Bulletproof coffee anyone?
Ok my fellow JUDDDers,
I have been reading about bulletproof coffee (coffee with coconut oil mixed in with a stick blender or similar) helping to keep you feeling full for quite awhile. I have been really struggling with my DD hunger, and I am willing to try just about anything at this point. Anyone try these with success??? |
I thought it had butter whipped in it too. But I don't like grease in my morning coffee other than HWC so I tried it only once and dumped it out. Others have loved it so it is a very individual thing.
|
I also, have read that it can have butter whipped in it, but I have also read where it is jsut the CO. I don't think I could stomach the butter either, personally.
|
Look back through old threads. I think we have a lot of people dedicated to Bulletproof coffee here.

Personally I could not stomach it, but this is a big thread about it! |

I actually just got some in the mail yesterday from Netrition. I took one this morning for the first time. I am anxious to see the results...
|
I haven't tried the BPC (sounds just too weird to me), but I will say that I did an experiment with not counting CO, as some people have great results and don't need to count the calories from CO. It was a miserable failure for me. I stalled completely until I started counting the calories again. Others have seen similar results. So, if you're going to use CO regularly, just watch how it reacts with the scale. Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky people who get a great benefit from it.

I love BP coffee, and go in phases with it. For weeks it'll be the perfect morning food, then I want something different. I count the numbers. :)
|
Tried it once and liked it ok, but prefer HWC. Once you get a few more weeks into JUDDD you will have more appetite suppression and won't feel the need to search for ways to combat it as much. I know because I've been there, done that. :) Hope the ptero works for you!

I have tried it, and I want to say I did use the butter (sorry, it's been awile). I actually did enjoy the taste (it's hard to describe, but once the butters truly blended it, it doesn't seem greasy at all -- it just gives it a richness, a la a latte or similar). Actually, i think I used some butter, coconut oil and half and half, as well as some Davinci vanilla bean. It was great, but proved too labor-intensive for my super-hectic mornings. So, for that reason, never made it again. :(
|
I tried it when I did a fat fast day, and I blended well, and it tasted like a salted butternut to me with my sweetner. BUT it didn't do anything for me as far as staving off hunger. Nothing does that for me but some protein. One egg will do it. And less calories!

But many people love it. Just not my thing I guess. I much prefer plain HWC. |
I am now hooked on this.
If you can't take the full butter experience try frothing some coconut oil in with your warm milk. It's really delicious. It gives the milk a bit more body so you get more creamy froth and the hint of coconut. With chocolate power sprinkles this is one of the nicest things you can drink. I don't think milk is an issue with a lot of us and it's been shown to help weight loss. |
I drank it for about 2 weeks and didn't count the calories. I used 1T of CO and 1T butter in a big mug of coffee. I also didn't consume ANYTHING else for at least 4 hours afterwards, and lost great during that time. It definitely did keep me full and helped with appetite.
Then one day I couldn't stomach it. At all. Made me gag. So I went back to HWC and have been happy ever since. I have a large amount of CO around, and have been using it as a skin moisturizer and on the ends of my hair. I haven't used it on my face yet, but I do use it on my neck and I think it's helping to keep the weight loss wrinklies under my chin under control. If it works for you and you like it, go for it! |
I put a teaspoon of CO in my coffee at least once a day, never thought to wizz it in, I just sip the oil slick off the top. I wasn't counting it with Atkins but will count it with JUDDD.
|
I tried it with both butter and CO and didn't care for either. I didn't really notice a taste difference with the oil but it gave me a queasy feeling. The butter I threw out. I thought it was awful!
|
It is crucial to froth it. That way you just get more creamy coffee, not a slick.
I use an espresso machine with its frother. The combination of very strong coffee with the frothed oils and sometimes milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon is lovely. |
