, 13:52

"We have now been collecting data on our progress tracker for over 2 months, with nearly 1500 people contributing, and have some interesting results that can give you an indication of how much weight you can expect to lose on 5:2.

Key points:
* The weekly loss is generally small...around 1lb per week (data from 842 users).
* Some people lose a lot of weight in the first week but then plateau so that after a month or so, such that the weight loss still works out at 1lb per week.
* Some people are lucky and have managed to lose more
* Some people are unlucky and have lost less
* People whose BMI is already in the healthy range are more likely to lose more slowly (around 0.75lb/week)
* People whose BMI is high are more likely to lose quickly (around 1.75-2lb per week)
* Men lose weight faster (1.4lb per week) than women (1lb per week)

For people who choose to fast more often:
* The weekly loss doing 4:3 is pretty much the same as with 5:2 at around 1lb per week (55 users)
* The weekly loss doing ADF is a little bit higher at around 1.2 lb per week (11 users)"

Librarygirl 03-11-2013 09:44 AM

I gave it two weeks and my average loss was 0, with a gain of .6. :)

zagnut 03-11-2013 10:42 AM

I'm sort of here, I have been doing at least 2 DD's a week, sometimes 3, but did get away from strict JUDDD for maintenance. I haven't been counting the regular day calories, but don't go over 600 on a DD and try never to have more than 3 UD in a row.

I'm maintaining doing this 119-121 or so. Would rather have the high number 119 but I'm pretty sure my body will fight me every inch just to maintain 2 lbs less, so I gave in and this is where I will stay unless it comes off on its own lol.

kel7298 03-11-2013 11:53 AM

I was so looking forward to my DD today. Nice not to really have to "think" about food..lol

SlimNana 03-11-2013 12:13 PM

:high5: Who'd have ever thunk that, hugh?

This week instead of doing my Fast Days with a Quest protein bar & Right Light meal replacement shakes, I'm going to try doing a couple "Dukan diet - protein only attack days" to see if that rewards me with that 5:2 ave. 1 lb. weekly loss. :dunno:

I'm strongly considering calling goal @ 140 lbs. - hopefully I can reach that by Easter on the 31st. Then my plan will be to maintain a 5 lb. range between 135-140 over the summer with 5:2. :aprayer:

I had an original goal of 135lbs but decided to call goal last month at 141 after getting weight loss fatigue and stalling. Then, in transitioning to maintenance I lost another 3 pounds without trying. And last week, after being in maintenance for several weeks, I decided to go back into weight loss mode with JUDDD, had two dds so far and have lost another 2 lbs :D I'm now a pound away from my original goal and now want to get closer to 130lbs for my maintenance range. Calling goal and taking a break worked great for me and gave me the breather I needed. It may work well for you to do the same?
