Chronic Headache???

So I need to ask my fellow JB's a quesiton. Since starting JUDDD 1/3, I have had a headache almost every day. Since I started Ptero, it seems to be worse, and sometimes I even feel light headed. Anyone else go through this in the beginning?

ETA, it is annoying, but my scales hit a new low, 210.9 this morning, so I will keep at it, but wondered if anyone else went through this, and if it subsides. TIA for any help :)

I suffer from headaches pretty regularly (sometimes full-blown migraines, and other times, just regular old pia headaches), but they actually seem to have decreased with JUDDD. I did get migraines every single day I tried Resveratrol, and they went away as soon as I stopped taking it. I tried Pterostilbene and didn't notice any benefit or anything bad, so I quit taking it too.

The only other thing I can think of is electrolytes. Make sure you're getting enough salt if you're not salt-sensitive. :hugs:

Jenn have you added any foods you don't normally eat (or haven't for a long time?). I found that adding back too much wheat causes me headaches and a stuffy nose!

When I started taking Resveratrol they gave me terrible headaches so I quit. Then I started ptero and the same thing BUT I kept taking the ptero and took an Advil too and after awhile the headaches went away. Once in awhile I will still get a headache after taking a ptero but it may be related to what Dawn suggested since it isn't an everytime thing any longer.

Oh MY!!! I have REALLY cut my salt intake down since starting this, and I think you may have just hit the nail on the head!!!! I will try that today, and see if it makes a difference. Thanks so much!!! :shake:

I was LC before JUDDD, but I was off the band wagon, so carbs were already part of my diet, and I didn't have anything to add back in per se, since I was eating it all already. LOL I guess that is why I am here! :o

I had headaches almost every day when I started too, Jenn. In fact, I was taking ibuprophen so often I gave myself a terrible stomachache. Ran out of ibuprophen and got on probiotics (doesn't help the head, but does wonders for the tummy) and just realized when you posted this that I haven't had a headache in ages!! So it does go away! :)

Make sure you get plenty of water too. It's a weird sort of balancing act. Too much salt can cause water retention if you don't drink enough to counteract it. Too much water can flush the salt right out.

JUST what I wanted to hear!!! It does go away with ibuprofen, but who wants to take that every day? I just deal with them, unless it gets out of control. I will be really happy if they go away once my SIRTs start flowing.

Jenn, awesome job with JUDDD! What great success you're having!

I don't really have much to add, except I'm scared to start the supplements now. LOL! I deal with headaches all the time to begin with. No fun! I hope the JB's suggestions will be the ticket for you!

I always suffered with terrible, terrible headaches, but with juddd in gerenal they have improved, but the first month they may have been worse for a short time. The pterostilbene and resveratrol did not increase my headaches, but as the weight has come down I've gone back to my old issue with low blood pressure so I've been adding salt were ever possible and it has helped. Yesterday was the first day in a week or 2 were I got light headed standing up and I've slacked a bit with adding salt. If you (or anyone) wants a salt recommendation let me know.

piratejenny 01-20-2013 09:36 AM

Do you take magnesium? It can help a lot with headaches, and if your electrolytes are off, magnesium may be as well. I take magnesium twice a day already, but I will take a little more if I am in severe pain.

Whenever I have a headache or any body pain (including menstrual cramps), I immediately try to "alkalize" by taking Alka-Seltzer or a little baking soda.

I use unrefined salt every day, and take a little in water if I'm feeling groggy or ill in any way--it helps you hydrate more than just water alone.

The pterostilbene made me feel severely hypoglycemic, so maybe that could be causing your headaches & dizziness?

Hope you feel better today!

I would love to hear it. Thanks!

I ate two slice of low sodium bacon (lol, I know that sounds odd since I was trying to add salt, but there is still quite a bit in there) and it actually has helped a bit. Thanks JB's!

I still feel a bit off a bit but the headache isn't as bad. What are the symptoms you experienced. Do you still take it? Is that a common side effect?

My sxs are:
headache
light headed
fatigue

ETA that I do take a multi vitamin every day, but not sure what the magnesium count is.

LuckyLou 01-20-2013 09:42 AM

Jenn I had dreadful headaches for my first 2 weeks. I get occasional ones on DDs now but I find they're often on days when I haven't been drinking enough water.

Definitely watch out for hydration. I hope you get some respite soon. Good luck!

So this is my new favorite salt: Himalayan (pink) salt and Chilli. The brand I have is Especias Del Sol it is from Spain, but I get it at Home Goods. I also like high quality Kosher Sea Salt in a grinder bottle if you can not find some sort of Himalayan Salt (pink). I put it on lettuce with SF rice vinegar or cucumber slices with SF rice vinegar. I also add it to laughing Cow cheese on Kim's Deli pops. It tastes great on everything- the chilli is a bit spicy, but not overly. I'm sure you can get the Himalan salt w/o the chilli.

No, I don't take it anymore. There's a warning on the bottle that diabetics shouldn't take it...I ordered it online & didn't notice the warning.

It was a few months ago, but IIRC correctly my symptoms were shaking hands, feeling weak in my legs and desperate hunger. But people have different hypo symptoms, like blurred vision & confusion; headaches are definitely a possible symptom.

mamadodge 01-20-2013 06:13 PM

I didn't take my afternoon Ptero, just Resveratrol, and my headache went away all together. I think I am seeing a common denominator here...

Librarygirl 01-20-2013 06:21 PM

Lovely picture, Jenn. :) I love your hair style.

mamadodge 01-20-2013 06:54 PM

Well thank you!!! That was taken in the summer od 2012. My hair is shorter and a bit spikey-er (is that a word? LOL) now.

Librarygirl 01-20-2013 06:57 PM

Did you say your daughter is doing JUDDD too, or are you the daughter? Lol, seems like I read that a long time ago. Sorry if I'm totally confused, which happens. ;)

Carly 01-20-2013 06:57 PM

I really like your hair, too! I tried to get that cut for 3 years and no one did it right. I gave up, but it looks great on you. I'm sure the spiker is cute too!

You have quite a good memory if you can remeember that, but yes, I am the daughter. Textemale-Pat, is my mom.

jenericstewart 01-21-2013 05:59 AM

mamadodge, i have chronic migraines, along with a dull headache at all times. juddd didn't make them worse.

be careful of rebound headaches. even ibuprofen will do that to you. my sister, a usually nonheadachey person, had a headache for a straight year. after hearing about rebound headaches with painkillers, she got off the pain killers, and the headaches disappeared shortly thereafter.

you might have already heard this one: too little water causes headaches. i wish that were the cause of mine. :hyst:

fatigue: make sure you're getting enough protein.

Finme 01-25-2013 10:31 AM

I get headaches when I am getting off caffeine, doing a cleanse (detox), or constipated. And yes as soon as I "go", the headache is alleviated.
