![]() Keeping it simple and doing it as it is written are the simplest and best ways to work this plan. If, after a month or so, things are not moving then is the time to re-evalutate if necessary. |

I bought the book for step 1 and read it for step 2.
When I started I did 500/2000 and started using the shakes. I stayed at those calories until I stopped losing then dropped to very low DD's and 1800-2000 UD's. I have rarely ben able to hit my 1600 UD figure. Usually over by a mile. My current calculator figures are 351/1586 for my age and weight and height. I can go lower on DD's and add to my UD's which makes me happier. I am still trying to lose a few pounds though. Maintenance is more like 771/1586 but those numbers don't make me happy so I keep to the lower DD's so I have more on UD's. BUT I am below my original goal weight and anything I lose now is just vanity pounds. You will also notice how long it took me to lose my weight since I enjoyed my UD's. I hit goal in October and maintained through Christmas and jumped back into WLM in January.

From Nancy in an older thread
I found this while reading back threads (a past time I highly recommend for newbies). I hope she doesn't mind my posting it here. I copied and saved it to my computer at the time I came across it and now, of course, I can't find the original thread again. So apologies for not properly referencing it.
From Nancy, an explanation of how JUDDD works: "Sirtuin proteins are created when the body recognizes a caloric deficit, they do three things we are concerned with: 1) they run around the body cleaning up old, dead cells; and the innards of cells that are sickly. They send the detritus to be burned as fuel. And, in the process of cleaning up they can make great improvements in our health. 2) they support fat burning, in fact they appear to be critical to making the body burn fat and preserve muscle 3) for some of us, they reduce feelings of hunger Sounds great, doesn't it? It is. The trick is that the body only generates them for a fairly short time. After an average of 40 hours, if the body is still in a calorie deficit, it stops producing SIRTs and changes over to burning fat and muscle. By eating very low one day, we invoke the SIRTs and burn fat (and get a nice internal dusting and cleaning). By eating high the next day, we turn off the calorie deficit and prevent muscle being used for fuel. That is the magic to the rotation. Gradually, over time, we accumulate enough SIRTs that they hang around and keep working on UD. At that point, weight loss usually speeds up a bit...even if it does not speed up, it becomes very stable and predictable. When we have a - ahem - body-full of SIRTs, it takes about two weeks to burn them all away. That is why going on vacation for a week or so may cause a bounce, but returning to the rotation and losing the bounce is usually very easy. I hope that helps. "

Well, to be fair, they're Old Navy size 10 (I'm convinced ON is huge on the vanity sizing) and they're the stretchy ones and they're snug but...
I was trying to say that the inches are being lost. On 31-Dec, the night before starting this journey, I could not get these same jeans past mid-thigh. I'm pretty curvy too - the hips have, in the past, presented a challenge cuz I'd buy something large enough to fit over the bum & it would be super baggy at the waist. My overall shape doesn't tend to change as my weight changes, so the same styles work for me, I just have to buy them in different sizes. Low rise pants were, for me, a God send because finally I could find something that fit both the backside and the (2-3" below) waist. Anyway, serious digression. My point was stick with the numbers you're given on the calculator and don't try to fudge until you are pretty solid in this WOE. |

161 here and some of my 12s are tight, some are baggy, but I haven't even considered trying on 10s yet. It's weird though, I was in 10s at this weight 15 years ago. I'm not sure what's going on with me and vanity sizing--it doesn't seem to apply.

168 here, and size 12 Cold water Creek that,s a size 14 in everything else. When I was186, I was a size 16, but wore all size 14 because I refused to by bigger clothes. I am also the person you see, who is 'hippy' and walks around in high waters.

LOL, I've got some other size 10s and 12s that don't yet fit. Even some of the different style ON stuff, in size 12 (like my khaki pants) aren't fitting yet but they're better than they were in 31-Dec!
Its funny how different stuff fits different people at different sizes and shapes! I'll likely be in 10's a while, I wore them back when I was around 160. I remember one year I basically gained 30 pounds and my work friend was like "You haven't changed at all". I dont know where I put it, I'm not tall, but no one thinks I'm as heavy as I am when they look at me. I guess my shape hides it well. Who knows. |

Today is my first UD so eating normally. Feels weird and I do feel guilty but I know eating UD to it's fullest is the key from what I can tell from all the post. My first DD was yesterday and did okay just need to mentally get my mind off food so it is not constant. I hate that I am a daily weigher but will hold off till Sunday to weigh again. Should I weigh after and UD or DD? I need to work on water, water, water.....I know I don't drink enough. I guess just have the total amount that needs to be consumed bottled so I know I just need to finish it before the end of the day.

Sherri - I weigh daily and write it on my calendar. I like to be able to track on a daily basis. Sometimes I can even figure out a pattern. But it isn't necessary to weigh daily. Dr. J suggests weekly if I remember correctly from my book. I loaned it so can't check.

Finished my first UD and weighed this morning. I was down .5lbs and while that may not be much I really expected a increase more than anything. I felt like I just ate all day long. Got the Better than Boulion Chicken that I will have at lunch. I did find Tyson grilled chicken in the can for 50 calories for 2oz so thinking about adding that into my stock to give me some solid food to eat. I feel successful even though my scale haven't moved much.

Day 10 on JUDDD and the morning after DD5 and I've lost a whopping total of 6.6lbs!! Not a binge in that time however my UD's were prob too high calorie but my DD's are low and clean,.
![]() Those last 10 lbs are hard to lose so it says so much for JUDDD that I could do this. Only 3.3 lbs to get to my lowest HCG weight and then I might keep going for another 3 for cushioning and then maintenance I am so so happy I have found a program that works apart from HCG. I love HCG but I couldn't face the limited foods again ![]() On another HCG Board I had read how some people thought once you lose on HCG you can't lose any other way and I was convinced this would happen to me. I'm happy to say that is a fallacy, in my case anyway. Love love jUDDD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Aack just looking at my post and I hope it doesn't come across as bragging I'm just so thrilled with JUDDD. My weight this time last year was 231 and I'm 129. It took 12 months to lose that weight - could probably take a month to put it back on - maintenance will be lifelong.
