WOE: A.I. 1/1-1/20; JUDDD 1/21/13, Potatoes as needed
[QUOTE=SlowSure;16301604]My 3rd UD with the Potato Hack and I know from the previous x2 that I can't make the UD calories with potato and condiments. So, I'm heeding the advice of other people who've done it to eat the potato to satiety and I've added in a rice meal. I still won't make my 1800 calories but I'll be nearer it than I would be without the rice.

If I continue with the PH, I may make the DD potato only but for UDs make rice x2 meals with x1 potato meal (and potato snacks if necessary) and see if that gets me nearer to my UD totals.

QUOTE]

I do this too. In fact, yesterday was my first non-potato DD in a long time. I've yet to hack for more than 2 days, I've not made it but I do try to incorporate at least one "hack meal" into each UD as well. Mini-hacks!

Having said that, I think I'm gonna have to hack after this week-end. I've got some stuff that will require I go off plan again - like I had to last week-end. Happy to report that after my bounce last Th, 4 days off plan and 2 good DDs under my belt, I'm back to my low - 185.4. And, since I'm feeling a bit bloated today, I think some of that is water which means that despite being off plan for 4 days, I'm holding steady, and, in fact, in my head I'm calling it a loss because I think some of the weight is water weight. Like how I rationalize that?

Finished my yogurt but still hungry. I think today is going to be one of those "empty" days for me - where no matter what I eat I want more.

Lunch is now Mexican, dinner will still be pizza and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna blow it today because I have no power over the chips & salsa.

Oh well - the power of JUDDD is such that I jump back in it and get back down to it. Firing up the metabolism, right?

Many of my UD's have been like this. Not sure why, have some theories. . . .

Today I creamed some swiss chard from our local farmers market - creamed it in bacon drippings and chopped onion with a splash of aged vinegar. Crumbled bacon into it . . . . Gosh, this is the most satisified I think I've been in weeks!

Mini hacks is a good way to put it, more so from someone with a horsewoman avi

Tonight (day 5) is the first time I'm felt OK since I started. I prefer showers to baths but I usually sit in a hot bath after kayaking in Winter in order to raise my body temperature after sitting so close to icy water for so long. I thought to do that today to try and help the feelings of being so cold: and I don't know whether the coldness would have resolved anyway (with it being day 5) but it helped to warm me up enough to do a reasonable exercise session which is reassuring after my last 2 days.

I now feel OK to continue the PH for another 2 days before reviewing whether or not I feel that I can do it until March 17. Even with the rice, I still ate fewer than 1000 calories which is not good for an UD but better than my previous attempts

OK, I did not have all the ingredients for the coconut chicken soup recipe, so here is what I used
5 cut up chicken thighs(fat trimmed)
1 sliced jalape˝o with seeds
1 tsp chili paste
3 Tbs matchstick carrots
3 green onions, chopped different sizes
1 cup sliced mushrooms
3 smashed garlic cloves
Squeeze of lime juice
1/2 tsp ginger
4 cups coconut milk
1 bottled water.
Dash salt, dash pepper.
Will put chopped cilantro on top before serving.
The recipe called for lemon grass, did not have it, as well as some other ingredients that I didn't have.
Threw it all in the crock pot on high, I will let you know how it turns out.

Ended up with 1510 cals for the day which left me with 231 extra. I know we aren't suppose to carry over calories, however, my son just informed me he is coming home from school and wanted me to go to lunch with him and his new girlfriend. I'm thinking, nooooooo not on a DD Anyway, I ended up have the extra calories left from using one less Tbsp of PB on my sandwich for lunch today and only drinking 1 cup of almond milk instead of 2. I wanted to try to stick with 350 to 375 on tomorrows DD, but eating that early is going to make it hard to get through the rest of the day without anything so If we go to this particular restaurant I can get a bowl of potato soup for 105 if it has no added cheese and bacon bits. So if I eat 350 or so for dinner I should be ok since I was under 231 on my UD today right? Is that as clear as mud?

I love that you know the other meaning of "Hack" although I'd imagine its much more common in the UK where, BTW, I would LOVE to come hack...
Seriously though, I'd give a kidney to foxhunt in the UK or Ireland. We do drag hunts here, they're a blast but the fences & hedges are pretty wimpy. Love letting him open up & gallop! He was bred to race but wasn't born the right color (I know, dumb, right?) and man does he have a gas pedal!

Love this thread today!

Good job Stacy

Slow- the cold on dds seems to persist, maybe not as much in the summer. Ymmv.

Sher- see if you can find tom yum soup or paste... Has the flavors you need and you just add chicken broth and/or coconut milk.

I went over on cals today, hope by not too much, was worth it though.

Lemon water friday here I come!

Anyone remember "The Hamster Dance" from about 10-15 years ago? I'm not even sure its around anymore...it was all the rage when I was in college. Animated dancing hamsters & some ear worm song set to the tune of the Robin Hood music from the Disney movie.
Oh geeze, we're on a roll tonight!
