Hi, just marking my spot. Have been looking into JUDDD for a while now, would be interested in seeing what others ask.
I've been low carbing for a couple of years and won't stray away from it too much even if I decided to go on JUDDD. My main struggles are with feeling discouraged and unmotivated. I've been dieting on and off for the last 30 years with spotty results ( only about 32 lbs in the past 3 years or so of LCing) and sometimes I wonder if there is a point to it, if I would ever be somewhat normal and not very obese.

Just want to say hello and today was my second DD and it was pretty easy...
I was hungry around 3 pm so I had a coffee and now I am waiting for my dinner to cook ( cabbage roll casserole) How do you get over that 3 pm hump? I can't seem to get pass the HWC in my coffee ...that was the plus side of LC BUT instead of 2 Tablespoons I only have 1 I know I am giving up alot of calories for a few coffee but I dont like milk What do you put in your coffee?

Food for thought - no pun intended.....ok forget it....i meant the pun
This is what made me give JUDDD'ing a go....this fellow ultimately chooses the 5:2 approach but in the end the health benefits are compelling either way Hope you are as inspired by this video as I am..... I ended up giving up coffee on DDs since half and half (the amount I like) was too high. It was not nearly as hard as I thought and I ended up drinking a lot less coffee on UDs, too. Probably a really good thing for me.
Now that I'm nearing goal I'm allowing myself coffee on DD, half a cup at a time. I now really love tea and still drink more tea on DDs which I don't add cream to so I can have as much as I like and not worry about the calories adding up. We have a good thread on tea and I'll link it later.

I drink a Folgers baked berry flavored coffee with some splenda other wise I normally use whipping cream in it.That is going to have to change too.
BUT I really like Bigelow Constant Comment tea. It is really good or True Blueberry.I purchase both of them at WalMart. Can someone tell me how to count carbs? I know 15gms equal one carb. So so do you go by the gms or the carbs when counting? Last edited by Berta48; 02-02-2013 at 03:31 PM.. |

I am a coffee FIEND! and I really cannot drink it without creamer or HH. Coffeemate is 10 cal per tsp. I think I could sacrifice some calories for creamer on my DD.
Is that OK? ![]() |

I put HWC in my coffee on UDs and non-fat milk in my coffee on DDs. But I have almost always used skim milk in my coffee until I switched to LC and using the HWC. I started liking it, so now I alternate. I find that drinking hot liquids really, really, really helps get me through my DDs. I start with coffee, often will have tea throughout the morning and early afternoon. I start drinking bullion and am currently making my first batch of bone broth (there's a thread on that too). I also finish off with diet hot chocolate. I've had days where I only drink my cals. Other days I need something solid. So I like things like celery (but I like plain celery), HB eggs, greek yogurt +/- frozen blueberries. Others use low cal frozen meals; other low cal dense foods are things like veggies, potatoes, lean meats - there are several threads on DD meal ideas and usually a DD daily thread where we post what we're having or plan to have. The biggest thing I learned is that hunger is not an emergency! Don't be afraid to be a little hungry on a DD because, tomorrow, you can eat whatever you want!!!

No, you don't. The time we usually try to make up our cals is when we're short on UDs. The bit that works is the swing between the calories. So if you're short today and hit your UD goal tomorrow, there will be that much more of a swing with that much more of a benefit. If you're done for the day, its ok to be done!! Well done!!!!

The wonderful thing about JUDDD is you can use your calories on anything you please. If you want your 350 calories to be in chocolate that is fine. A lot of people drink most of there DD calories in their coffee. I have extenuating circumstance so I try to eat less than 150 on DDs. However, I'm nearing goal so I have to put the breaks on anyway and will add back some coffee on DDs.
Dr. Johnson says a zero calorie DD is optimal, but figured most people would not be willing to do this so he figured that our DD calories are low enough to be considered a fast. Never feel like you have to eat all your DD calories. Try to eat all or very close to them on UD. This keeps our metabolism stoked and guessing so the weight drops off. |

I have 3 meals a day on DD. I've always been a breakfast person. I hold off as long as I can on breakfast. I usually end up eating at 9am or 10am which is late for me because I get up pretty early most days. Then I have lunch a little later than normal and dinner around 6-6:30. This gets me over the 3pm hump and I'm not normally hungry at bed time so I can sleep. everyone. |

I'm not sure I understand your question. You can find the calorie and carb content of most foods online, if the product does not have a food label. There should be serving size listed in the nutritional information, which will tell you how much food = how many calories/carbs. On JUDDD, you don't HAVE to count carbs. The only thing that is required to count is calories. However, as you cruise the boards, you'll see that some of the JUDDD BUDDDs do count carbs and do a combo low carb/counting calorie approach. You don't have to, but some of our friends have found this approach works best for them. If you have a smart phone, there are many cal counter aps available that can make tracking much easier. If you Google "calorie tracking app", on my results, the 3rd non-sponsored link is the app I use because it comes as a free Android app and I can use it on my computer as well. You can also get that app for the iPhone, just set my dad up with it as well. It is, in my experience, the one with largest database. You can also customize it to keep track of the specific things you're interested in. I hope this helps. I'm not sure I answered your question but... ??? |

How many calories in an ounce of onions. How many calories in a cup of diced cucumber. I always find what I'm looking for this way. |

newbies!!! Love to read all of your questions. It helps those of us who are not as new too. Alison, don't get discouraged. Most people gain a little after initial losses. You will find, if you're like most JUDDDers, that you bounce around (on the scale) a lot! Some months you may lose more, some none, but you will keep going down if you stay with the plan. I get discouraged too, but we all need a little reminder every now and then that things really are working.
