I have a question about scales, if someone knows the answer, I say thank you in advance.....I was shopping today and saw some scales..one type was a ww, and the other type I had never seen before...it says that it can measure the body fat and something else..maybe lean muscle...so I just don't understand how something could do that...of course, I don't get out much, I decided to wait about buying it until I found out more...wonder if it can tell whether you've brushed your teeth yet?

Jaymar-- it can tell your body fat (and I assume lean muscle, the same way) by running a very very very small electric current through your body. Gyms usually do it with a handheld model, and scales that do it have metal portions on the part where you stand. You stand barefoot, and it figures it out.

Neither the hand or foot measuring models are 100% accurate-- there's other factors about your fat composition, like how hydrated you are, time of day (going back to hydration) etc. But if you weigh under the same conditions, at the same time of day, generally, you should be in the ballpark.

I have a tanita scale that measures body fat-- I don't take it a *the law* but it's nice to see that number go down in addition to the weight number.

Well, beat me with a spoon...that's incredible...thank you, Soren, for the info..I had no idea that an inexpensive scale could do all that..it really would be nice to have because that way I could tell if I started to lose muscle...I don't have that much to begin with, so I need to hang on to it....I should put an electric toothbrush on my wish list...my daughter would get it for me..she's always at a loss as what to get me for a present..I'm gonna tell her I want one with a light that blinks when I'm done...

Get the oral b triumph... Not bad to set up, timer makes it easy to know what to do, lots of heads available, and it makes a smiley face when you brush long enough. Loooove I, and my teeth feel like just after a cleaning.

Ok, thank you for the info..and that's what I'll write on my wish list...actually I can go ahead and get one..I still have a gift card from Christmas and should use it..maybe over the weekend when I shop for my gluten free stuff.
