January was a slow month...looking forward to a fabulous February! Goal: 218, exercise 5 days a week and reduce carbs.
2/1 - 227 - MD (Don't like to use an MD, but Superbowl just can't be a DD) - hip hop aerobics 2/2 - 224.9 - DD - 1 hour walk (with short stops to take photos and take in the views!) 2/3 - 223.4 - UD - That makes 50 pounds evicted! 2/4 - 225.1 - DD |

Hi everyone! My name is Deborah (clearly I couldn't spell the day that I created my username) and I have been following JUDDD for a month now. Last week was no good at all because my son had the flu and then I got it and it was just a mess. I didn't feel like cooking and ordered a lot of junk to be brought in. So here I am, starting back today introducing myself to everyone and having a successful down day!
January loss was 9 lbs. Ended January (1/25/13) at 228.6 Begin February 230.0 February goal 225 2/4 ~ 230.0 (my first official weigh-in of the month, up 1.4 lbs from before we became sick and shut in) |

I have been on the modified JUDDD program for 5 days now - doing 5:2. Tomorrow will be my second DD. The issue I am having is that based on the Dr. J analysis of UD vs DD calorie intake, I should be at around 2080 UD and 416 DD. Since I started, on my UD, I am barely able to crest 1000 - 1200 calories and on my DD I am able to stay within the suggested range.
Is this detrimental with such low intake on UD given I do workout on my UD? C |

Yes, 1000-1200 calories, especially with exercise, is low. You don't have to hit the up day calories, but if you don't get pretty close (within 300 calories might be a good guideline?) you miss out on the rotation calorie spread that is meant to keep your metabolism up ....and make this the fun diet. It could also be hard to stick to long term. It's counterintuitive right now, but adding calories on up days should help you lose faster. At this point (6 months of JUDDD), I have the opposite problem (would like more up day calories)!I just noticed that your current weight is 135? If so, your up day calories sound high? If you're comfortable posting your height and age we'd be happy to help with the calories, or try the site again to double check.

JUDDD BUDDDS
After 9.5 months and 9.5 pounds later - it is time for me to say goodbye. This is not working me. I should have listened to my body many, many months ago. As someone with relatively little to lose I have found JUDDD detrimental to my emotional health and well being. This is MY journey and it's time to move on. I will never forget my JUDDD BUDDDS! I wish you all continued success in your quest for weight loss. |

Last two January weights were 188.6 after UD and 187.6 after DD.
2/1 ~ 189.4 ~ MD ~ ??? ~ Net ???? ~ Bit of a bounce from yesterday's weight... 2/2 ~ 190.0 ~ UD ~ 2000'ish? ~ Net ??? ~ Yesterday turned into a mid day when I had some chicken and rice at dinner when I was already done for the day, today is a new day! 2/3 ~ 189.8 ~ DD ~ 411 ~ Net -1872 ~ I'd saved about 1000 calories yesterday for going out to eat, ended up being chinese, ate alot, so who knows what my numbers were.. Today is a Coffee w/ HWC DD! 2/4 ~ 188.0 ~ UD ~ 2185 ~ Net -674 ~ Total Body Workout 2/5 ~ 190.0 ~ DD ~ ??? ~ Net ???? ~ Hoping I wouldn't bounce that high...

It's recommended that you use the calorie number for "little or no exercise", unless you are an athlete or training for a marathon. It's up to you, of course, but since you are having trouble eating up to your numbers, the calculation for your age/weight/height at no exercise is 1604/321. Hope that helps!
ETA: You said you are able to get to 1200, so if you can get up to 1300-1400 on UDs, you should be fine. If you are LC, a fat bomb, heavy whipping cream with coffee, bacon...

![]() Civil, it's important to eat up to the UD calories so your body doesn't go into starvation mode. Because you'll average a calorie deficit over the week, it's important to eat well on UDs. If you're low carb, you can boost the cals without bulk by introducing healthy fats like butter, cream and coconut oil. Nuts and oily fish are good too. |

Started at 146.5. -3.5lbs in Dec, -6lbs in Jan. Started 5:2 experiment 1/28 @ 137.0. Goal: maintain or loose a few more.
2/1----UD---137.0 Same as my starting 5:2 experiment weight 2/2----UD---137.5 2/3----UD---137.0 2/4----DD---138.5 I don't like that big of a bounce. 2/5----UD---137.0 I'm thinking of maybe alternating 5:2 with some 4:3 weeks to drop a couple more lbs. Hope, good luck with your journey. We will miss you. |

Hello Deborah. You're off to a great start and I'd have called a rise of a mere 1.4 lb during an illness junk food crisis a brilliant result! Many of us bounce more than that after normal UDs.Well done JD. Enjoy the banquets and just fit in a good DD whenever you can. Alison don't worry, the scales don't give a true picture of what's happening! Vanilla that's an amazing result! I'm sure most of it will be water. Ended Jan @ 130 Goal for Feb = 126 01/02 - U - 130.8 02-04 - U - DNW 04/02 - D - 133.8 05/02 - U - 131.6 - Some of the weekend gone! |

I also am having pretty bad pain in my shoulder, swollen fingers from my Raynaud's/chilblains, and I exercised last night for the first time in a week. I'm pretty pleased with today's weigh-in! Hope, do what's best for you. Pop in and visit as you're able. ![]() Civil, you've been given good advice. I personally try to eat every one of my UD calories and rarely have over 100 calories to spare on an UD. Last night I had extra calories, so I had wine and a banana with almond butter. ![]()
