JB Walking Club

This is a thread specifically for walkers.:high5: I've commited to 20-30 minutes a day, so I'm going to post here for accountability! Please join me.

ETA: You can post as many times as you want, i.e., each increment if you're doing your walking in intervals throughout the day, etc.

taghag 03-09-2013 08:15 AM

I do 3 miles a day, time/weather permitting. Also have my beloved FitBit to help me log the miles. It definitely has helped me get to where I am now! :)

svenskamae 03-09-2013 08:43 AM

I'm in. I normally walk about 4-5 miles per day, to get to work and back and to run errands. When the weather gets better, I am going to try to fit in some long morning walks, aiming for 10 miles a day or more. But that probably won't happen until April and the end of icy/snowy sidewalks.

Today, I'll be walking to my local video store and grocery store and back as a start. If the puddles don't freeze, I'll try to fit in an evening walk, too.

Now I have to find my pedometer and replace the battery, or order a new one ... Thanks for getting me going on a new spring walking program.

hot-in-texas 03-09-2013 09:15 AM

I'm in! Don't know what my walking goal is yet. Does it count when it's just on the treadmill?

adillenal 03-09-2013 09:16 AM

I never walk or do any exercise so I think this will help me.

3/09 walked for 20 minutes against the wind. Had to stop to talk to the neighbor then had to go inside to the bathroom and never finished. Hopefully will do that later this evening.

mom23kids 03-09-2013 10:07 AM

I'd love to join in! I've been meaning to start walking regularly, but things keep coming up and I keep pushing it off. I'm going to get off my duff and start! But not today :o:laugh: I've got a kid with norovirus and my dh is working all day today. He won't be home till after dark and I don't feel comfortable walking at night because I can't see the ice on the sidewalks. But, if he happens to get home earlier than planned I'll head out. Otherwise tomorrow for sure :) I'm going to start with a goal of three times a week/3miles a week.

Librarygirl 03-09-2013 12:05 PM

Yeah! Looks like we have a quorum! :) I walked for 30 minutes today at the flea market...really nearly an hour, but since it was start and stop I will only count 30. I may get out again today with the sole purpose of walking, so I'll log that later.

Most definitely! You'll have an advantage on those of us relying on good weather. ;)

JMBM 03-09-2013 12:14 PM

:hiya:I'll join you! I don't have a treadmill so I can't in rainy weather, but will log my miles on days I do. I've been attempting 2 to 3 miles.:high5:

mom23kids 03-10-2013 07:09 AM

Got in my first mile this morning :jumpjoy:

1/3 miles: 3/10-3/16

Librarygirl 03-10-2013 07:09 AM

15 minutes done for me this a.m. It was so nice and cool, and I only needed a sweat shirt over my tee. :) Looking forward to going again later today.

X-post Sara! Yay for us!!! Daylight savings ain't stopping us~! I'm going to measure the mileage in a few minutes.

ETA: 9/10 of a mile...17 minutes, so not too bad considering I haven't been exercising. Pleased with this, and determined to keep it up!

taghag 03-10-2013 01:58 PM

Braved the drizzle and 31 degree windchill for my 3.23 miles, average speed 4.1, duration 47:46. Anger is a great motivator! :)

VioletsGrandMom 03-10-2013 04:33 PM

Congrats to all you walkers! I dont have a treadmill (or room for one) but when I was trying to exercise/walk and the weather was bad, I did Leslie Sansone WATP. I still think walking outside is the best. I am so glad you are all posting - hoping to do this myself soon.

I hope you can do this soon too!! Best feeling in the world is when you are done and you know you did it! :jumpjoy:

I went to the flea market again and walked some...probably added about 15 more minutes to my time, between that and the golf course later (used cart). :)

jaymar 03-10-2013 04:52 PM

Bless you, Cindy...this is a wonderful idea...I am going to try my best..I hope I can start out with ten minutes..somedays my pain is so bad I may not even do that, but it won't hurt for me to try, and also..I will be cheering you all on..yay walkers...you can do it., and whatever you do will be great for you too.:D

JMBM 03-10-2013 06:33 PM

Well won't be walking tomorrow. :annoyed: 100% chance of rain.

Librarygirl 03-11-2013 06:02 AM

I hope to walk this afternoon after work. I am tired this morning and DST is finally kicking my butt! :D Didn't notice it so much yesterday, but of course I didn't have to work. I didn't have time to do *anything* this morning besides get ready to go. ugh...still want to exercise though, if I can.

mom23kids 03-11-2013 06:10 AM

Also raining here today, but I'll take it because that means it's not snowing lol.

taghag 03-11-2013 07:18 AM

Got my extra hour of sunlight but can I have some extra degrees too?? Brrrr........16 degree windchill :(

Got my walk in early, 3.00 miles, 52:02 duration at 3.5 mph.

TryingJudd 03-11-2013 08:14 AM

3.10 - 3.2 miles

My treadmill should be fixed this week hopefully so I can start daily again. Until then I will have to do walking tapes or other fitness videos..

mom23kids 03-12-2013 05:56 AM

Got in a mile last night :)

2/3 miles: 3/10-3/16

zipp2play 03-12-2013 06:02 AM

I would like to JOIN!

I do 5 miles a day M-F. I get up at 4:45 and do 3.1 miles with DH and then over my lunch hour I like to do 2 miles with my coworker!

If the weather is crappy, obviously, I don't get it in! This will help motivate me to MAKE it happen!

Today, thus far, I got in my 3 in the a.m. Aiming for 2 at lunch!

Thank you, I was just thinking that someone has an indoor walking programme but couldn't recall her name -it's Sansone, of course.

JMBM 03-12-2013 06:12 AM

Wow, that's awesome! :high5:

Everyone's doing so well! I didn't do anything extra yesterday, besides walking back and forth to the parking lot and around campus (and home). This morning I set my clock early to walk and it was dark and raining. :( Don't know if I'll get in a walk today either, but I will ASAP.

zipp2play 03-12-2013 11:26 AM

Got my 5 miles in and I did one of my weight routine! (I have 5 one for each day but should have played catch up as I didn't do one yesterday!)
