I just found the GMA video. It was pretty good. Definitely didn't cast a negative shadow on fasting. The caveats mentioned by the Dr are probably about right - not for kids, not for everyone.

I believe there's going to be a full show about it on Nightline. I've set my DVR.

I'm going to show the full Horizon show to my mom and brother soon. They're both interested and very impressed with my results. Also they are delighted that I'm not always turning down different foods, limiting our get-togethers. Not everyday anyway!

That's what I thought! I know the first time I tried the PH, I didn't count & ended up gaining! I don't want to do that with 5:2!!

I'm going to see if I can find the clip from GMA!!

Kindred spirits indeed! So far I counting SDs/DDs religiously, and just realizing I may have to do RDs/UDs too until I lose the weight I want to lose. I can see myself overeating on UDs down the road and want to put a stop to this ASAP! Knowing "about" how much food I should be eating on RDs/UDs will help me to stay on plan. I was over eating SO much that I'm really not sure WHAT a regular/up eating day should be!

Starting tomorrows RD/UD I'm counting, probably somewhere around 1700 give or take a few!

I like Mosley's 5:2 much better, it works well for me and having to eat 500 or less calories for 2 days out of the week is just fine because I don't feel like I "CAN'T HAVE THIS OR THAT" for a long period of time! It's only 2 days, spaced out during the week that I eat much fewer calories and if I wanted to eat those 500 calories eating 100 calorie packs of junk I could!

5:2 is just much more freeing to me!

Thanks for the other clip! I like how they showed us how much food is REALLY in 500 calories! It shows a lot of food, more than it would seem to be!

I'm reading Mosley's book now, really enjoying it! Now to get a handle on the RDs/UDs I will be golden! I figure a few more weeks and I'll have it down!

I haven't figured out my RD/UD yet but I'm looking at somewhere between 1600 and 1800 calories and I'm also thinking of throwing a SmallerRD/MD in there at about 1200 just to see what happens. How did you come to your RD/UD number?

It's all tweak/trial/error at this point but I'm surely loving this WOE so far!!

There seem to be 2 videos out there this morning. One where you watch what you eat for 5 days and then eat whatever on the weekends. The author is also calling this a 5 day plan!

I much prefer the 5:2 plan of Dr. Mosley. The video on that was well put together. eating what you want within reason is so much easier than watching what you eat 5 days a week!

Well, I over did my UD today. I kept munching on junk all day at work, and now after 2 slices (and a 1/3) of pizza, I'm definitely on a UUAD. Feeling bloated and yucky too. Next few UDs will be counted meticulously.

I'm using my numbers from Dr. Johnson's site. What have you been using? A mid day here & there might not hurt me either. Things are so different now than when I was younger!!

Cindy, I've read that others doing 5:2 seem to not do UUAD's as much as when we were eating EOD. Maybe this will kick in for us, too? I hope so. Cause I do have problems from time to time with UUAD's! But, you're still doing very well!! Hang in there!

I'm going to use my numbers from JUDDD also. When I did JUDDD I started with tweaked numbers of 700 and 1700 and lost like a champ! Figured they just may work well again, even with only 2 SDs/DDs.

If I do a MD it's going to be about 1100/1200 calories. Still not sure about this yet, will see.

Had a great SM/DD today...410 calories and I was aiming for 500 but doesn't look like I really needed, nor wanted more to eat tonight after work so I didn't eat! This is a good thing!!

And YES, to have that speedy metabolism again......

I'm losing but it's slow BUT it's also my fault because I haven't been keeping a good eye on calories and eating WAY too many carbs! I am now keeping better track and eating lower carbs more days. Will see how that helps to move things along a little bit faster!

TJ, that's what I'm hoping for, too! Today was my first of 3 UD's! I'm nervous; but, diving right in is what I'm gonna do! I'm hoping to maintain; but, if I lose a few more lbs. in the process that's ok, too!

Beebs, speedy metabolism isn't even in my vocabulary anymore!! Although, JUDDD has seemed to correct mine to some degree. I can always go back to it if 5:2 doesn't work. But, I'm really hoping it will! I was doing 700-800 calories on my DD in maintenance. I wonder if that is going to be enough difference in calories to keep the sirts going?

After I get my son to bed tonight, I hope to do some reading of Fast Diet. I saw a copy of it at Walmart today. But, I'm glad I have it on my kindle. Have a great night!!

I'm still losing, but at about half the rate I lost with JUDDD. I'm still using my JUDDD numbers though with UDs around 1750 and DDs between 200-400.

I have found that to be true too, Shari. However, I still seem to eat too much the day following a DD. I'm trying to space my DD's out for that reason. I didn't plan too well this week, so I'm going to have to do a DD tomorrow before the week's over lol.

Been doing 5:2 since Monday Feb 18th (11 days). Have had 4 DDs and yesterday's DD was so darn easy it was amazing!! No snacking either which was REALLY a surprise!

Today I was rewarded with a .4 extra loss from the usual 2 pound bounce from the UDs but I wasn't paying too much attention to how much I was eating and how many high carb junk calories I was putting into my UDs. I started to count calories as of today on this first of 3 UDs to see if I can keep the bounce down and lose a little better after my next DD on Monday.

I'm really liking this WOE and the fact that my hunger is under control and my thoughts about food are healthier than they have been in months! I feel wonderful, too!!
