I just ate my cat

Ok well I didn't really, I don't even have a cat but if I tell you this is my first DD the title my might make more sense

Ive just finished reading the Alternate day book and I'm going to give this a go, for the weight loss yes but also for the well being people seem to experience on this way of life.

I've been low carb all week and I am feeling good for this so for the first few weeks I will remain low carb while I get over my fear of carbs but eventually I'd like to do this lowish carb but not as low as I've been.

I don't weigh myself but will monitor how I'm going by my jeans, energy and well being.

I'll update in a month or so

Thanks for all of the info in this forum I would have never heard of this otherwise

Jen

Ok for more things

I'm really excited about this eating philosophy and i think it will help with guilt. Knowing you can legally have a few wines and eat freely as long as you have a DD the next day is quite a liberating thought.

Turns out the first DD wasn't so bad, I had a few hunger pangs in the afternoon but I just had a nice warm shower and by the time I was finished they were gone.

I am not an emotional or binge eater anymore (probably have been binge free for a few years now) so I'm not worried about going crazy on UP's but rather look forward to eating some yummy salads with full fat dressing and some protein. Also means I can attend my sacred girls nights without feeling guilty for drinking wine!

Ok last thoughts for tonight I promise ha ha

Good Luck Aussie! I know how hunger pangs are. Yesterday was a DD for me and even the school lunch (where I work) looked yummy and I know they are really gross! I was just hungry LOL

Ur title did catch my attention. We have a David cat that is so heavy right now due too his winter coat. he looks like a skinny cat in a fur coat.

Jen!

I was so happy when I discovered this group last year-- I try to stay pretty LC too, but knowing that you *can* have carbs and not blow up your whole week or month, is very powerful in overcoming guilt/eating issues. I've been doing this since last April, and I've had a lot of "ah-ha" moments along the way, and now feel quite in control of my eating, on DDs certainly and on most UDs as well. Sometimes they get away from you, but there's no guilt associated with that.

Like with all things, what you get out of JUDDD is what you put in. I do best when I follow the plan properly, not monkeying with my UD-DD rotations, eating good foods (not overly laden with anything-- carbs, fat, salt, etc). What's nice is that it is open to the occaisional treat, and again, no self-recrimination.

So, as Cindy's tag line says-- relax, rejoice, rotate

Thank you all so much for th awesome friendly welcomes, I'll check out some other threads in JUDD and try and become a little more active on the boards and hey maybe I could become a little more active in my non Internet life too ha ha

Day 2 and a miracle has occurred, I woke up at 5:30am!!!!!!!

This is truly a miracle for me because I've been battling (and beatin) chronic fatigue since I was 18 - I'm now 30 - the last time I woke up this early was before CF. usually I have a fear if I wake up before my 7:30am alarm that I have to go back to sleep to get every minute I can to face the day but I don't feel like that today. I'm going to read some Hubger Games then go for a walk before work !!!

Ok thanks again for the welcomes and see you on the boards

A very, excited and shocked, Jen

Yeah Chronic Fatigue has been pretty awful, I had to do my final year of high school over 2 years because I could only attend classes part time but that was a long time ago now and those days are way in my past, ironically before I got it I was so active and full of energy ALL the time, I even played soccer for my State.

The good thing is I get better every single year with conscious effort so I actually have more energy now at 30 than I did in my early twenties....

My hubby and I are looking to start a family soonish too so I'd rather have my energy back now when I'm going to need it the most!!!

Sure I missed quite a lot of fun when I was younger because I slept through it but I'm pretty good at partying these days so I've definitely made up for lost time I'm always the last to go to bed at our girly wine & cheese parties which fills me with some weird pride because back in the day I could only ever last until 10:30pm....

I have a gut feel that this way of eating is going to wonders for my energy too which I am REALLY excited about.

Ok back to my skinny chai latte - YUM so nice to have a chai instead of normal I've missed this while low carbing!!!

Thanks again all for the warm welcomes looks like you've got a pretty cool kinda club going on here~

Jen! JUDDD has helped a lot of people improve chronic health problems, and I hope it helps you with chronic fatigue. In general, the down days get easier and that health benefits increase, the longer you stay with it.

Check in and post often. I can tell that we are going to enjoy your sense of humor around here.

I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue in 2009 after my spine surgery. It had been really agonizing and I have to say my energy level has increased by over 1000% for sure since JUDDDing. I never really *owned* the diagnosis and just assumed the exhaustion was another crazy part of my rheumatological issues, but it may have been chronic fatigue, but I'm just glad it's better. I still can't stay up past 10pm that often, but I get up at 5:30am for work and most days I keep on going with reasonable strength till after 7pm. That is remarkable for me.

Thanks yeah I'm a natural blonde but I dye my hair brown sometimes when I get bored. Avi is when I was quite a bit thinner but still quite overweight. My first goal is to get back to this weight 170lbs where I liked my face but not body and then to get to 135 where I like both. My face changed dramatically once I went over 185/190lbs....

Anyway I have a big question for anyone that happens to read this. I'm feeling awful today because I went crazy on my first up day - I haven't counted yet because the number will scare me. Is this common on a first up day????????

Im pretty confident it won't happen again especially because of how it made me feel but it has scared me.

Any advice and should I do two DD's to make up for it?

I know that would at least get my cals to where it should have been for the 4 days in total?

Any advice welcome

No need to do two DDs. JUDDD is forgiving. Resume your normal rotations and call this a learning experience.

What works best for me is to log everything before I eat it. I know that may sound extreme, but if I just went by what I wanted to eat with no regard to the calories, I could easily go way over my UD limits.

That's a great idea - I do keep a food diary but I always write down what I ate after instead of before. I think this will help a lot. It's Saturday morning in Oz cause we're a day ahead which means I'm now on my second DD must say i'm so glad to have this DD and I know by tomorrow the guilt and full feeling will at least be gone and I can have a planned UD tomorrow and choose just 1 or 2 things I enjoy and fit them into my UP cals rather than trying to have a bit of everything that I couldn't have when low carbing.

Weirdest thing ever my hubby just told me he's watching a show I might be interested in watching and my response was "ha ha better not be the UFC" which he loves and i hate and he goes no its a show on Horizon on fat, fasting and hormones - so I told him that's exactly what I'm reading about at the moment - how weird!!!

I wasnt going to tell him about what I'm doing for a while because he loves our low carb bond but I can tell he's over low carbing anyway and he breaks it every second day too so now I will be able to discuss this with him, would be a fun thing to do together

P.s if you ever want to know what's going to happen tomorrow just ask me cause I'm already there ha ha or anything about Australia for that matter. Three of my best friends are from the States but live in Sydney Australia and I love chatting with them about the similarities and differences between Australia and the US like the fact fanny means bum in the states and vijay jay in Oz!

Thanks for replying
