Rapid Weight loss and cold all the time
I am posting this in JUDD since there are so many seasoned IF posters here.
I’ve been doing IF with an 8 hour window since Summer of 2012. I just recently decided to try and get some more weight off. I’m doing Weight Watchers points but still eating in my 8 hour window. I lost 4.2 the first week and 3.0 the 2nd. I’m down 1.5 today from my Tuesday weigh in. My average weight loss in 2010 on WW was 7 lbs a month and then 4 lbs a month when I switched to LC. So this is not my normal amount to lose and I weigh less than I did then. I know I’m being a worry wart but 3 lbs a week is just not normal for me. I’m eating healthy and getting all the calories that I’m supposed to have in a day. I think WW= out to about 1200-1400. I feel great except that I am cold all the time. The last time remember being cold like this was when I tried JUDD. I’m on Thyroid meds (Naturethroid) and have been doing well on my dose for about 2 years now. I just had bloodwork done in Nov. 2012 and all was well. I don’t want to rush and go to the Thyroid Dr for retesting until I have given it a few more weeks. I’m not having any signs of Hyperthyroid. I guess my question is: What is considered safe weight loss? Have any of you lost at this rate at first? Does the cold get better? Are any of you JUDDERS on thyroid meds and did JUDD effect anything? |

I can't help but I know others will be here soon. I haven't ever had the cold thing, and I have no health issues.
I would say 3b a week is fast but not unhealthy. |

I'm cold all the time, but I don't know if it's JUDDD, my thyroid, or my primary Raynaud's, though I suspect it's a combination of all three. I do notice I'm colder when I'm losing weight more rapidly. I have lost 3 or more pounds per week several times throughout my journey, and I don't think it's unhealthy. Remember, we lose weight in fits and starts, so you may have slower weeks, then faster weeks.

Thanks Dawn and Cindy. I know I'm being a worry wart. I've worked so hard to get my thyroid and immune system in good shape that no amount of weight loss would be worth compromising that.
I'll just take the weight loss and be happy with it. I'm in no way complaining, just seems odd. |

I don't have thyroid issues, but I am cold on DDs for sure... I still have a lot of weight left to lose, but sometimes lose 3 or so in a week... sometimes 1 in a week... So Dawn is right, it's fits and starts, and if you're just starting out again on JUDDD, maybe it's going faster now, and will slow down as you get to your new goal.
Drink lots of fluids, tea/herbal, water, to flush out any weight loss by-products as well as let your body know it is hydrated and doesn't need to hold on to more water to compensate. I think it will slow down eventually. And the cold is normal for JUDDD people as far as I know.

I am freezing ALL. THE. TIME.
This is the only part of JUDDD that I'm not totally thrilled with. I have lost 3lbs in a matter of 2 days, but like Dawn said with JUDDD its in fits and starts, so while I've had a 5 pound loss in less than a week I've gone 2 weeks with no loss on the scale so I think that is common with this WOE. I highly recommend getting 1 or more electric blankets. I also have 2 space heaters at work. |

Thanks for the responses. I'm usually the one that is burning up all the time. I even keep the vent off in my bedroom and close the door at night so it's about 50 degress in the room. I'm doing IF with an 8 hour window so it's the mornings that I'm so cold. It must be the calorie restriction.

Yes, it is do to the calorie restriction, but I'm even freezing on UDs at this point. Even once I break the fast, which for me is later in the day.

I am often cold too. Hate it but I think it started before JUDDD. (I am hypot. and have been on Armor for 2 years.)
I have noticed I am rarely cold on UUAADs. Eating large meals really does warm me up. And another oddity is that at night I'm rarely cold. I close the heat vent in my room and sleep under a sheet and thin quilt. If's it's really cold & windy outside (old drafty house) I throw a cotton blanket on top. But even if I was feeling really cold getting into bed, after the first 5 minutes under the covers and I warm up just fine and if I added the blanket it usually gets thrown off during the night. LOL |

Carly, you're going to start a fire!
Don't the electric blankets say not to put anything over them? That's what my mom always said, lol. |

3 pounds a week is not slow but I don't think it's scary either, especially if you are combining 2 weight loss methods. Keep doing as your doing, if the weight loss increases to more than 3 pounds a week after doing this for a month, then I would consider getting your blood work done again. That is my very humble non-medical opinion.

My name is Evon and I have been cold for years. When I was young, I was hot natured. Back in 1985 I found myself weighing 310 lbs and decided I could not go on that way. So I went on the Hilton Head metabolism diet and lost down to 139 lbs. Then I developed high blood pressure and got cold. Been cold since. Until this week. I decdided to try the potato hack and dont know what it was but it heated my body up. I lost 3 lbs in 3 days and my blood pressure is great and I am happy. So if you have not tried it, might be worth a shot. I plan to have potatoes during the week and low carb on the weekend.

I've been on JUDDD for 4 & 1/2 months. I've lost 32 lbs. & most DD's I freeze at some point during the day. I've been very hot natured since I gained all of my weight(part of the heat has been hot flashes for 10 years!!)
Some days I don't warm up until I'm in the middle of an UD. I've lost 5 pounds in one week or less several times. But, that was early on this plan. January was my slowest for weight loss. I think everyone's MMV; but, I don't feel that a 3 pound loss in a week is too much. I can lose that much in a day just due to water weight! ![]() Keep up the good work!!

Well, I had gotten over the DD freezing but today it is back with a vengence. Hope that means I am losing fat again. Since I had an electric heather going in the kitchen DH made a comment about being cold. The thermostat said the house was 76 degrees but I think it lied.
