Whoa, that is excellant! I'd have been wiping some tears myself. My doc's office scale always makes me wipe tears as well, but not the good kind.

Hot-in-Texas....what was the name of that doctor???

Not once in my life have I ever weighed less on a doctor's scale!!! That would have made my day!!!

Phyl

Meant to ask you...Do you live like way out in West Texas, or in West,Tx. by Waco? If this is too nosey, I will understand! I grew up (for the most part) in Lubbock. Was born in Dallas tho. I still miss the climate! Phyl

Sher...That is so cool.

I left Lubbock way way back in 1974, after marrying. All of my fam lives this direction now too, so I don't really have ties there.

Not many friends still there either. My closest life-long friend lives about 5 minutes from me! and her parents retired up here too.

Anyway, it's heartwarming to say the least...that you live there. I KNEW there was something special about you!!! My DH's fam still live in an itty -bitty town 45mi. further West-Southwest of Lubbock. LOVE KNOWING THIS!!! I think we still have some West Texas sand in our c....!

That is very cool Phyl! I thought there was something special about you too!
I have a niece that lives in Dallas or a suburb of(I'm sad to say I don't know exactly where she lives, but she is in nursing school, she is 22.)
I moved to Lubbock in 1985, when I was a sophomore in HS.
I've been thinking I migh move somewhere like Dallas someday, or just somewhere besides Lubbock. I it, but I need a change soon!

We ate out tonight at a lovely Japanese restaurant in our city. But we will continue to celebrate this weekend. We are making plans to go to Florida in April. We will see my grandmother and go to the beach!

Sexy new swimwear required!

I bought the Michael Mosley 'Fast Diet' book discounted in the supermarket today. I already have it on my Kindle so it was a bit extravagant but I like a 'hard copy'. Good for using recipes too.

To run or not to run...

Sadly (or not) - not really a question.

So I've decided that I am, for sure, not going to try to run the 1/2 on the 17th. I will ask the race director if I can walk maybe 4-6 miles of the course, if he says no then we'll just cheer on DH who will be going for his PR (personal record) with this race.

I told my mom we may need to do the 5K instead of the 15K. She said she was fine with walking slower and not making time BUT...if we don't make time on the race then we don't get the finisher's mug filled to the brim with yummy chocolate treats so...

I'm trying to convince DH to let me sign up for the Lululemon SeaWheeze 1/2 in Vancouver BC in August. I did it last year, it was their inaugural race, and there were definitely some bumps that need to be smoothed out but overall I liked it and want to do it again. Its 80% full right now and I'm sure will fill up fast. He's dragging his feet because he thinks I'll hurt myself getting ready for it. I've never had an asthma like issue before, and I realize it could totally be brought on from recovering from the flu, so I don't think I'll still be having trouble in August but he's reluctant. Plus its C$128 entry and that's kind of a lot for a race entry (to compare, it was $30 to enter the one on the 17th). But we'll see.

I did buy a treadmill off Craigslist. Its a super low end one but I had hoped if I ran inside where its warmer I might be able to get some miles in without passing out. Worth a try anyway...
