Thanks for the welcome Texas!! i am really excited to try something new...and the fact that you only diet half the time is a BIG bonus!! I am glad Carly posted the link to the post about the scale bounce and her experience...it's an eye opener This is something all newbies should have to see on their first day...

Well after my melt-down the other day I am feeling better. A day makes a big difference in jUDDDtown. My bad times are after a shocker UD where I just want to throw it all in, but by the end of the next DD all is OK. Have decided to stick with 20% which is 319 calories on a DD but if it falls on a weekend I will up it to 500. That's what I did this weekend and I felt better for it. I also have to stop thinking of UD's as..well..up days..and instead normal days..maintenance days. I don't have much weight to lose and I know my body is resisting at the moment.

The problem with me is I'm used to low carb/high fat and didn't have much restriction apart from no sugar/starches. Now that JUDDD is calorie counting I notice that I was drinking 900 calories in cream in my coffee alone!!Once I get my fatigue in order (side effect of medication I was taking) I will hit those stubborn fat cells with exercise. Thank you all Carly, Texas and everyone who responded to my whining. I would not have lasted on JUDDD if not for you guys.

Welcome Kim! Keep us posted on how you're doing.

I'm home from taking my golf clubs for a little walk. 9,000 steps on the Fitbit and about 4 miles. Not bad! I didn't play too badly for the first time out.

I'm sitting at 300 calories for my DD so far. I'll allow myself 500 today since I did the extra exercise. I think I'll have a can of Progresso soup for 120 calories and maybe a hard boiled egg for protein.

Gotta love it when a plan comes together!

Off work tomorrow and DH and I are spending the day together. Going to go talk to our financial advisor as DH is retiring in a couple months. He's almost 9 years older than me, so I have a few more years to work. Anyway, we're going out for lunch so I'm glad it's an UD!!

Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday!

Great seeing our newbies asking for support and getting such great advice from each other as well as the old timers.

to you all.

Mojo I am so pleased you are feeling better, we all get a bit 'lost' on occasion. This is the place to come and vent. Someone will always be here you can be certain.

Lori, have a lovely day with DH. Mine has been retired for 15 years.

Question...so if I do exercise do I add the cals that I burned onto my total cals of food I need to eat on a DD? It would only be some treadmill walking but I usually burn btw 90-120 cals...does it matter?

Kim
Short answer: no.
Look through old threads, should be the bottom of page 1 or maybe page 2. There is one on accounting for exercise on the JUDDD calculator, but we talked about exercise calories in general. Can't link, on phone.

Had a great first DD today...2 protein shakes @ 150 cals each, 1 pkg crackers at 190 cals and beef and chicken broth for 13 cals for both...comes out to 503 cals today . Also walked a little on the treadmill ... Didn't go overboard but it felt good so...all in all a successful DD!

My first UD will be tomorrow, I plan on keeping it low carb. At first I thought it would be my first DD until I looked at my calendar over the next couple of months. By starting tomorrow with an UD I will have Easter, a wedding and my bday all on UD so I think that is the best plan!

FINALLY, finally, the scale has moved down! A new low! Yes, it's "only" a half pound lower than my lowest weight since Jan, but it's 2.5 lbs lower than my JUDDD start weight! On 3/1

An UD today for me. Looking forward to a nice day off work & a nice lunch out with the hubby. Hmmm.....wonder what I'll have? I know what we'll share for dessert. The place we're going is famous for their "grilled Stickies" They take a Sticky Bun(cinnamon roll) and slice it, grill it in butter and then put some vanilla ice cream on top. OY......it is so good. We'll share 1 so it won't be too bad.

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Potaty we recommend starting with an UD. Gets us realising just what good nutritious and indulgent foods we can enjoy while JUDDDing. The the DD feels better, k owing that the next day will be full of lovely foods again.m enjoy.

Glad things are moving down again Lori.

How close do I need to come to my UD calories and how often am I supposed to recalculate them?

You'll get a couple of different responses to this one, but here's my take on it (and what worked for me).

I ate almost every single UD calorie, almost every single UD. I think it does good things to keep your metabolism burning as hot as possible. When I did lower my calories too soon, I stalled, plain and simple.

As for when you should adjust your calories, see above. Everyone's different, but the general consensus seems to be to wait until you slow down quite a bit or stall completely. Again, when I lowered mine too soon, I stalled. I started losing again when I raised them back up. When I waited until a "natural" stall occurred, it seemed to be at about 25 pounds lost each time (but I had a LOT to lose).
