Frequent exercise and JUDDD

Ive been doing atkins on off on off on off.... since Novomber, lost about 10lb then slowly putting it back on, its getting a bit silly now, don't think Atkins is for me. I've decided that it's too restrictive and my social life goes out the window! Or more like my diet goes out the window whilst socialising

Im a fitness instructor, a phsically fit, but overweight instructor who constantly overeats. I think JUDDD sounds like the perfect way of eating so i gave it a go last week, I did a one day fast (500cals) and found it fine, early days i know, but i really think that this would suit me well, but...

I teach classes Monday-Friday, mostly one in the morning and 2 in the evening, sometimes back to back. I would probably save all my calories for a meal before the evening classes. I was just wondering if anyone out there has a lifestyle similar to mine. Im concerned that I would not have the energy for classes in the evening and that I would become light headed etc or would my body adapt?

Do you think it is a completely absurd idea I am even thinking about it when I exercise so much?

I hardly exercise so I cannot speak from personal experience, however, there are quite a few JUDDers who prefer to exercise on their fasting days. I don't think it should physically be am problem, if you don't let it effect you mentally. I know, I am not really one to talk about this, but think of our ancestors, they often exerted the most energy while fasting, because they were hunting for food. Fasting can actually give you more energy. You could give it a go, and if it doesn't suit you, then at least you gave it a go. Just be sure to keep hydrated.

Think I might try it, you're right, that's the only way I'll find out. I felt really energised on my fast day last week, although i only walked the dog for an hour. I guess im just a bit concerned about passing out in class, that would be embarrasing! ill take some nuts with me or a banana just in case and defintiely up my water intake

I have consistently exercised since I have been JUDDDing and have found no issues at all. It's all in what your body gets used to. That being said, I have always used the 2nd level of calories. You may want to do the same or even go another level up.

I did it my first dd whilst exercising (2nd DD) And I had so much energy. I tried fasting last year but was so scared of hunger that I caved every time, but now I have learnt to ride that hunger wave I am confident I can do this. 3 hours of intense exercise today and only 500 calories = mission complete. Think it might be a struggle to eat 2300 calories tomorrow but i will do my very best to!

2300 sounds much too high for your body weight. Make sure you change the calculator to pounds and inches when you figure your calories. When I was 190lb my UD was less than 2000.

I'm really glad you like juddd so far and most of us feel really energised on our DDs.

Thanks Carly, I put in that i exercise moderately. I'm 5"9 so that might be why? Just double checked stats and I think that's right. I probably just put intense exercise but 2600 seems way ti much for me!

You are tall so that helps . Others may weigh in on this, but some people feel that losses slow or stall when exercise calories are added back in. I'm sure you burn quite a bit being in the exercise industry. I was an instructor years and years ago, but never really found that it gave me much of an advantage regarding increasing my food intake considering my rigorous exercise routine at the time. I loved being physically fit and thoroughly enjoyed working out and teaching back then. There have been many discussion on the board about what setting to use depending on activity level.
Definately give it a try with moderate, but if you feel that you have to stuff yourself to get to that 2,300 you would probably still do great at 2100. However if the 2300 is no problem then enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would hit the floor if I tried to exercise like that on a DD. lol I can start getting that shaky feeling if I'm dropping down that low on a DD. I think that's why I did pretty good on my first DD because I had a lot of protein in the Adkins shake I drank. I admire your profession! I need to be more diligent in exercise. Not only just to help with weight loss, but it helps build bone density which is sooo important as we get older (especially women). I just bought the Jillian 30 day shredd and I'm going to give it a try today. May not have to worry about eating tomorrow if I can't get out of the bed lol!

I have 30 day shredd too, let me know how it goes, as I have had it for over 2 months and it is still in shrink wrap

I found that I could clean vigorously for hours while fasting. Granted that is not running or teaching exercise classes, but I actually felt *more* energized than usual.

I have more energy and thus find it easier to exercise on DDs. I haven't had any issues of feeling weak or faint--hungry, yes, but no other issues.

Well, 30 day shredd didn't happen. Plan on trying it tomorrow. will let you know. I bought little 2lb weights to use. I know that's not a lot of weight, but trying to get through that workout I'm sure they feel like 15 pounders.
