DD question

Yesterday was my 2nd DD, and I am eating 371 calories on my DDs. When I went to bed last night, I had an extremely hard time falling asleep. I felt completely depleted. The discomfort of this kept me awake for several hours. I don't remember a time in my life ever feeling this hungry. When I woke up today, I was OK, but kind of queezy. I wanted to wait until after 10 am to eat anything to get in a whole 36 hours of DDing. I became extremely freezing cold. It was a cold that I don't think i've ever experienced, it was like weak and cold together and it was actually ice cold. Like as if i had a fever, yet my body actually was ice cold to the touch. Is any of this normal??

I'm relatively new to JUDDDing but yes I believe it can be as your body adjusts. Being cold and sleepless can be side-effects unfortunately. I had a good DD yesterday and had quite a bit of trouble falling asleep. I'm thinking the worst of it either passes or we get used to it.

I did hcg to lose weight and being very low calorie did with that did make me cold and I can easily have sleep issues there as well. At least on JUDDD you rev up the engine on UD!

Sleep:
A lot of people eat a small snack before they lay down so their tummy will have something to do. Or you can try adding 50 to 100 calories to your DDs for now, then you can gradually pull them back down as your body adjusts (it will adjust).

Cold:
We call it DD Shivers. Other intermittent fasting/low calorie WOEs have similar descriptive terms. Sadly, it is proof DDs are having the effect you want them to have. I don't know if this will help, but most people develop coping mechanisms or get used to it. And since I hit maintenance, even though I still do one or two really low DDs each week (love my NSVs), DD shivers have not happened very often at all.

Congratulations! You have all the signs that DDs are kicking in for you!

I did not "lose" weight. I evicted it. It is gone and it ain't coming back!

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Yes- well this means you had a successful DD. I fast on most DDs till a bed time snack at about 9:30pm of around 200 calories. I need a little something in my stomach. I've alwaty been sleepless so this is not new for me, but the shivering... I hate it. I find my electric blankets are life savers. I also find that a super hot bath or shower will help! If I'm at work and shivering I'll try hot broth or hot tea.

Yep, my electric blanket & hot booties are my new BFFs! Double layered fuzzy socks...I've been known to run my hands under hot water, too. (frozen fingers!)

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Lots & lots of hot drinks!

All of this is completely normal for DD Tex. We all experience in greater to lesser degrees. I am actually looking forward to the HOT weather this summer in S.C. lol. The sleeplessness, or trouble falling asleep is normal too, because of the empty stomach. Try having some cucumbers or salad a hour or so before bed and see if that helps.

Yesterday was my first DD in 8 mos. Freezing cold all day. I take a hot bath, a benadryl and crash. Works for me and the bath distracts me enough to not eat.

of course, today is my first UD and I'm NOT HUNGRY!!

I haven't had the sleep problems (knock on wood) but the DD shivers......brrrrrrrrr.......they can be a challenge. I do what everyone else says, lots of hot coffee, tea, broth, and wrap your hands around the nice, warm mug. I have one of those bean bag/heating pad thingies that you heat up in the microwave and I'll put in on my lap or behind my back as I work.

Picture this!
My DD attire,
Undershirt tucked in, long sleeved shirt, hoody with hood up always, then the last layer is my wind breaker. Tata.
I sport this outfit on parts of UD since I has a silly head cold for over 3 ish weeks. Yikes!
Love my hoodies.
When I've had way to much tea and coffee, I drink plain hot water. But I've done that for years. Nothing to do with diet, just thirsty I guess.

Oh yes veryy normal, and happens to most of us!
For the DD shivers --> electric blanket, flannel sheets, tea/coffee/soups, steamy showers, a nice easy walk
As for restless nights, I also cannot go to bed on an empty stomach ..so I save around 100 calories for right before bed ..usually some almonds or a piece of cheese.

I have problems falling asleep every night, I can't say that DD messes with my sleep. The empty tummy thing is actually reinforcing for me--I lay there and listen to my tummy rumble and think about the fact that it's what I'm NOT eating that means I can reach my goals. I guess it's all in how you frame it.

DD shivers are so hard during winter. Ditto on warm water. Drinking it for years, too. Layers are the way to go.
