Ok, seriously-- no talk of ice cream or pie here, unless they are tea flavors

MY TEA IS HERE AND I'M GOING TO BURST FROM EXCITEDMENT

I"ve rearranged my tins, I've labled, I re-org'd the tea drawer, found space for the 20+ samples I seem to have (???), and I opened and smelled everything!

I will have to be careful with the red velvet, b/c it's like 99.9% black tea!

exotica smells OMG so great! fruity and also rich and deep

honeybush lemon ginger-- smells just like that. You really get the honey, the ginger just smells earthy for now. I really think this will be great cold, but will try hot also.

The winner of the new ones, on smell alone, is Bamboozled. Smells like SUMMER!!! fruity and sort of green.
I have tasted it cold, and it's peachy and light (not like say, snapple peach iced tea). It has pineapple also, so the peach is rounded out. I don't know why they used bamboo leaves, but hey, no caffeine right up my alley.

But, the winner winner tea for dinner of all iced fruity teas is Tropicalia. It's very yellow and tastes like a pina colada, if you could juice it. I brought it back up out of cold storage, and the sniff I took just put a ZING in my step.

Seriously-- it's a DD, and I'm full of optimism and happiness. THAT's how good it is!

Soren's tea review, over and out.

I wish it were warm enough where I am to make iced tea from some of those teas praised by Soren. Well, eventually summer will come and so will come iced tea ... sounds like some great flavors. Thanks, Soren.

Yes- too cold to think of iced tea right now. I just steeped MYSELF in a really hot bath to get my core temp. up. It's UD, but I had the shivers something awful

every k-cup I have run across lol
It's fast -under a minute. The flavor is just like steeped tea.
Tazo zen, any chai flavors and a few camomiles like sleepy time have all been really good
Oh and english breakfast (bigelow)decaf and regular.
I've been impressed. I didn't think that the quick brew would give that full bodied tea flavor, but it does.

Cool! I wouldn't think so either, but I guess those engineers have a clue

I tried Exotica, hot, with sweetener. Hmmm...I think it will be better cold. Main notes of lemongrass, the coconut sort of mellows it out but not overly "coconutty", and the chai spices were nice...so like a lemony chai. Not "hot" spicy like some.
Will try iced with my 2nd brew.

Okay, so I made the Bigelow Vanilla Caramel, added the coconut creamer, sweetener, and a couple shots of SF Salted Caramel syrup. Not bad.

I tried the honeybush lemon ginger, hot.
Very nice! Definitely tasted like all it said it would. Mild on the lemon, good honey flavour (I like to use 1 Splenda and 1 truvia) and I think the ginger helped settle my tummy bc I wasn't feeling great after dinner.

I think this is from dt's last chance list, but I like it. It'll be just a good cold, too.

Tomorrow, I try red velvet cake, hot. Stay tuned!

Me too. I've made it once and thought it was "okay". I want to give it another chance though.

I got a sample of Read My Lips, and I liked the mintiness of it.

Ok, just finished my mug o velvet

I find it tastes how it smells-- very caramel-y, to me.

First I tried it without any sweetener, just to get a level. Blah.

I added 1 packet of Splenda-- better.
then I added my 1 packet of Truvia-- ah, there we go! I guess I like my tea really sweet

So, like red velvet cake, I'm not getting a lot of "chocolate" flavor, but I like the sort of toasted caramel flavor this tea has.

my only issue is the caffeine, but I guess I knew that going in. We really need a <jitters> or <excited> kind of vibrating emoticon here!

It does taste different from say toasted marshmellow, one of my few other black teas, so that's good too.

However, I'm now typing at lightspeed, and might actually have my fingers and keyboard burst into flames at any moment!
So I'll have to restrict the use of this tea to just once in a while-- at least my 50g bag will last a loooooooooooooong time!

Off to try to put this energy to creative use, like running up and down the stairs to do laundry or, heaven forbid, actually get some work-work done!

S.

p.s. cross posted with LCG-- yes, I forgot, that's my other, other black tea. It's nice eh?

Without cream or half and half added, I'm meh about red velvet tea. With them added, I'm in love.

Soren, your posts when you're revved up on black tea are such a hoot. Reading them will no doubt be the most fun I'll have at work today.

Here's a plug for another David's Tea: Love Tea Number 7. Black Tea, chocolate, and rose petals. Smells great, tastes yummy (with cream or half and half added, in my case).

I'm afraid that we won't be letting Soren have a cup of it today, however. I'm afraid she'd burst like a super-nova with excess energy, after 2 kinds of black tea.

thank you Svenska, for looking out for me! That's true JB

I will have to try the red velvet again tomorrow...um, maybe not tomorrow... maybe sunday with a splash of 1/2 n 1/2 and re-evaluate. Thanks for the tip!

rose petals! how exotic and sort of middle eastern (like rose water in baklava and other treats... oy... down day... let's not talk about food, k?)

alright, back to the grind... I think I managed 3 quizzes graded so far today (and 3 loads of laundry washed but not yet folded...)

Got my Davids teas today and tried the Birthday Cake. It was nice. Much nicer than the grocery store teas but I was not wowed. Then I went about my regular day. I only had coffee for breakfast and since I wasn't hungry I thought I would wait until I was. It is now 5pm and I just realized I have had nothing all afternooon except my Birthday Cake hot tea. Maybe that is why everyone is loving them. Sure killed my appetite. Now I would like to try a different flavor for dinner and if I am still not hungry I will have had a liquid only less than 100 calorie DD. AND I am not wanting to eat anything either.

That sound like my day. One mug of tea and most of a mug of coffee with 40 calories worth of creamer- net 30 calories since the coffee got cold before I could finish it.

I will, however, have a bedtime snack for sure, unless there is some unseen force of nature crossing my path before 10pm...

I'm trying another one of Zhena's Gypsy Tea from the grocery store. I had the green tea coconut chai last time and it was good so I bought the black tea coconut chai. I will try it tomorrow on my DD (well projected DD i never can tell with my weekends LOL) and I will try the Caramel and Chocolate Chai's next time. These seem to be decent quality for a grocery store tea so I will try a few more until I can afford a big fat shopping cart full of David's

Okay, I placed my order:

Amaretto
Hot Lips
Chocolate Chili Chai
Chicory Dickory Doc
The Winter Tea Collection (Cookie Dough, Banana Dream Pie, Alpine Punch, Cocomint Cream, and I didn't realize it also has Chocolate Chili Chai--so one for home and one for work--hope I like it!)

Kismet, I've wanted to try the Gypsy caramelfor a long time now, as well as some of their other flavors. I know the coconut is great.

Too bad we aren't all neighbors....then we could order every tea, split the costs, get to taste a zillion different ones, and see what we like best!

I really like the chocolate chili chai tea, Dawn, and I hope you like it, too. I've also ordered (and used up) the Winter Tea collection. Cookie Dough became one of my favorites, and Cocomint Cream is really good with So Delicious Brand coconut creamer added to it. Let us know what you think of the various teas. Amaretto sounds good; maybe that will go into my next order.

sounds amazing!

I love chicory dickory, can't wait to hear your opinion (I like it black, but I can envision it with some sort of creamer).

I loooooove cocomint creme. again, I don't add anything but sweetener, so interesting that Svenska adds creamer to it... again, love hearing different things to try!

IMO, chocolate chili chai is good, but not spicy enough for me! So, I added about 1 good tsp of chili flakes to my cannister of it... certainly is spicy now!

Adi-- interesting about the appetite suppression of the caffeine, and I guess the flavors add to mental satisfaction-- how great you and Carly can go a whole day on just tea (and/or coffee... we don't hold that against you )

I'm having my 2nd brew of the red velvet today (let it sit for 2 days I guess) and it's just as good as the first one, imo. So, I now know it will take me 12000 yrs to get through any of my black tea, at this rate.

Ooh! me too! I want to get as much as I can out of the cacao mint I got from Tevana--it's like GOLD to me! I'm going to order that cocomint that David's Tea has to see if it's similar.

I got some loose tea from the health food store from their serve yourself bins. It was a red rooibos and was really good. When I put some coconut creamer in it it turned pink LOL After that cup my tea ball broke! It was really old though so I definitely want to get a new one. I was thinking of stopping by Tevana next time I'm at the mall.
