I am speachless! I had a DD yesterday and all I thought about was the UD. Sad I know. Today I have to force myself to eat. Had breafask, now soup for lunch. I am amazed, no cravings, I know the food is there, but I really don't want any. I love this way of eating, just need to get my DD in order.

I only change mine once a month, and because I have nothing to report but that often.

I tried those shakes too, Berta. I can't do it either. I was starving within 30 minutes, lol. Plus, the ones I had were low carb with 25 g of protein, supposedly. I drank the rest of the ones I had on UD's as a snack.

Having a little trouble with the UDs...

Ok, so I'm posting this here since I am a newbie and I don't want to clutter up the boards with a new thread.

I've been informally trying to go an 8 hour window for eating as well as my UD/DD rotation. But I'm having trouble with eating and then going to bed. Last night I had pork roast, roasted potatoes and onions, and went my stomach hurt so bad after eating the volume I needed to hit my UD goal of 1900. Then when I woke up this morning on my DD my stomach was a mess. I can't eat that much at night, I guess.

Wondering if there are any tips, other than maybe trying to eat some higher cal density foods at night if I need to hit goal, but I still get an upset stomach. Making a rule like "No more food after 8pm" isn't 100% realistic for me because of my work schedule - that might mean no dinner which would then mean not hitting my UD cals.

Thanks!!!

I can't do a window as an absolute rule. I aim for it, but my UD/ DD rotation is more important to me than the window. I could not always do it 100% with work and or schedule issues. The window is more critical to avoid over eating. Not so good if it prevents needed nutrition.

Yennie I think just now you might need to abandon your 8 hour windo, if it is causing you issues like this. It is asking a lot of your body to adapt to the rotations of JUDDD and also to eat larger meals when it doesn't really suit you.

It sounds as if this is a problem that won't just pass with time if your work pattern requires you to eat later. I am assumingf you used to eat your main meal earlier in the day?

My only suggestion is could you eat your main meal before work then have a lighter meal in the evening?

Most people can't eat a big meal right before bed.

Yennie, I have the opposite problem, although it doesn't prevent sleep (if i can abstain). I tend to eat too many calories early, so I *have* to eat a light dinner. Maybe it's a good thing. I think it's better to go to bed a little hungry than to go to bed miserable. Like Cindy said, try eating a bigger lunch, or breakfast, and a smaller dinner. This new in the game, throwing in a eating window on top of adf might be too much of a challenge IMHO.

I am only a newbie also but I think maybe your pushing yourself just a little to hard...

My DD I am suppose to have 435 but I never eat that much...
usually have a black coffee for Breakfast and a clear broth for lunch and then I will have about 300 to 350 calories for my dinner and then my UD
I have a good breakfast about 400 calories lunch between 600 and 800 calories and then a normal dinner (about 600 calories)and whatever is rest is snacks during the day....my UD numbers are 2165
its alot of calories but I try and get them in....I use real butter and heavy cream on my UD to fill in the extra calories
Hope this helps

I wish I had a good idea, I am so sorry about your stomach the only thing I thought of is could your 8 hour window be earlier in the day? Is it possible to eat at work and finish up by say 6 or 7 pm? And eat your highest calories at lunch?

I was really trying to do the meal replacements for my DD, however, I have been starving on the days I use them. I have decided real food is the answer for me. This morning I had 1 egg and and 4 strips of pre-cooked bacon, for a total of 140 calories (less than meal replacement) and I am satisfied not hungry at all. Work in progress.

I find the very same thing for me to be true. The meal replacement I use is 190 cal but I was hungry almost immediately after I drank it and I drank it slowly. Those may become my snack just to get rid of them
I want food in my tummy!!!

Good Morning,
I am having fun doing this diet. Just had had one DD and one UP but have lost .4 lb. since I am close to my goal I am most happy. Today is the second DD and I just can't believe that I am not hungry. I had a sugar free, fat free coffee at Barnes and Noble earlier which is 100 cals. I am trying to save most of my calories for dinner so that will probably be it for the day unless I have some broth. Amazing.

Miss Mary
Don't you just Love JUDDD? I told my husband just this morning."I know this is another diet. But honey I just love the no guilt feeling".
Before on any other plan if I went off the guilt came and then it was like "oh well I cheated, so I might as well go ahead and eat." But on this one there is no guilt because everything is allowed!!!!!Thank you GOD for JUDDDD!

You are doing amazingly well. You will be there before you know it. Me.... I have a looooong journey ahead.BUT I will make it this time

Berta ,yes, the 'no guilt' is such a plus to this WOE. I had Einstein Bagel Brother's for lunch today, and when I added my calories, I realized I had eaten 1068! For ONE meal. But I don't have to feel guilty, I don't even have to starve myself for the rest of the day, I still have almost 800 calories I can eat today, and that's hardly depriving myself. Plus, I can do the same thing again Monday, if I want

I posted this in another thread, but wanted to share it here as well

Hi ladies
Just a quick reminder about links and directs to other sites.
Most all the diet plans pages are sales sites, so please do not link them.
You can suggest a google (google johnson up day down day calculator, as an example) but please don't "dot com" or link to it

If you haven't looked, the short TOS and an announcement about tracking sites are linked below:
Terms of Service - Policy Modification

Low Carb Friends - Announcements in Forum : Main Lowcarb Lobby

Some of you may notice your posts have been edited or removed, this is the reason

One more quick note: please be very very careful about giving out any personal information. Your safety is of the highest priority to LCF and we really have no way to verify that someone is who they say they are, so be very careful with what personal info you share
It's also stated in the TOS not to give out personal info, again your safety is most important to LCF

I do love th no guilt. I love the fact that I can eat what ever I want within our cal alotment for the day. Ended up with big cup of broth and a couple of T of Rotel for lunch. Very satisfying. Can't believe it. Have a good Sat.

Berta have you ever thought of using almond milk? The unsweetened kind is only 35cals per cup!
Add in some sugar free coffee syrup and you'll never miss the creamer

I'm not a real big breakfast eater so its harder to spread out the cals throughout the day. My capacity to eat ginormous amounts is diminishing thanks to the DDs. I'm also panicking about "saving" my calories, as in, not blowing them all too early and then stuck hungry later in the day and not having anything available to eat.
My pre-JUDDD pattern was to often skip breakfast or have a light breakfast. Lunch depended on where I was and what I was doing. The 4-5pm time, late afternoon, was often my death knell. For no reason that I could ever determine, as it seemed independent of what was going on that day, I'd often become ravenous and eat anything I could get my hands on. I think part of me is trying to save my UD cals for the end of the day so I can "feed the 4:00 beast" - although I manage to power through it fine on DDs. So maybe its mental and I need to get over myself, and work harder to spread out the cals so I'm not trying to sleep with 1100 calories of potatoes & roast pork sitting in my stomach like a brick.
Work in progress, right?

Almond milk is a great idea - I have it with a whey protein powder and some liquid vanilla creme stevia - its delicious and very low calorie.

Kissa suggested I post the following in here rather than the Feb weigh in thread - she thought I would get some input. Here tis:

had a bad UD yesterday being the weekend - felt like throwing the towel in on JUDDD because I'm starting to see the UD as an eat everything day. I didn't bother counting calories in the end, I went way, way over. I almost started to get into that binge trance but thankfully it was mindless grazing.

Today is DD and I'm feeling better. I read somewhere, here or in his book, that you have to do at least 9 DD's to start feeling the benefits, so I'm going to try and stick it out until then (this is DD4). I'm addicted to waking up on the morning of an UD and feeling thin - it's the best feeling and is what keeps me going.

Have decided to use someone's idea here, sorry I can't remember who, to write down beforehand a plan of the UD and cross off as I go. TBH I have no idea what to eat on an UD. For me it needs to be minimal cooking so I'm not around food, so I need to plan more. It's crazy that the UD is harder than the DD...

What worries me is some of the vets here have said that the UD's get worse at time goes by

Mojocat,

First, in the interest of full disclosure, I've only been JUDDDing since 1/21 so I am, by no means, an expert. But I will share with you some ideas that have worked for me and things I've read have worked for others but haven't had to implement.

I'd be lost without my calorie tracking app on my phone. But I'm a numbers gal. Plus it holds me accountable - I can't "fudge" it. The numbers are what they are, and I also need to be 100% diligent about entering EVERYTHING. I'm the type that if I start to fudge on one thing I'll fudge on it all and then I'm out of control.

I've spent a lot of time reading the UD and DD threads for menu ideas. I'd been doing Atkins before I switched, and also had spent some time doing restricted cal so I was kinda in the right mindset but definitely needed ideas.

Seems many of us spend a lot of time telling ourselves that we can have it tomorrow. Or, in 2 days if we're close to the edge on an UD. Just get through tomorrow's DD and then Krispy Kreme here I come! LOL, maybe not but the mind games really really help a lot of us. Especially since we CAN have it tomorrow (or the next day) with just a titch of planning.

It really helps, too, to come here and post about what is happening in your day. There is usually a daily UD or DD thread - if not, feel free to start one of hitch a ride on one that's already been started. Sometimes talking it out here, to people who get it, is enough to get you over the hump and able to move forward without struggle or guilt.

Just a few ideas I hope are helpful. I love the idea of basically getting to eat whatever I want every other day and lose weight. And I'm losing! And so are you so you know its working even with a few less-than-ideal UDs. That's what this is all about - one day at a time. As Pumbaa says, "You've got to put your behind in your past!"

I just bought my first carton of Blue Diamond Unsweetened Almond Milk a couple of weeks ago. It's 40 cals per 8oz. It really does have an almond taste but not enough to take away from the actual milk taste/feeling. It's low in carbs and fat too and it lasts much longer than milk. We bought it in January and the expiration is not til mid March! Good for me since I don't drink it every day.

Berta - I too was losing after UD's the first few weeks of JUDDD. I thought I was an odd ball! Now it's switched around.

My one month JUDDDiversary is tomorrow! I had Mexican food and margaritas last night so my one month loss may not be what I wanted it to but it's fine.

I've done really well today. Trying to lower my DD calories from 500-650 down to less than 500. I had an Atkins bar for 210 around 1pm and just now have eaten some chicken breast and onions/beans maybe not even a 1/2 cup of beans/onions total so hoping that will ring in around 200 or so.
