Does anyone own mastercook?
I know I used to see that software mentioned on the main boards frequently over the years, and was having no success finding it because I thought it was masterchef like the tv show.
I have a gajillion printed out recipes, handwritten sticky notes, etc.. wondering about the use of it to compile my up and down day recipes and consolidate all my personal rat's nest of paper into printable cookbookery. If you have it or have used it would love feedback before acquiring. creepy footnote: I discovered the software is cook not chef because the interweb scanned me googling for masterchef, and writing a post about software for recipes/cookbooks. It offered me mastercook's facebook page on my facebook a few minutes later. Feeling like I have a stalker. |
No help with the mastercook thing, but I SO get what you're saying about the stalker thing! It's creepy!

I own it. I did put quite a few scattered recipes into it to get everything into one place. You can add your own cookbook, too, which is kind of cool. I added my own low carb cookbook.
Would I buy it again? No. I'm just not a cook! It comes pre-loaded with tons of ingredients, but adding your own, for me, is tricky. Their system is odd to me. I'm sure others will chime in and love theirs. :D |
^^ Thank you Vanilla
I seem to recall people not liking some aspects (like inaccurate food counts maybe..but that was a long time ago) and loving everything consolidated. They have sure gone through a lot of different owners over the years. |
highly recommend evernote for this application. however, it doesn't print a nice book.

It is a very nice program and has lots of useful features if you're an avid cook. :steak: Me ---> :eggs: |
I've had it for years, currently on version 11 i think. I like it. I add custom ingredients all the time, and edit any that dont look right to me (rare but some).
I just input manually, havent scanned or imported. I use an android app for importing from the web to my tablet, sometimes, but most of my creations are in mc. Its like 20$, and was worth it to me. |
Does it work with windows 7 and 8?
I used it forever then when windows xp came out, they didn't have a version that worked with it, so I never looked at the newer ones. I loved it before! |
Mine works fine with windows 7, which I have on my work laptop :)
|
Mine works with 7, although I sometimes get some kind of "macro" error when I try to use the help thing.
|
I ordered the version 11. I think version 5.x(something) was the last one I had lol.
|
Cool! The main change is I think some of their old formats don't work with the new one (or I haven't figured it out...). But I do use mine to figure out the nutrition values in my own concoctions, mostly, and it works great for me just for that.
