Glucomannan anyone?
So, the manager at my local vitamin shoppe recommended that I give glucomannan a shot to help ease the hunger and keep me feeling full longer. I must admit that I took one earlier, then two with lunch and it's now almost 4:30 and while I just started to feel a bit peckish, it's manageable. My question is, does this supplement adversely affect weight loss with this particular WOE? I've heard good things about it helping with weight loss even w/out dieting, but I'm not sure if it will be metabolized differently while juddding...I will take 3 with dinner to get me through the evening....(supposed to take 3 with each meal but I wanted to work up to it because it is my first day on it...so far so good)
BTW: I bought it in the capsule form and mix it with 2 tbsp of unsweetened applesauce..there is a danger of the pill swelling up in your throat and choking you lol so I decided to try it this way instead...yes, I count in those calories...haha) |

JUDDers love gluc powder! There are whole threads devoted to recipes for puddings and all kinds of yummy things. It works great in protein shakes! They taste like milk shakes.
I get my glucomannan powder from netrition. |

Here is my newest favorite shake recipe:
Pour 1 container of Muscle Milk Light (chocolate) into blender Add half cup fat free, Lactose Free milk Add half scoop (45 calories worth) of Whey Protein Isolate Add 1 teaspoon Gluc powder Add crushed ice last Blend on high until thick and frosty It's like a milk shake! So yummy. |

I would check at stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, I've never looked in drug stores or regular grocery stores. It's so convenient to buy things on line. I live way out in the boonies, so there's not much shopping available here. We have a really small Mom and Pop grocery store and that's it.

Oh yeah, click on this link: glucomannan powder so you can see what the package looks like. Maybe that will help when you are looking for it in a store.

I've only found it through Netrition or on-line. I shop at WF and TJ's and have never seen it at either place.

I love using netrition. It's a flat shipping fee and everything comes super-fast.
I get lots of things in each order so for me it's worth it. |

I can only find it in capsule form here, and all the health food stores have never heard of it in powder form. I think netrition may be the way to go.

Those dumplings are good in Thai-style broths (fish stock/Tom Yum paste with added kaffir lime leaves and maybe lemongrass and then Holy Basil or coriander/cilantro as the herb in the dumpling). I tend to make dumplings a bit smaller for the Thai-style soup (40-70 out of that mix).
For me, the dumplings also work well if poached in some apple juice and cinnamon, and then served with apple sauce. |
