Pixie, I would think that would be a difficult environment.

Has anyone ever tried a 5-Star Dk Chocolate bar from Lake Champlain? It is the one dark chocolate that I would take with me to a deserted island. It has dark chocolate, natural hazelnut paste, pecans, raisins, and dried cherries. I get a box of these for Christmas from DH annually and I have split each bar into 4 pieces. 72 cals per piece

I have yet to find a store that has the delicious treats in my city, but they have them at the Central Mkt, in Ft. Worth, and Whole Foods, OKC.

I went to their website and it looks like they carry this brand at my local Whole Foods. I see a trip to WF in my near future.

I am just saying. I hate that this is a DD.

Oh, and Dawn, this same company has a Sea Salt & Caramel that I have been dying to try. Let me know if you find it at your WF!!! I even marked it on his pc, so that he might send it to me for VDay.

My horrible temptation candy is actually out right now - juju hearts for Valentine's Day. I just love those things for some reason. I bought one bag and have treated myself to four hearts each UD. My skinny DH loves chocolate, which isn't something I crave and that's a good thing since it's around all the time for him. He really likes the dark chocolate hazelnut bars from Aldi, and I have to admit, that is pretty good!

I can't wrap my head around Easter candy until Valentine's day has passed. And Valentine's Day equals chocolate!!

Polar bear paws with peanuts and caramel dunked in chocolate.

Right now I have been taking a dark chocolate bar, sweetening it with artificial sweetener, adding pistachios and topping with sea salt. It's sooo good!

I perused the candy isle at the grocery store tonight but did not buy any. I had Zero candy bar at lunch, though. Had to rein in the candy monster before it took over!!

I feel like a freak- but I could really care less about candy. Some really good chocolate I can take or leave. The Milky Way that LG showed looked kinda good, but I'm a salty person! It's DD here and I actually put pink himalayan chilli salt on my lettuce- don't leave cape cod chips, doritos, cheetos, etc... in my presence unattended if you wish to have some when you get back ask poor DW- she stepped away for a mere 20 minutes and...

I went through a GooGoo CLuster phase last year and was stilll losing weight eating one every UD. Now that I am close to my final final goal weight I cannot afford that many calories that often. BUT I can stand in the checkout line at the local tractor supply eye level with the GooGoo CLusters and not buy one.

I just follow Carolyn's recipe, (see link) but now I leave out the coconut oil. Makes it too "melty for me" and too many calories. I melt the chocolate in the micro, add sweetener, and add as many pistachio nuts as I want. I line a bread pan with press and seal wrap and pour the chocolate mixture in and sprinkle coarse sea salt on the top. I like a lot of salt on it. Then I chill it and break it apart. So good!! I use 24 drops of EZ-Sweetz from the 2 ounce bottle .

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...andy-nuts.html

I don't have a firm calorie count as it depends on what I put in each time I make it. Sometimes I use almonds, sometimes other stuff. I made this into bacon bark for a Christmas gift for a friend who loved it!!

Thank you!! That sounds so delicious! I have had a major craving for some odd reason for homemade marshmallows today, but looked at several recipes and decided I am not a candy chef. I still want to order some gourmet marshmellows, and I think I'll stick to buying candy too.

I tried to make some "bark" for my family for xmas, and it turned into a very expensive fudge. Still in my freezer as I couldn't bear to throw out 25.00 worth of ingredients, lol.

Twizzlers for sure, and those pastel Mini Cadbury eggs with the candy shells.

Oh. My. Goodness.

I also love anything with coconut and/or caramel.

Candy apples

Fairy floss (cotton candy)

Umm... do s'mores count? Love those too.

One thing I've never been crazy about is sugary candy with no "umph" to it, lol. Like twizzlers, or cotton candy, hard candy...basically anything that's sugar without the added calories of chocolate, caramel and nuts.

ETA: I would LOVE though to taste some real maple candy, straight from the trees in the winter. I think I read something about Laura in the "Little House in the Big Woods" eating maple candy that hardened in the snow. Always wanted to try it.

I have maple sugar cotton candy, which is homemade from our local maple syrup dealers. Hahaha, maple syrup is seriously like a drug to me, it's so yummy and addicting!

You absolutely can! They have all kinds of goodies, including maple sugar candy (like hard candy) and the chewy maple sugar candy (kindof grainy in texture, that melts in your mouth!)

And, no, just plain American. Currently a New Yorker. My husband is half-Irish, though, does that count?

Laura's grandma gives Laura and her cousins plates of snow and then pours maple syrup over it' it hardens and the kids eat it up!. Little House in the big Woods. We had all the Laura Ingalls Wilder Books when I was growing up. My favorites were On the Banks of Plum Creek and Little Town on the Prairie. Thanks for bringing back special memories LG.
On a parallel note, when I read The Magician's Nephew (Narnia) to my son when he was just 6 or 7, he was so focused on the 'Turkish Delight' that the white Witch gave to Edmund. He talked about it for years, he wanted to try it. We bought some at a Greek restaurant when he was about 9. Little did I know, they sell it at Walmart, needless to say, it wasn't very good :/

Have to come out of lurkdom for candy!

I love cadbury eggs...I can't believe I still have some left over from last easter. In the past, those would have been gone in 2 days.

I've been trying to limit myself to dark chocolates and have found some really delicious ones. Sweet Riot (I believe) has a coconut and dark chocolate that is great. I love this cherry almond one too. My favorite is the Chocolove sea salt and almond... Seriously delicious. I try to limit myself to one serving a day...if I go over, the calories and sugar add up too quickly.

Snickers & Heath Toffee have been my favorite big name candy for decades.

My family & friends usually give me gifts of chocolate covered toffee covered in almonds (like Almond Roca), but this past Christmas I was given a box of the most amazingly delicious pecan toffee that I've ever tasted in my life, from "elan candies by Maralyn".

Hi DD, the Sweet Riot and Chocolove sound awesome...do you buy them in a store or order them online?
