I should be okay then, since I tend to not get all my UD calories in unless I'm counting them. Which begs the question - if I under eat, why the heck do I have a weight problem????

I did the option for 1-3 days of exercise, since you said light exercise. The one I'm using was highly recommended by several people on my calorie counting website. When I google "TDEE Calculator" it's the 4th one down.

If you follow the guidelines of 2000 a day for women, that's what 5:2 recommends. The average will be 1571 per day, and most people will lose at that amount, just slowly. That is, eat 2000 calories 5 days a week, 500 2 days a week. I was only trying to figure out what I would need to eat in order to lose 1-2 lbs a week, rather than 1-2 lbs a month. Whatever you're comfortable with, and of course, your exercise levels etc. is what should govern your decision.
My JUDDD numbers are 1859/372 which is a daily average of 1222, which is a good number to lose weight. Therefore, with only 2 DDs a week and 500 each DD, my UDs (5 days) are only 1510 on the 5:2 diet. Does that make sense? Naturally you can eat a lot more, if you're fasting every other day...although you're not really eating more. LOL!

I am going to use 500 or less for each SD/DD and 1600/1650 or a bit less for my RD/UD and see how it goes.
I tweaked the heck out of JUDDD in the very beginning back when I started and used 700/1700 and lost like a house on fire with no exercise at all. Time will tell how these numbers work and if not I'll just tweak again! ![]() |

I think I'm trying to make it too complicated. The beauty of JUDDD and 5:2 is that they are simple to follow, as long as you also fast. If we get too heavily into the numbers none of us will be motivated to keep this up, so let your body be your guide and let's continue the experiment.

I figure if I control my UDs that is a huge win and I MUST lose weight. Had a good DD yesterday (335 cals) and am counting today and tomorrow shooting for 1600 cals each day before my Thursday DD. Now if the scale (or pants) would just cooperate I can keep this up!

Linda, I only went down .4 after Sun's DD, yesterday. I was a little disheartened too. But today I was down 2.2! After a UD! I only had 2 DDs last week, and they were very spaced out (Tues, and Sun lol). I also haven't been counting until yesterday, but something is working. Keep the faith, Girl!

This is only my second week. I have to also add that I'm still 1 lb away from my lowest in Feb. I went up 2 lbs, down one for the first week of 5:2, up one, then down 2.2 today. So, I still haven't seen any new lows, but it's not been much time yet. I'm going to give it a month. I may do 3 DDs some weeks, if necessary.

Good morning!
I had a good Dd yesterday, ending my 4th 5:2 week...I couldn't be happier. I am more relaxed now seeing that I can do the DD. I can see I'm eating lower fat but still eating low carb. I didn't intend to do 3 DD but it happened. I'm still going to stick with 2 DD/500 and 5 UP/2000. ETA: I will now weigh only once a month and don't think I'll count UD calories. Todate.... I finally made it back!! Long day yesterday.......long story!
As I read the posts from yesterday & today, my brain is fried with numbers!! SO.......I re-worked my JUDDD numbers for maintenance & here is what I got: @ 60% maintenance(the highest # done on the calculator) UD- 1560 DD- 936 That averages out to 1293 per day to maintain. On Fast Diet: 5/2 UD-1600 DD-500 Gives me 1286 to maintain. But, to do 2000/500 will have me gaining weight in a heartbeat!! I'll be 64 in May & age is NOT on my side! I don't know about TDEE; but, those calculators don't give me maintenance numbers. Anyway, I'd rather do 5 days @1600 w/ 2 days 500. Although, 1560/936 doesn't sound too bad either! My DH is still on JUDDD & he is not too happy when I have an UD on his DD.

I am not a mathmetician.
My UD numbers now are just under 2000 and I got to thinking that last year when I'd begun losing, I kept my DDs at 500 instead of 400 or less like I've been doing. I wish I was up to experimenting, but I'm just not. I need to lose. I'm sick of the last 8+ weeks bouncing between 4-5 lbs. Beeb - I'm hoping my "comfortable" zone will be okay on 5:2 since I tend to not go overboard on my UDs. I'm so hoping this will be like Dawn said - it might be perfect for me and the pounds fly off me. Oh, how that would make me !!

I want to eat like I did with ADF, but that won't work with 2 DDs. |

I'm trying to keep up with the readiing, but I could use a summary of who is actually happy with 5:2. Are you enjoying your UDs/RDs? Do you feel you can eat freely 5 days a week with only 2 DDs? I'm thoroughly enjoying JUDDDing with 3 fixed DDs and no counting on my 4 UDs, but if those of you in maintanence feel you can eat freely with 5 UDs I may be willing to join in April
