Shari, as a rule I keep my DDs as low as I can, mostly because I have always like low DDs. Yesterday was probably no more than 250.

It's horses for courses I think. I have never wanted to raise my DDs beyond 500 (though of course sometimes they are higher), I always preferred to have more freedom on my UDs. The difference 5:2 has made is that I don't seem to eat higher UDs now.

I am coming over to the 5:2 plan as well. I am burned out on eod, even though compared to a lot of JUDDDers I haven't been at it that long. I decided not to do a DD yesterday and didn't eat near my UD allotment. Most UDs I go over and I'm tired of feeling the dread of DD and overeating eod. I'm not losing much now, so 5:2 can't be any worse for weight loss, lol. Here's hoping it will work for me!

ETA: I reserve the right to go back to eod if I feel better about it, or 3:5.

I think you will love it Cindy, yes it is still asking for some control but it is a gentler way.

I may have to look into this as well as I am NOT losing. My own fault as UDs are not always controlled but maybe with this gentler approach it would happen? Can't hurt to try. EOD is not working for me right now.

I just downloaded it to my Kindle. I have a couple of other books going right now, so I may or may not get to it soon, but I'm excited!

After reading that it was released here, I purchased it for my Kindle, too! I can't wait to get into it. I had already purchased & read 5:2 by Kate Harrison.

You all keep encouraging me! I had a really UUAD today, so tomorrow definitely HAS to be a low DD! I like the idea that by having more than 1 UD at a time, that the bingeing will lessen. Sometimes, I just seem to want to eat all day long! Ugh!

For me, Kate Harrison's book is better than the Mosely one. I got a free Kindle update of it yesterday so am re-reading it for inspiration because I've had rather a not-JUDDDing month and got away with maintaining for a while but I still have a few pounds to shift.

In December my stats showed that if I regularly do two UDs in a row, or even introduce a MD, I don't lose any weight. So, it's strict 300/1500 ADF for me for the time being, till I find a weight where I can easily maintain. Then, I'll be very keen to experiment with 5:2 or higher DDs, to see which work best for me.

So thanks for posting your helpful discoveries. I shall be following with vested interest!

I got Kate Harrison's kindle update yesterday also. So far, I like that Dr. Mosley included and explained a lot more of the research on IF that was in his BBC Horizon special in Aug. 2012. I was relieved to see that he mentions in his book, that so far from the limited amt. of human studies that have been done on IF, that a large amount of muscle isn't lost. Which is my main concern with continuing it long term. But I'm still not sure if that only applies to people with more than 25 BMI.

All the other possible health benefits of IF are so enticing though.

Downloaded Mosley's book today, my first Ebook on the Nook my daughter handed down to me and I plan on starting it tonight. Figure this was a great book to start as an Ereader, too!

I'm 5:2 and feel wonderful again, like I did on JUDDD but without all the crazy binging head issues I had on EOD. Knowing that tomorrow will not be a DD because I have at least 1 or 2 more UDs is very freeing and even though I'm losing slowly, I'm losing and any loss is a good loss in my book!

I feel like I can keep my UDs lower most days, and if I need a higher one I can have one, and DD's are not so dreadful anymore either because they're not eod.

I'm willing to give this a try - I thought I was the only one who ate like a "ravenous mouse" (to quote a phrase in a certain article that was posted here recently) on UD's!

A "ravenous mouse"??? I wish!! I eat more like a starved horse!!!!!!!!!!

Flossy, I got the update yesterday too. I've not had a chance to look at it tho. Maybe tonight.

I've decided to join y'all in 5:2 tomorrow, after a low DD today. I still need to decide what days are my DD's. I'm thinking Wednesday & Sunday(but, that is subject to change)!

I'm not ready to transition yet- too scared. I'm afraid I will gain, but like others said I may not want higher UDs if I only have 2 DD per week. I'm probably going to try to lose another 7-10 pounds, but not right yet. I'm going to read over on the 5:2 thread. I'm definitely interested for some time in the future. I don't mind the DDs though so 3 a week has not been a problem in maintenance.

Can you say "Elephant"? THIS is how I was eating on my UDs! It was OUT OF CONTROL! Now on 5:2 it's not even a thought, actually I'm eating less food even though I know I may have a DD the next day. It's the mind set now for me of: 1 DD, you can do this because either the next 2 or 3 days are UDs and that is a good thing. EOD DDs were killing me, mentally and I just hated them, never looked forward to them. This time I DO look forward to the DDs, love the freedom from food and the clarity of head!

One thing I've noticed and only just, because someone mentioned being cold...I'm not cold this DD. That is very unusual. I wonder if it has anything to do with more UDs.

ETA: Also, I think I'm not going to follow a set schedule. I am doing DDs as I feel ready for them, with a minimum of 2 per week, of course. I like "choosing" to have a DD rather than feeling that I *have* to do one.

Just heard GMA put out a teaser in the next half hour to talk about the "fast diet". It went like this "how would you like to eat what you want and still lose weight?? they call it the fast diet and it is coming up..." Should be interesting. Hope I can watch it, unlike when they had it on the weekend Today Show. I do have to drive my child to school--hope it is on in a few........or at least they have a clip to watch later on today.

I still count every day. I'm a little looser when we're out of town, or if I have a cup of tea or a SF mint or something. I used to log every.single.thing. Now it's just almost.every.single.thing.
