Banking exercise calories for a treat?
Just wondering if anyone has tried this w/o gaining?
Thought about doing some exercise to have something I really like on an up day. I know I can have what I want on an up day, however, I don't want to use up most of my calories for the day for a calorie expensive treat. Just thought if I burned several hundred calories in a week that maybe on one of my up days I could have the "treat" along with my normal UD calories. Hope I haven't confused everyone. Anyway, just would like to hear thoughts, or suggestions if anyone else does this. Thanks!![]() |

yeah on an up day its fine...but you need to make sure that the calories you burn while working out are accurate...I like to workout on updays especially because i can eat even more!

I never did in WLM, so I'm no help.
![]() In maintenance, I'm eating more calories and enjoying the heck out of my treats, but they're within my maintenance calories (now anyway--I was going over by a couple of hundred before I decided to try higher calorie maintenance). I know, I know, I'm really no help at all! |

We had a thread about this about a month ago, when I get home I will try to find it and bump it.
There was a lot of discussion about eating back exercise calories. Our biggest success stories on this board lost their weight without exercise. I run, I am back in marathon training, and weight lift for toning but I never eat back exercise calories. I explained why I think it is a bad idea in the thread I will bump for you. the best advice is to to stick with no swee tweaks, which would include eating back exercise calories,

Well, if you're only doing it once, you'll probably be ok. But if you did it all the time I think you'd be in trouble. We've all had what we call UUAD (up, up and away days) - if you splurge on a cupcake and don't want to rein in the rest of your day, call it an UUAD, know you may stall (or even see a bounce) and say to yourself - Self, it was worth it! Then flush the guilt, put it behind you, go back to rotations and continue to rock this WOE. That's the ultimate beauty of JUDDD...if you have an oops day, you're not sunk!!

I'm a cake piggy. Of course if I were to lob off the entire corner of a cake then I'd prob be sick, but yeah a cupcake no prob. But that is a good idea. I could do half one UD and the other half on the next UD. If it doesn't get stale . I have been wondering what the UUAD was. That's funny! However, I had a couple of those when I fell off the wagon last week so better not have an UUAD for a while. Totally cracked me up!![]() |

I agree with the half a cupcake idea! I think that knowing how many calories something is really helps half to feel more slpurge-y than it otherwise would.
Tonight I had a favorite meal from a restaurant that I've had many times in the past, only this time I checked and found out that it was over 900 calories (!) so I had half and enjoyed the heck out of it and it was honestly very satisfying . . . especially when that is a whole down day's calories! )

I have once a month a planned break day from JUDDD AND FROM CARING what i chose to eat.. I have found that being a food adict.. as well as a former "sneak eater" that if i allow my self to binge one day of the month ,, that i can control the monster that lives with in.. Now some folks cant.. its like being a alcoholic.. but for me this works.. I have ate entire brownie cheese cake by my self on that day.. Now mind you.. I dont weight,, i dont care for that day.. or even the day after.. BUT i found that on those day afters.. MAN DO I FEEL SICK... i call this once a month day my "tounge day" for its really all about what my tounge thinks it needs.. So take what ive told you and apply it or ignore it.. ITs just an honest thing i have done over this past year.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's a great idea Kimberly, and obviously it's working for you! I may have to try that. I'm a little scared at the moment, but it makes perfect sense! Thanks for sharing that!

It has taken me many many years to come to the realization that I cannot exercise OFF what I eat! Years ago I took up running specifically to do just that. For ME, losing weight is 95% what I put in my mouth. I was running 40-50 miles +++ a week. I was trying to burn more of what I eat, it does not work for me. I was heavier with all that exercise than I had been when I lost weight. I finally found JUDDD in April of last year and have gotten better control of my weight. I would caution ANYONE that tried to utilize any "negative workout calories" with what they are eating with the hopes of still losing weight.
That being said, if you aren't doing it daily, then you would probably be fine. Having an occassional treat works great with JUDDD, but IMHO, your workouts shouldn't factor into that at all. HTH

Lots of good post
Thanks for all the info. Kimberly, I think that's a great idea. One member said they call it an UUAD, (up, up, and away day). lol Like for instance, pancake breakfast, my favorite pizza, and that red velvet cupcake i love so much!![]() |

Eat the cupcake! You set yourself up for failure if you deny yourself all the time. Moderation is definitely the key. One cupcake or equivalent a week will not matter.
