First DD...switched from Atkins
I've been on Atkins (again) for almost 4 weeks now, and haven't really lost anything past the induction loss. I think part of the problem is I'm already balking at the restrictions. I thought I was doing fine, but I keep sneaking tastes of other things.

JUDDD appeals to me because on my UD's I can eat relatively normally and not have to be so high maintenance all the time. I'm okay with the strictness of the DD's as long as I can enjoy my UD's. In theory, anyway. We'll see how it goes.

So this is my first DD! I hope I don't miss my coffee with HWC too much...that was one of the joys of Atkins. I'm drinking some water and a cup of hot coconut-macadamia nut herbal tea that I bought in Hawaii with a Splenda. I'm going to have a greek yogurt in a little bit. I'm trying to make sure my 500 calories are more protein and less carbs, to keep me full longer.

Wish me luck!

Today is my first day on JUDDD also and I just got done planning my whole menu for the day...

My tracker app (on my phone) in one hand and scanning food with my other hand and seeing if I can fit it in or not

Good Luck :high5:

:welcome: poqual! I switched from Atkins too, almost 5 months ago. I actually DO have coffee w/HWC most DD mornings. It's my breakfast, and I might have it for lunch too some days. It really satisfies me. You may find you can still have it sometimes on DDs.

:welcome:! Good luck on JUDDD, be sure to come here often, the support has really helped me.
I liked HWC in my coffee on ATKINS, but I only have it on UDs now. Have a good DD, and remember Hunger is not an emergency. That is what JUDDers told me on my first day, so I'm passing it along!
Give us an update on how you are doing today when you can.

:welcome:Poqal and Cindy! It is great to have you here! DD's get easier after a few weeks when you get used to them and you find what works for you food wise. Keep us posted!

My first DD wasn't that long ago, having also switched from Atkins. There are several DD threads, at least one that's been sticky'ed to browse through for meal/food ideas.

You'll find you're in good company, with many of us having jumped Atkins ship due to the restrictions. The relative lack if restrictions on UD and the ability to maintain long term with this WOE are 2 things that have appealed to many of the JBs. You'll find, if you stick around (and I really hope you will!) that some of the longer term gals are really experienced & inspirational! Literally hundreds of pounds lost & kept off!!

Hi, Cindy and poqal. :hiya: I'm still doing low carb but added JUDDD to it in late October. I promise you that the down days get easier over time.

I still use HWC in coffee but just 1 T. on down days, or use half-and-half on down days. A nice thing about JUDDD is that it will accomodate whatever you really want to eat--or some other plan like lowcarb--so long as you stick with your calorie limits and alternate up and down calorie days.

This board is such a supportive place! Consider posting on the daily chat thread, and in the up and down day threads, and in a challenge, as well as with whatever topics interest you. I don't think I could have done JUDDD without all the help I've gotten here, and I encourage you to take advantage of it, too.

:welcome: to both of you. I also switched from straight Atkins and right now I am JUDD/Atkins combo.

HI....switched from atkins. wow. I am atkins and thinking about it also. restrictions are getting hard now and plan is making me feel not so great for some reason. It blows me away to see another atkins jumper into JUDDD.

I wish you the best of luck.

:welcome: I hope you will all read and post and enjoy the support here on the Juddd treads!

Poqal and Cindy, as difficult as dds can be, it really does help knowing you can eat whatever it is you want the next day(not everything you want, but several of them:-) ). Also, it is very empowering learning to be in control of how much you put in your mouth.

So true. I'm on week 2 and today's DD consisted of <150 cals. I just didn't want more. A week ago I would have thought that impossible! If you can mind-over-matter Atkins Induction, this will be a snap!

That's wonderful, Yennie! This WOE seems to suit you perfectly, and it sounds like the appetite suppression and JUDDD calm kicked in almost immediately for you. :high5:

I have some difficult DDs and some easy DDs, but overall JUDDD has gotten easier for me over time (just passed the 3 month mark, myself).

Thanks!!! But, LOL, watch I blow it on Saturday. One day at a time friends!!!

Today is UD and I ca't believe I made it threw the first DD:hyst:
I had some up and down points during the day and about 9 pm in the evening I wanted to goto bed because I was fighting the "FAKE" hunger

I wasn't hungry but my mind was telling my stomach... " DONT LET HER DO THIS TO YOU...YOU WANT FOOD...YOU NEED FOOD TO SURVIVE " so after about 15 mins they both gave up and I watched TV in peace :D

Carly 02-01-2013 07:16 AM

The amazing thing is that your brain and stomach will learn that hunger is not an emmergency!

Cindy-lou 02-01-2013 07:47 AM

Yes your right Carly

One day at a time :)

poqal 02-01-2013 08:17 AM

Well, I got through my first DD! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. And I can't wait for lunch today...going to the taco stand and getting a taco & fruit plate...yum! I haven't been able to have that in a while!

Down 1.5 lbs today. Yippee!
