Stats: Maintenance
WOE: JUDDD for WL/5:2 IF for maintenance
Ok, checked my stats and i lost 1.5 new lbs

Right now i'm trying to transition from juddd to 5:2 but i'm having a really hard time doing it because i've got such a mindset of adf and it feels 'wrong' to not do it i'm really close to goal so i may just keep doing juddd for a bit longer, lose a couple more lbs, and then call goal/switch to maintanance and to 5:2 completely. And if i keep losing, all the better

WOE: Intermittent Fasting - low carb
Start Date: August 2013
Hey I used to be a regular in these forums in 2004 I did Atkins/Eat Fat Get Thin/******* type diets and lost a lot of weight and kept it off for over 3 years.... I remember looking at the JUDDD thread at that time and thinking how on earth could that work!

However over the years I found low carb regime too restrictive and gained all the weight back gradually. I would try low carb at times and of course it worked but I didn't have the staying power to keep going with it.

I watched the Horizon program in August like Kate Harrison did, I researched fasting then i started a week later and had lost 30 pounds by November. In that time I tried one 24 hour fast a week/ the 5 2 approach, I've done JUDDD, and a few 48/72 hour fasts too.

I have to admit that I stopped fasting over the holidays and gained about 7 pounds .... I've just started back again - I don't follow any one plan now I just fit my fasting (down days) into my life. It's an amazing way of eating or rather not eating too much! ...and something I think I could do for the rest of my life

I just wanted to say hello again and to say I was totally wrong about JUDDD in 2004 - lol

Again, speaking just for myself, being 16 pounds overweight was a slight inconvenience, but being over 100 pounds overweight was a misery, and I don't think I'd be moved to write a book about getting past an inconvenience.

I should write a book!

I know what you mean, although people with less to lose than you and I started out with have their struggles too. But you make a good point. Lose 16 pounds and keep it off for a couple months and you're qualified to write a book? Hmmmm.

To be fair, she is a well-known novelist and maybe thought her readership would be interested in her WOE. I haven't read it so I don't know if she touts herself as an expert. I do understand what you're saying though, and if that is all it takes to be considered a success (16 lbs over 4 months time), I guess I will soon be able to write a tell-all about ADF.

I enjoyed this book too, it's short but at $2.99 for a kindle download cannot complain, she is very funny and realistic which is relatable.

But you're doing more downwards than upwards and that's what matters.

Hi Joe, welcome and thanks for sharing your amazing journey.

I didn't get the impression Kate Harrison was pretending to be an expert. More like sharing her experience.
I've only lost about 16lbs on JUDDD since September but I'm so confident I can easily keep the weight off that I'm having to be careful not to evangelise.

It's terribly slow, but I think you might be right.

I downloaded the kindle app for free to my iPad and pc and when you buy a kindle book on amazon it sends it to whichever device you select. They sinc as well so whichever page you left on one device will automatically pick up on that page on the other

Just google free kindle download and it should come up, it's a pic of man sitting under a tree with a blue background if that helps

Good to know the word is out there, but I too miss being a member of an elite club. It is so funny when I hear people at the gym raving about it.

I got the book because I was interested. I am glad I did. She doesn't say she's an expert but comes off as a real person talking in a way I totally understand. Not full of medical lingo that bores me or confuses me. I was thinking maybe just fasting on set days of Tuesday and Thursdays might be a little bit of a shake up I need. I love JUDDD but I get to a point of oh yeah another fasting day. Once the weather breaks and I can run safely without fear of frostbite lungs or broken ankles from ice I think a lot of my blahhh feelings will go away and I can get back on track. All in all I too enjoyed the book a lot. I liked the recipes and hints to help too!
