Question about tracking/weighing food
Hi Everyone - I'm going to give this another (serious) go, and will be tracking my calories with an on-line tracker.

Today is an UD for me and I just ate some chicken wings that I broiled. The package says 4 oz. = 220 calories. How would you count this?

4 oz raw = 220 calories

4 oz cooked = 220 calories

cook the wings, weigh them, eat the meat, weigh the bones and count the difference?

Same with potatoes (I've been reading the hack thread). Do you weigh the potato raw or cooked, since a 5oz. potato will weigh less after it is cooked.

I weigh everything raw unless you have calories for it cooked.

On the chicken wings, most trackers count 1 section (a whole wing being 2 sections) at approx 50 calories per section.
I weigh foods raw.

My online calculator gives options for raw or cooked and I usually weigh raw. Easier that way for me.

Thanks everyone.

The tracker I use lets me put in custom foods so I'm taking nutrional info right off of the package. The package says 4 oz = 220 calories, still not sure that means raw weight, cooked weight or just the edible portion without the bones.

Maybe I'll have to contact Perdue....

If that's on the package, then it's usually "as packaged". So if it's raw, then the info is for raw (if that makes sense).
