DD Thursday - keep on rockin' the JD world...

Ok, that just popped into my head... I actually don't really like Neil Young at all, but whatevs ;)

Good plan for today-- let's hope I can stick with it :)
I'm trying to figure out most bulk for my caloric "buck"... seems my DD's are rather vegetarian-ish (OMG, ALERT THE MEDIA-- Soren "the carnivore" SK is semi-veggie!), but I'm really enjoying my yogurt.

Then I get a craving for meat :o so I'm trying to account for that.

B: black tea (watch out, I'll be posting at midnight for sure :jumpjoy: ) but I have to try this red velvet everyone loves.

L: 1 serving of cabbage soup (53)

D/S: 2 turkey pepperettes (100 cal)
1 serving of soup (53)
2 servings ff greek yogurt (200)
2T sf jam (40)

no honey-- too many carbs and calories, would rather have meat today.

plan: 446 cal.

lots of lemon water after the initial tea of the day, and vitamins after my initial food.

Have a great one folks!

hot-in-texas 02-28-2013 08:41 AM

Hi Soren!!
Breakfast-coffee/cream
lunch-nada
snack-probably(maybe bacon? fruit? both?)
dinner-hmm, haven't yet decided:)

LoCarbGal 02-28-2013 08:48 AM

Morning Soren and Sher! Sounds kind of like Sonny and Cher.

I'm with you Soren, not a Neil Young fan, but it's a good reference!

I'm FREEZING today already. It may be a rough one, comfort wise, but maybe I'm burning those calories away.

B: Coffee w/HWC
L: Coffee w/HWC
D: Eggs

Total around 410-415

I think this will be my last egg day for a little while. They sure do work for me, loss wise, but I'm getting a little bored. Maybe it's time for a bacon day. Or I might even try vegetable soup for a change. Hmmm....

[QUOTE=LoCarbGal;16286158]Morning Soren and Sher! Sounds kind of like Sonny and Cher.

I think bacon day sounds really good! But I will have to add eggs too. I am not as good as y'all, I cannot plan my day out so far in advance!!

sorenkkg 02-28-2013 09:19 AM

:hyst: sonny and cher. Love it!

I should've said JB world, ah well, you guys know what I meant

I'm already super hyper today, and I'm only just now finishing my 1 mug of black tea  it's gonna be one of THOSE days... I do have a bunch of quizzes to grade, and maybe then I'll, I dunno, repaint the entire house or solve world debt. ;)

Sher-- I find, if I don't plan, UD and DD, things go totally sideways... this way though, on DDs, I'm trying to make sure I get as close to my total nutrients as possible (going to post on that) and on UDs, I want to get some satiety without going overboard.
KWIM?

LCG-- my veggie soup isn't really vegetarian, since it starts with chicken broth, BUT, I guess it could start with a dollop or package of miso... not that it matters to either of us b/c we're not veggies, just thinking aloud.

I did grab a new package of veggies to try something different. A brand of frozen foods here call arctic gardens (not sure if they have it in the US?) has a few different blends of frozen veggies... this one I got is little cubes and is for Spaghetti sauce-- it has ONIONS, CELERY, CARROTS, GREEN PEPPER, RED BELL PEPPER (sorry for the caps, that was copy/paste) and is 25 cals per 85 grams/1/2 cup.
They have other "solutions" like a mix for soup (CARROTS, TURNIPS, GREEN BEANS, CELERY, ONIONS) at the same calorie count, and so on.

So, instead of cabbage/slaw based soup, where I then have to add onion flakes and tomato flavor myself, i was going to try some of these (plus, I think I got a coupon somewhere...)

OMG, it's starting... the caffeine... :jumpjoy: SORRY for the overshare!

Anyhoo-- I'll wrap up to say that I think veggie soup, at 50+ cals per nice sized serving, is a great, warming, nutritious thing to have on a DD :)

oy... keep me away from the keyboard!

hot-in-texas 02-28-2013 09:30 AM

lol, I love this caffeine fueled post!! I am on my 1and 1/2 cup of coffee and i know what you mean!! I really like this feeling though, just not when I try to go to bed tonight :(

So, maybe next week I will start trying to plan things. Sounds like a plan-thanks for the advo!

Low Carb Librarian 02-28-2013 09:43 AM

Hmmm... Didn't want to say I was going back to JUDDD today... But maybe it will make me actually do it if I put it down.

I have had coffee this morning. I work until 9 tonight ... Might bring some cucumbers and some soup.

LoCarbGal 02-28-2013 09:48 AM

Love the hyper you, Soren! I bet you're really fun IRL when you're like that. Come to think of it, I'll bet you're fun anyway!

Hey, LCL! :welcome: back! Sounds like you're off to a good start!

sorenkkg 02-28-2013 09:49 AM

LCL-- you can do it
:hugs: post later when you've completed your day. So easy to resume rotations ;)
S.

eta: cross posted with LCG again! :D Ya, I'm pretty fun ;) with the caffeine, alls fun and games till someone is up till 3am and forgets why

also, when DH can't get a word in, he gets a bit cross and threatens to THROW OUT ALL MY BLACK TEA!!!

b_lou_who 02-28-2013 10:02 AM

b organic fuji APPLE, chicken sausage, pot of darjeeling
l probably egg drop soup, is sriracha a vegetable?
d GREENS and elk steak

hot-in-texas 02-28-2013 11:32 AM

B_lou, just wondering where you get all the good sounding meats? Does your family hunt, or do you just have a good meat market?

Flutter 02-28-2013 12:50 PM

LOL soren! Perish the thought of him touching your teas!!!!

B: coffee w/ sf creamer (75 cals)
L: small chili (210), diet soda
D: will either skip, or have a bit of the broth from homemade chicken noodle soup

Mommie22boys 02-28-2013 02:36 PM

Second DD back OP:

B: coffee w/ h&h and creamer for flavor (57)
S: banana (90)
L: vegetarian veggie boullion (15)
S: crackers (75)
D: cabbage/turkey sausage scramble (120)
S: SF jello (10)

That would bring me to 357, but I may add a turkey frank later (45) if I'm feeling nosh-y.

tobelowcarber 02-28-2013 03:25 PM

8 hr window

B (10 AM) 5.5 oz turkey breast
D (5:45 PM) 9 oz baked wild salmon, 10 oz steamed Brussels sprouts, 5 oz cucumber pickles

total 705 cal/25 gr carbs

sorenkkg 02-28-2013 08:24 PM

End of day report:

I'm slightly coming down off the caffeine high... this is the part of the day where it's less fun :( and why I don't drink caffeine often, sigh. I'll take some melatonin and hope for the best.
I did get 3 loads of laundry washed, upstairs, folded AND put away, woo! :muscles:

I stuck to my plan today! I think I had like 4 olives extra (not counting them, clearly they were magical olives), and a couple bites of the dehydrated kale (yuk, btw. zucchini was a winner, kale, no. do it in the oven with oil. I'll turn this stuff into soup...)

we'll call it 444 cals
42 net g carbs.

:aprayer: and fingers crossed for tomorrow morning!

hot-in-texas 02-28-2013 09:09 PM

Hmm, it's too late for me to take anything for sleep aid :/ that's OK, I get lots of stuff done on nights like these!
First thing I ate today was around 5 pm, some kind of packaged fruit bar made with chickpeas and apricots that I bought in the checkout line at Sprouts really good though.-130 calories
1/4 grilled tilapia filet-35
1 piece asparagus-5ish?
1 bacon-25
1 egg-80
Total-345

Eta-i forgot 6 raspberries, 6 blueberries-probably 30 more at the most.

LoCarbGal 02-28-2013 09:43 PM

A successful DD, I'd say. Due to some scheduling conflicts, I only had coffee/HWC until 7 pm, when I had 2 HB eggs and some mayo/mustard. 422 calories and hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow! :aprayer:

Low Carb Librarian 02-28-2013 10:07 PM

Eh... Didn't do it... Got bombarded at work as soon as I walked in the door. Everyone wanted to make Thursdays burrito night.

I forgot about that and morale is really low right now ... so I caved.

DD Friday, here I come!?!?!

I swear, I don't know how you girls do it! 1st solid food in the evening!:up:
I would just die, my tummy starts swearing at me around 11-12 in the morning:mad:! I have found out that I can live better around 500 calories than the 330 I should be doing! I can't exercise unless I consume at least 100 cals before hand.

P.S. If any of you like spicy food try a cup of chicken broth with a 1/4 teaspoon of cumin seeds, a dash of red chili and cayenne peppers. I drink it from a cup like tea or coffee, yum, yum! I use same spices for my cabbage omelette!

Mmmmm, that sounds good! I'm going to try that broth JD - thanks!

As for waiting until evening to eat anything, I couldn't do that for the first couple of months. My tummy wouldn't take it either. But I slowly started delaying eating until evening and now (most days) it's not too uncomfortable.

What ^^^ she said! :)

I also find that I prefer to have 1 meal that is more meal-like, than the mini-meals concept. I'm not *that* hungry during the day, and having a meal, or in my case, a HUGE serving of yogurt that feels like a total *luxury* is what helps me keep my head on straight, kwim?
:D

you find what works for you... and if that changes, go with the flow!

:) S.

p.s. I also sometimes add a bunch of stuff to either broth or to miso soup (instant). Even a few shakes of franks' hot sauce really changes it up!

hot-in-texas 03-01-2013 07:22 AM

JD, I just started to be able to wait too. The first time i did it was really uncomfortable, but it got easier quickly! 2:00 was my "need food!" point, now that is not until 6 or 7 :).
Thanks for the recipe! Sounds good.

Hubby and sons hunt, a relative raises grass-fed beef (hubby calls them pedicured cows because they are so loved and coddled), friends raise pastured chickens and ducks for eggs and meat. It has taken us years to transfer our food habits, and we have two good sized chest freezers in our basement.

A good friend has a big organic CSA garden on a lake here that abuts a wildlife preserve so I get a lot of produce both fresh in season and to preserve, we grow as much as we can in our limited space and desperately want some chickens of our own.
