I am what is called a "drive by" poster. I post and run.
Sorry for the confusion and chaos here. I love Ree, but I only give the Pioneer Woman cookbooks as gifts at weddings of my friends.

And today... she posts the picture of herself in the dress with this post.

Quote:
Blurry, grainy cell phone shot of what I wore last night. Blurry, because the Spanx were making me lightheaded and I was shaky. Dressing up is complicated, man!

Which I have to laugh, because I have almost killed myself trying to slip into spanx before going to a special event. Seriously, I have felt that "dizzy, light-headed" feeling. Please give yourself time before trying on spanx.

And she looks stunning!!! I love when we can arrive at a special event and feel good about ourselves. Spanx has saved many a wedding, formal dinner, social event for me. I will never be without, even when I get to my goal.

I'm wearing this today, with brown tights (can't see them, I'm too short) and brown boots from Lane Bryant
the dress is on sale at igigi, bunch of sizes left. It's a sweater dress, and has POCKETS. I love it!

This thread has me jonesing for dresses! I think I may need to make a trip to Goodwill soon and see what they have. I don't really "need" any, but I'm thinking it's a good idea to have a dress in my closet for unexpected things where a dress would be preferable. Plus I just feel like feeling "girlie" again.

Good idea, LCG!! I might do that too.

Beautiful dress, Soren!! That is a gorgeous plus-sized model! She actually looks plus sized, whereas the other model in this thread didn't (to me).

LCG-- you and I are similar heights and weights (well, you're actually 20lbs SMALLER!!! )

the only thing I don't like about dresses is that I wish I were more comfy in heels. I have lots of nice flats I wear, and I do have pretty good Crocs wedges, or Geox kitten heels... but I can't rock the high heels that make dresses look great

Anyway-- if you like wearing a shirt and no pants, then dresses are for you!

p.s. LCG-- get a black wrap dress first. That's the gateway dress

seriously, you can wear a LBD anywhere-- work, dinner party, funeral, wedding... then branch out.

And wrap or faux-wrap dresses work for EVERY body type.

This thread is awesome! Just reread some posts I missed...

Re, what to wear instead of hose - nude seems to be acceptable nowadays, and I keep tanning spray for just that purpose. Not to look tan, just not like zombie legs!

Oh, my, you all must be way more hour-glass shaped than me! The dresses were very cute, but they seemed to largely emphasize the waist and ... I don't really have one. As an apple, I do wear dresses, but they have to be A-line or Princess/high-waisted-style or I look just awful ... I have a dress that I like from Marketplace (woman's sewing cooperative in India), but my breasts need to get smaller before can wear it without looking obscene ... well, maybe by summer ... My hips are size medium, my breasts are size large, and my tummy is size extra large, so I tend to wear tunics, big shirts, and loose sweaters to conceal the mismatch as best I can ...

Sven, your body is the opposite of mine...I have big hips and legs, smaller breasts( B cup) and a bit of a waist. I would love to have a little bit more of what you have, so I could wear shorsts, and not look obscene. Forme, even when I weighed in the 120s, wearing shorts always made me stand out a little-and not for the right reasons.

I want my figure to look just like Carly's does now when I've shrunk down.

One other embarrassing problem I have is unsightly varicose veins on my ankles, caused by excessive weight, I guess. Going "nude" or without hose is what I would prefer...any suggestions? I quit wearing capris to work for that reason as well.

You're right! That is exactly what I need. Except for awhile it will be a BBD!

Soren, I think we were about the same, but you had business travel and flu from H - E - double hockey sticks that I didn't have to contend with! Knocking on wood...

For varicose veins, go to search "Planetary Herbals Horse Chestnut". It is a cheap herbal cream that is wonderful in vanishing the purple streak.

Thanks, Sunday! Soren, I *wish* laser therapy was in the budget! Concealer might also be an option...I've seen the infomercials. Always wondered if it would look natural and how much "work" it would be.

I wear dresses and skirts constantly, far far more than trousers ever. I was just looking back on my life yesterday and realized I always have. Girly girl.
I think dresses and skirts are far more forgiving to figure expansion and contraction.
Always have to fit the thickest part of your shape (my bust) and find the shape that suits YOU. I mostly wear things that fit me empire (even if they weren't meant to be. serious busom issues here) and I layer when needful.
