My first trip to Teavana they talked me into spending $50 for a glass pitcher/infuser thing....After a few times with it, I believe it was well worth the purchase! While you're there, see if they have a sample of cacao mint black if you haven't already had it.....it's wonderful!

If I remember correctly from my reading on their site, the cocomint is coconut and mint without any chocolate. Probably not the same as cacao mint.

Ok, i just put my infuser into a mug with hot tap water (which i realize is weird given that I use filtered water in my kettle...) and i cover it so it doesn't get dusty, and i let it sit on the counter overnight.
Sometimes in the fridge.
I nuke 2min the next day (having taken the tea out) and its a bit weaker than the 1st brew but not by much. And no bitterness yet.

Right, more like a minty creaminess, not chocolaty really.

If you have Bed, Bath and Beyond they have 6-7 styles of tea balls and pretty cheap I got 2 that were each less than $3.

Awesome! Thank you. I might be able to stop on my way home today from running errands!
I am sooo glad I have some tea in the house now, thanks you to guys! I got home from work today and wanted to have lunch but nothing looked good but I was starving. I had some tea then made some canned soup. I didn't even finish the soup because I guess the tea filled me up!!

I've had some Celestial Seasoning India spice chai tea K-cups for a while but hadn't tried them out yet. I had one on Friday and another yesterday and I have to say, they are really good. Very cinnamon-y and exotic. It was better with a drop of EZ-Sweetz. I don't usually sweeten my tea, but it brought out the flavor even more.

I always put a drop or 2 of ez-sweetz in my teas and think it really does bring out the flavor.

I totally agree.

a few years ago, I would only drink green tea at Asian restaurants (like, in the moment), but never liked it at home.
I thought you had to drink it unsweetened.

Now I add either 2 drops of liquid splenda, or 1 packet + 1 packet of Truvia, to almost everything hot. I find it really changes the tea, and brings out the flavors (and not just sweetens, if you see what I mean?)

I was thinking about the question about 2nd brewing the tea-- I was on my tablet and typing was a bit harder last night.

I treat it like "cold brewing" which you can google, but basically, if you put cold water over any real tea (I don't think it works as well with herbal), but black, green, white, oolong... And let the cold water and the tea sit in the fridge, with a shake now and then, for 24-48hrs, you will have perfectly brewed iced tea.

Normally, letting tea sit with boiling water that long would over-brew it and pull out yucky flavors like tannins and bitterness, but cold water doesn't do that. Just the nice flavors and you're good to go.

That said, I sort of do that with my 2nd brew-- I use hot tap, or even the mostly cooled leftover water from the kettle if there is any, and then let it sit.

I'm not finding a lot of tannins coming out... the tea might be a bit weaker than it was the first time, but surprisingly, not much.

That said, I'm drinking grapefruit crystal light this morning

My mother would make iced tea through putting some tea bags in a covered mason jar and leaving it out in the sun on the porch of the house; she called it sun tea. My sister and I did that, leaving the jar on the steps to our apartment, when we lived together in Philadelphia, and somebody stole the jar of tea. After that, I just made iced tea through letting the tea sit in cold water in a jar inside, overnight, and it always comes out well.

I can't wait until it's iced tea season where I live. Today it's in the 20s, and I'm drinking hot cookie dough tea with half and half.

I just made a cup of coco chai rooibos that I received as a sample from Davids. I can say that I have a new favorite. Now I will need to make another order and get some of it for real. Guess I have a new vice to replace diet coke.

Hardly a vice Adi! No caffeine, natural ingredients, you choose your sweetener, and if you want dairy in it....
I might try ceylon star tomorrow...

I like that one, too, Adi. I put cream/half-and-half in it, but then I do that with every kind of tea except green tea.

My new favorite is creme caramel rooibos. My least favorite so far is cherry cola tea, which I consider undrinkable unless you like cough syrup.

I usually drink Indian tea (neither sugar nor milk. I'm very fond of jasmine tea but could scarcely tolerate green tea until I read (possibly on Chocolate & Zucchini's blog) that some people put a few drops of rose water in and this cuts the bitterness and aftertaste.

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I'll have to see if I can find rose water at the Asian grocery store near me. I'll bet it smells really good, too.

Glad I made sense to someone I wasn't sure I explained myself well

I missed my "caffeine window" this morning, so I'm just rocking the lemon water all day today... I'm sure I'll get cold later, might go for some Sleigh Ride (caffeine free) to warm up

Want to know the funny thing I got in bulk from amazon? Crystal Light makes a breakfast blend... orange flavor or pink grapefruit, different texture from their regular drink mixes. Anyway, they don't sell them in canada, and I had that ah-ha! moment, and bought them from the internet... and now I have "juice" for the REST OF MY LIFE b/c omg, I have 1000000 pouches of orange and grapefruit flavor!

That stuff is good, Soren. I used to drink it all the time and I guess I just forgot about it. I'll have to pick some up at the store next time. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers with OJ! And get to drinking. We'll count down pouches with you....999,999...999,998...

That just goes to show how individual taste is. I tried coco chai rooibos and it just doesn't taste like anything to me, even when I double the amount and steep extra long. I wonder if it's one of those things like cilantro, where people clearly taste something different ... some people love it and others describe it tasting something like soapy dishwater. (not that coco chai rooibos is soapy dishwater!) I was sad because theoretically every ingredient is something I like so it should have been great for me, but I can't taste it! I wish I could give you my 50g bag.

Yes, taste varies along with the sense of smell in people. I cannot detect the vanilla scent and can barely smell lavender. I am sure that has something to do with how we taste. And I too wish the tea fairy could make the coco chai rooibos appear on my counter and I could pass the banana dream pie on to someone that would appreciate it cause I can't taste anything.

I ended up not getting a new tea ball since mine broke. Instead I got a package of 4 reusable K-cup filters. I put the Red Velvelt cupcake tea in it and it came out great in the Keurig. I would never have thought it could make good tea!

One word: T-Sac.

They come in several different sizes, are unbleached and biodegradable hemp paper...and the whole thing (t-sac with tea inside) can then be composted.

I use my tea ball at home, but the T-sacs at work or on the go. I'm getting in the habit of getting hot water at Dunkin' Donuts when DW goes in the get coffee with loads of cream. That may be why DW can't seem to reach onerland and I'm at goal... I think juddd just isn't for her. Last night she said on Monday no more bread and no more sweets- we'll see. I just want her to be healthy
