I would like to thank everyone for their sweet comments. I did not realize a year ago how much I would enjoy the weight loss journey. In the past, I lost weight with low carb low fat but after a few months hated it because I could not have so many things and I really didn't eat them often. I just wanted it because I could not have it on my LCLF diet. I was LC for many years until I just went way off track at the same time I had foot surgery and the result was 40 extra pounds.

I am the tortoise but I have won my own race. Slow, slower and slowest sometimes.
And I am so glad I have been a role model for those that are also super slow losers. It will happen when the old bod is ready. I remember one month that I did not lose an oz and I had not changed a thing. Then along came the slow but steady weight loss again. And in the process of trying other things with JUDDD I learned after all of these years where my fluid retention was coming from. Not carbs or salt but high fat when I dipped into nutritional ketosis for a bit. Swelled up like road kill again. Lowered the fat and no more puffy feet and ankles and legs. That was worth the NK experiment in itself.

So thanks again and 2013 will be a GREAT year and I might just reach my ultimate goal of 135 which is still 5 pounds more than I weighed before DS arrived 23 years ago. Really would love to see 139 just for kicks but we shall see.

Congratulations!

Your post is very inspiring. Do you have any suggestions for those of us that are just getting started? What kept you going initially, when you weren't seeing results on the scale?

I wrote my weight on my calendar every morning. THis is an example of my first little bit:
180 1/8/2012
179.6
179.0
179.0
176.6
177.6
176.8
178.4
178.6
180.4
179.4
179.6
176.6
176.8
175.6
178.4
177.6
177.2
176.4
and so on. I ended January at 174 and that was my best month for weightloss. In June I started the month at 155.2 and I ended the month at 155.2 for a grand total of 0 pounds lost. I even bounced up to 160 for a high in June.
If I had based the diet on my first two weeks I would have quit. I even bounced up higher than when I had started. But I kept plugging away and it started going down.

Wow I am very impressed and happy for you!

I can relate to a lot of your story. I have also been LCing for years, on and off, I want to lose at least 60 or so more, when I get to ONEderland I will go from there. Interesting about the high fat. I would say I do medium fat and don't seem to have a problem.

on a job well done! You are a real JUDDD role model!

Thanks for the great information about your early days and the lack of reinforcement on the scale. I just finished my first week and ended up right where I started, despite some dips over the 7 days. Your post was just what I needed to keep on going.

I am glad I could help. I have posted a lot of times that the key to JUDDD is patience. And I know how hard it is to watch the scale and nothing seems to be happening but it is. Just rather slowly compared to some other plans.
And I seem to be in WLM again as I saw 153.8 this morning and I have had a great UD today so I am hoping to see another drop after my next DD.

I LOVE JUDDD!!!

Adi, your story is very inspiring to me as well. As a slow loser, it's easy to look at others and compare, with frustration. It's always nice to see someone who's been successful who also lost slowly.

Here's to the tortises!!

From one proud turtle to another!

This plan (lifestyle) has made being a turtle quite delightful.....no pain involved really. Right?

Hey...we are Texas Turtles....isn't there a candy called that?.....pretty much like Texas Millionares....chocolate, pecans, caramel...mmmmmmm (can you tell it's dinnertime on an UD!!!)

Yes and I love Turtles ( the candy) although I like regular turtles too since I am one as far as weightloss is concerned.

Thank you Adi and congrats on your anniversary.

I'm definitely a turtle too and we turtles need to stick together. I agree with the other posters, I look for your post as we are so close in age, height and my Mom was from Texas!!!

Hope you don't mind, I put a quote from your post in my siggy. It's so important to me! (if you don't want, let me know)

This is not a quick weight loss system for many but it is steady and it does work and it is enjoyable since nothing is restricted as long as the calorie count works.
This is one thing I am trying to keep in the fore front of my mind every day. The day will come when a DD is particularly challenging and I decide I'm tired of being hungry every other day, it isn't working, or (insert any other reason) and I'll want to give up. I have to look at it like there IS no other choice. JUDDD is the best "diet" and it will work - eventually.
