Back in the saddle again. . .
. . . And I guess that's the most positive thing.
December was pretty much a bust. My rotations were steady with one MD per week through the 18th (all my holiday eating events were happening on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, so I just went for stability). By this time I was officially down 1.5 lbs and had seen a lb or so lower earlier in the week. Then on the 19th I was hit with the flu and didn't eat much for three or four days. By the time I was eating normal calories again, it was Christmas week, I was still feeling crappy, and rotations went out the window. The worst part about it was I was doing some serious carbcentric emotional overeating during that week (first Christmas after losing my brother last year, other family issues, illness, too much solitude, blergh. . . ). I mean, embarrassingly bad, like food hangovers and upset stomach. And it didn't start tapering off until after New Year's. In fact, I just had my closest to "normal" UD two days ago, and my first official DD yesterday. Here's the upshot: Last weigh-in on December 18 was 220.2. First weigh-in for 2013, after all that food chaos and one DD, was 221.2. After all that food chaos, this pretty much puts me at a maintain for December. But it's hard to get too upset about it. It could have been MUCH worse (and December usually is)!

Sounds like a pretty good result and a good jumping off place for even better results in 2013. You got this!

I would say that 1 lb is success! I love that JUDDD has allowed us this one thing, when we look back and track our UUAD, we really have not done much damage compared to past experience.
Love your signature quote as well! |

Juddd is just amazing! I saw 134 twice in mid-december but eventually settled at 137.7 for the maintenance break that I took and entered at that weight on 1/1/13. 2 DDs later (and 2 UDs of course, too) I'm at a new low!!!!!!
It still blows my mind!!!! |

Marla, I'm sorry for the turmoil and illness that you went through. Hopefully you've come out on the other side of all that. Good for you for getting back into rotations, and to know that you didn't do anywhere near the damage you thought you did is wonderful! You've got this, and there's a hopeful future ahead of you!

Marla, after an exceptionally tough December it is so good to see you right back on track and looking forward to a year of great losses.
Only 1 lb up through the holiday season is a triumph. |

Kissa and Carly and Dawn all have new pics! You all look so pretty.
Thank you, all of you, for the positive remarks. Honestly, even though I'm a little disappointed I didn't manage a bit better, I really agree with you. In comparison to other holiday experiences, my December outcome was really amazing. I'm really ready to get back into this and try to make some headway on the next 10 lbs. AND I'm sort of hoping my UD overeating will start to settle down. My stomach is tired of it, and I keep thinking my brain will get tired of it. I need to find that Off switch for the autopilot. . . |

Marla! You did amazingly well over such a stressful, party-hearty time. Get the DDs under control first. Concentrate there. And keep telling yourself UDs will follow. Don't be upset if they don't at first...eventually your body will start to believe what your mind is telling it. |

I am in awe of you! I am just getting through a nasty stomach flu round myself so I completely understand. I'm not sure how I'd do if I had Christmas parties, etc, starting up right now just when my stomach is getting ready to eat again.
You did MARVELOUS! Add in that you're ready to start back on rotations and I bet the 10# will come off quite fast now. Congrats to you! Getting started again is always the hardest part and WANTING to after doing no weight damage is awesome! |
