Freezing DD Boiling UD?!

I've read on lots of posts about being really cold on DD's. i did my first one yesterday and was so cold, even managed to fit a snooze in but couldn't because I couldnt warm up.

Just had to force myself to eat porridge on my first UD as I am not hungry at all and i am serously over-heating and it is below freezing out there today!

Does anyone struggle to get the calories in at first? Im tall, exercsie frequently so need to eat 2300 and want to avoid flour and sugar as it sets off awful binge episodes, although i will have a treat now and again but I dont trust myself just yet, going to wait at least a week. Im guessing Foods like peanut butter will help, but I couldnt even eat my 40g of porridge and milk, Im stuffed!!! This WOE is nuts, amazingly nuts!!

I could never eat 2300- even probably with dinner out that would be hard for me. I do think you need to eat the full amount of your 20% WLM number with no exercise, but it is not as critical to hit that number with the exercise added in, IMO. However, you need the biggest swing possible between DDs and UDs so you will need to figure this out over time. Most of us just do 20% WLM w/ no exercise regardless of our exercise routine, but you do exercise a lot so you will need to experiment.

I am cold everyday but colder on DD's. I would welcome being warm and I agree with Carly on the calories.

Over time, my body got things straightened out: DDs rarely freeze and UDs rarely burn. But in the beginning I felt like I was back in menopause - shivering one day and sweating the next. Can't say I miss that.

As far as UD calories go, I have always loved fats: hwc, butter, cheese. I add lard or tallow to almost anything I cook. Fats are a huge help in keeping UD cals high when I just don't want the volume of food.

Thanks everyone, well I've just had a protein shake and had it with extra almond butter and added some cream, tasted far too luxurious for a diet! Looking forward to DD tomorrow, this is not what I was expecting at all. I'll try and get my calories in as I exercise 18 hours a week (not by choice, it's my job!) so think I better had. Look forward to seeing if the inches change next week.

I find that I am comfortably warm on UD's and can feel my body burning up the calories, lol. It seems like I can. In the summertime it gets so hot down here, UD's might be rough. DD's will be heaven though.

ETA: I find that eating a breakfast sandwich really ups my calories on UD's (Hardee's ribeye biscuit is 450 cals!). Also, I can snack my way through to lunch, eat lunch and have another snack and nearly not have enough left for a decent dinner! I think you will find that you eat more on UD's as time goes by. I felt like my UD calories were excessive at first, but I quickly got used to it and now have to count not to go over!

I definitely have the DD shivers, but I haven't had UD boilings, and I hope I don't!

I agree with using fats to up calories. Nuts and nut butters, avocados, coconut butter, butter on cooked vegetables, heavy cream in coffee or tea, cream cheese and cheese, full fat dressing on salads, mayonnaise, sour cream, guacamole--those are all really delicious ways to reach a calorie target without adding a lot of volume of food.

I'm freezing All. The. Time. but DDs are down right painful sometimes. I have a space heater in both offices and 2 electric blankets at home.

The DD shivers is the only part of JUDDD that I could do without. The rest of the plan is a pure joy!!!!!

I have just heard from a friend that low iron will often make a person cold all the time.. this is something i am goin to look into..I did read that if all issues have been ruled out like medical ones, that sometimes just adding a lil more iron via supppliment will help with this.. I have not tryed yet but i am goin to pick up some iron and see. ill let ya know if it helped or not.. cant hurt right? ")

Great point, infact when I was on atkins I was taking a multivitamin without iron and have continued to take same multi now, but im definitely not eating as much meat now so you could be onto something there!

I can't take supplements with iron. They make me instantly nauseated. I think the cold feeling on DD is directly related to very low calorie intake. Iron could have something to do with it, if you're cold on UD's too.
