Fat Tuesday on a DD - HELP!

There are doughnuts and pastries everywhere I look! I am having a kind of blue DD as the scale has been very unkind this week and I am finding the siren call of the doughnuts very hard to resist. I keep reciting to myself "Doughnuts will still be on the planet tomorrow - if I want one I can go get one." "Doughnuts will not make me feel better, but worse." But I am miserable. Help me JUDD Budds. Tell me all the reasons I should resist for my health and sanity. I am hoping you are more convincing then I am!

I used to take whatever was offered, wrap it up in a paper towel (or ziploc baggie), put it where I couldn't see it, and keep it for my UD. It made me feel like I was participating and having what everyone else was having, I just had to eat it the next day. You can do this! Stay strong! It is only one day. You are probably on the verge of dropping some weight, so keep on your rotations! :)

Hi
What I'm doing is delaying pancake day until Saturday and I'm meeting with friends so I still get my pancakes and have some fun. But yes it's not easy when there is so much nice food around but like you said you can wait 24hrs right?

I be the donuts are greasy and stale already. you can go get a nice fresh one tomorrow if you still want one.

The thing is, by tomorrow, you probably won't even want it.

Also-- (this is tough  b/c you know I care)-- the scale was rough, I believe, b/c you had some UUAD this week already, if I'm not wrong (and I very well could be)... so having a *bad* DD won't help that at all, and will only be adding insult to injury.

However :hugs: if you have a great DD today, you will feel AWESOME in 2 ways-- physically, b/c you'll lose some water, at the very least... and mentally, b/c you will CONQUER that little demon that is taking you off your track.

If you really want one of THOSE items, take it, bag/wrap it, and put it in a fridge/freezer somewhere. It will be there for you tomorrow (or something even better).

Find some yummy tea or coffee, or just fill up with a ton of water.... YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

 and :hugs: S.

Just remember, it's called "fat Tuesday" for a reason. Don't let it win! :hugs:

:hyst::laugh: ABSOLUTELY!!!!

You don't need the icky donuts!!! Truly, they wouldn't taste as good as you think they will now...and then you'll feel horrible about it and wish you never ate them.

I agree, if you REALLY want one, get a fresh one tomorrow!!! (when they will actually taste better b/c it'll be UD and you can eat it AND lose weight!)

you are stronger than donuts and pastries. Tomorrow morning you will wake up with a big smile on your face, because you resited those ugly little things!

LoCarbGal 02-12-2013 09:23 AM

You can do this! Good advice so far. Maybe there's something you like even better than doughnuts, that you can promise yourself for tomorrow!

Resisting so far and as the day goes by, they get staler and selection dwindles it does get easier. I am in a foul mood today overall so this just set me off on the emotional eating and throw it all out the window path that I know for sure will not help me. Thanks for talking me off the ledge!

The UUAD is all on me but seriously, one day (and not even that many calories off given my current weight) to undo weeks worth of work! UGH - it's that fundamental unfairness that sets me off and puts me in such a bad mood. Why does it have to be so hard for some of us turtles??? I know, if we had the answers we would be billionaires and hold a Peace Prize.

sorenkkg 02-12-2013 09:54 AM

:hugs: TJ! I'm a turtle too! I find it's not just the fact of an UUAD, but also the choices...I'm sure if I had 3000 calories of lettuce ( ) then that would be different from what usually happens to me on an UUAD (which I won't mention here ;) )

I do know that the weight is mostly water, and it's just your body fighting you on wanting to give it up. Your body wants to stay as it is, it's scared to lose fat, or change anything... you have to be gentle with yourself, and kind to yourself, and coax that weight to come off, promising yourself  and happiness, and it will happen. Better slow than not at all.

I'm personally fighting to get back down to the weight in my sig-- i was 4+ up, then 3, and now about 2lbs up... but I know when I get back to that number, I'll blow past it to a new low, and then lower and lower... slowly, but we WILL GET THERE!!!

:hugs:

We've had a major flu outbreak in the office this past week so I have taken to picturing germs all over the kitchen and especially on those doughnuts that have been handled by dozens!! but, it's helping!

Good job, TJ! :)

As a turtle myself I can honestly admit that my slow losses are due to less than strict discipline. I know if I had started out at my 20% DD calculations, or lower and stuck to them, I would have lost 2x what I have. On the other hand, it's not a race and I did not gain all this weight overnight. ;)

I resisted the doughnuts but had an emotionally crappy day and a 700 calorie DD. Not great. Predictable scale results. Today is another day.

sorenkkg 02-13-2013 06:23 AM

:hugs: TJ. I had a MD yesterday, thought i did pretty well, and am up a bit on the scale. Ah well, relax, rotate, it will come off.
