That's a really cute dress Cindy

I'm wondering why I'm in the minority though, about wearing dresses, shorts, sleeveless tops (omg, I live in tank tops and flip flops all summer... and that includes going to the office LOL) ?
Just thinking aloud here-- I'm shorter and fatter than most of you, but it never occurred to me not to wear these things?

I don't go on long walks in dresses or skirts anymore-- made that mistake ages ago in Washington DC, and the upper thigh situation was BAAAAADDDDD.
Maybe now I'm just used to the amount of rubbing (it's less of a rub, and more that the hinge point of my walk is that upper thigh spot, so they just sort of pivot there )

anyway, my wish for you is that you feel comfortable in your skin, that you love yourselves and think you are wonderful people, because you ARE!!!

I JBs!

It really was a matter of the fit and proportions. I have a size 18P- Jones New York (I think) that was fairly flattering and was kind of stretchy so accomodated the girls without being huge on the flat butt. I still have a huge problem with dresses due to my build- the girls are just not inline with the rest of my body. They are much, much saggier, but when lifted up in a bra take up quite a lot of room, where as my butt is seriously lacking- I have a bad case of pancake butt.

Carly those A-line dresses would camoflauge the small butt (hey I would be proud of that!), and from customers I see that most of the dresses are made for larger busted people. Some of them have short sleeves for summer, too. I don't know how my arms will look after weight loss, but they were never that big (gained most of my weight below the waist).

kiyonna has a 25 off of 75 going on till 1/23. Enter GIFT25 at checkout.

I'm a sucker for 30% off, so I bought this dress

And eternally the optimist (and now, knowing that their sizes run true and not big), I bought the 1x anyway I figure, it's a wrap dress... should fit now, and better later.

I love to do Tracy Anderson on my JumpSport Rebounder. You can find a good example on Youtube, "Tracy Anderson's Thanksgiving" video.

Very cute, Soren! You guys have me all excited about clothes again! I can't wait to fit into really cute things. I think I could do a 1X in that dress too. Maybe I should get it so that I at least have one dress in my closet. We could have a JUDDD reunion and all show up in our "uniform"!

It looks pretty good, I have Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and it's still in the shrink wrap. I feel like I could learn the exercises that are done on the floor, but the ones where they're jumping and skipping around, I can't learn trying to watch it and do it at the same time lol.

Ya, though I'm sure photoshopped a bit...

Remember, Plus models are tall like regular models, and thinner than us, the way regular models are thinner than "average" women. I was going to be one in my early 20's, but I'm a bit too short-- unless I did the Petite plus, b/c I'm 5'5.5", and you have to be about 3" taller or more than your target audience, so I could model for folks in the 5' to 5'3" or something...

On the other site (igigi) they tell you the stats for the model-- which I think is great!
On the site for that dress above (kiyonna), they don't tell you about the model, but they often have "real curves" pics at the bottom of each page, to show you what the item looks like on real non-model women of different heights and sizes.

So a dress that looks awesome on someone 5'10" and wearing a 0x, will look very different on me, who's 5" shorter and 2 sizes bigger, ya know? I always take that into account when buying.

Soren-

I'm with you on wearing dresses. I can't stand wearing PANTS of any kind, especially jeans. They feel so claustrophobic and constricting. This thread really surprised me, actually, because I think dresses are the most cpmfortable thing out there (except for the draft in the winter).

I have a plus-size friend who always said to me that she felt that dresses were *more* slimming than pants. I never felt the same way though. I guess I just feel more comfortable in pants, even if they aren't more slimming (I feel like they are, lol). I do love dresses, though, and always enjoyed wearing them in the summer, especially.

Thanks for the dress links. I really had forgotten.

Those are some super cute ones! I still love my jeans, though. You girls are going to be beauty-ful in those!

That's probably because they look better on you (lucky duck!). Which doesn't mean those who don't wear those things feel badly about themselves or how they look...
I think it's more that different people carry their weight differently, and we all want to wear clothes we feel great in and emphasize our strong points. For example, I've seen many women my size who look great in sleeveless, but not me ... my upper arm measurement is 17" now, and when I started it was 19.75"! p.s. love that dress!

Not a big dress wearer and I look rediculous in skirts at my current weight...hopefully by summer I'll be able to pull off a sundress or skirt of some sort.

I figured everyone here could relate & may enjoy this quote...

I am friends w/ Ree Drumond (Pioneer Woman), whom you may not know, but she is my hero... She is kind of a big deal in my hometown & known for cooking (mostly stuff that I can only eat once per year) and makes me laugh every day. Anyway today on FB, she said:

Quote:
May I ask a fashion question? I'm going to something dressy in Oklahoma tonight. I'm wearing a dress for the first time in over six years. It's charcoal gray, a little sparkly, 3/4-length sleeves, and hits above the knee. It's slightly fitted but not tight at all.
Bare legs are not an option.
Neither are pantyhose.
So here's my question: Can a person wear opaque black tights and knee-high dressy boots with a dress like this? Can a person wear opaque ankle tights and high heeled shoes with a dress like this?
I've worn nothing but yoga pants and jeans for six years and am at a complete loss for what to do with my legs. And feet.
Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

I have to admit that some of the 3,000 plus comments from her fans are quite hilarious.

And her next post is,

This is very similar to the dress I'm wearing tonight, except mine is light charcoal and I have love handles and back fat. But other than that, very similar!
The dress...

Are you seriously personally friends with her? That is cool! When I make cinnamon rolls to give, sometimes I use her cinnamon roll recipe (veganized). Makes a lotta goodness and a lot of people happy!

FB friends. Ree is awesome and down to earth! Exactly like you have seen when watching her on tv or reading her blog.
We are just acquaintances, one of my fav students grew up with her and now works for her so we share fun stuff. Her cinnamon rolls are fantastic and many of her appetizers and breakfast foods are staples for my fam. I give her cookbooks as wedding gifts because they are the ones that I love the most!

Sunday, I first thought you meant you give Ree cook books. I guess she doesn't have lots of weddings, nor needs a cookbook.
