148.2 Monday 1-7 DD
145.8 Tuesday 1-8 UD
145.4 Wednesday 1-9 DD
143.8 Thursday 1-10 UD
143.8 Friday 1-11 DD
142.6 Saturday 1-12 UD
So I guess the scale made up my mind as to whether continue the lowfat potato day and count calories or not.. I am out of lowfat sour cream but I will figure out something. Doing the modified potato fast eliminated my usual 2 pound bounce so that was interesting.
Continued from above

142.2 Sunday 1-13 DD DOWN again and after an UD.
Modified potato menu from yesterday
B - 2 eggs fried in coconut oil, coffee with HWC
L - 6 oz potato baked with fullfat yogurt (all I had) and 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce. 10 pecan halves
D - 6 oz boiled potato cut into chunks with 1/2 cup pinto beans and 4 oz homemade chil and 4 oz salsa
and since I was starving after lunch I had 2 cups of yogurt with a small apple cut up in it
before bed I had an International coffee for 25 calories

I am starving this morning and it is a DD so I am sipping coffee with HWC while my egg cooks. The scale is keeping me motivated since I was hungry all day yesterday and so far today it is the same. I am telling myself it is because I am losing fat. Let's hope I am not lieing to myself.

Adi, I want what you're having! Your food choices sure sound a lot yummier than just potatoes. I desire the weight loss, but not the hunger.

I have no idea what is working. And it may be lower fat but not necessarily no fat since eggs and yogurt have fat.

The coffee with HWC and the one egg has satisfied my morning hunger and I took a Pterostilbene so we shall see how the rest of the day goes. It will be broth and potaoes with gluc for my yummy (to me anyway) faux cream of potato soup for L and D. I ALWAYS stick to my DD calories but with potatoes I have raised them to 400 -500 which is still working for weightloss.

Maybe simply the increase in calories?

I'm assuming it would work with sweet potatoes, since body builders who diet to lean out for a competition, pretty much live on yams, egg whites & chicken breast.

But that sure doesn't sound all that enticing to me, especially when I'm just concerned with losing my last 10 - 15 vanity pounds.

Actually the UD calories are probably the same or lower than usual but the DD calories are a couple of hundred higher so who knows.

Thanks Adi for sharing your experience with this! It's an interesting experiment that's for sure. Maybe I'll consider trying it myself come this summer, if I haven't reached my goal to be swim suit ready by then.

I'm going to try it today. My stomach feels completely empty, to the point of hurting a little bit. I know I ate all my calories yesterday, but I did have some alcohol last night...could be electrolytes...anyway, going to aim for 700 calories PD. We'll see if I can do it.

Two things I might want to add. What is your opinion of adding onion? Also plan to add lemon juice because I love lemony potatoes.

I plan to try this for a few days this week--I'm thinking 3 right now. Tomorrow, I want to keep to dd cals, so will not have anything but black decaf coffee for breakfast. Lunch will be cooled boiled potatoes with malt vinegar and salt. Broth in the afternoon if I need it, maybe with a bit of potato chunked up in in. And then a bake of chunks of white and sweet potato for supper (or maybe the broth and tater bake).

Tues I will try to get closer to UD cals, and will start the day with my usual protein smoothie, with the first potatoes at least 4 hours later. I may add some lean protein with supper taters.

Wed a repeat of Mon.

I am doing it mainly to get hunger/snacking and sugar/carb cravings under control, but won't be sad if I lose some weight too. Been in the upper end of my bounce range, and even a pound over, so need to get back to the low side. I can see some muffin top again, and want it gone.

Oh, will keep an eye on blood sugar too.

Here's my experience so far. Woke up sick yesterday, and considered bailing on the potatoes, but didn't.

So weight yesterday was 127. Skipped breakfast, just black decaf coffee and some herbal tea mid morning. Had some boiled cold red potatoes for lunch with malt vinegar, salt, and mustard for dipping. Totally unappetizing, but I forced them down anyway. For supper, I roasted a few russets and 1 sweet potato (tossed them in a bag with 1 tbsp olive oil first, then sprinkled with sea salt). These were delicious. Also had about a cup of stir fry veggies.

Weight this morning 125. (which is actually what I typically see after a good dd, so nothing magical).

Today, I had a smoothie for breakfast (almond milk, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and sun warrior blend protein powder). Then 5 hours later, had some boiled and cold russets chunked up in 2 cups of chicken broth.

Yesterday after both lunch and supper, saw some really high sugar spikes (over 200). Took about 3 hours for them to come to normal. Just took a 1 hr after lunch reading and it was 154. I'll check again in an hour. But if I continue to see those high readings, I may be inclined to bail. I'm trying to give it a few days to see if my body adjusts as others have done, but those are some high numbers.

Anyway, feel lousy with this cold/flu thing, but I am managing to get hold of my insane cravings and hunger. So that is def good.

Stopping this early. I feel too awful to face a plateful of potatoes tonight. Making breakfast food because it's easy--biscuits and sausage gravy and eggs for those who can/do eat them. My 14 yo dd said she'd help. Living in the country with absolutely no options for food delivery is really not fair when I'm sick. Dh is sick too, or I'd make him cook.

I'm going to try it! Ought to be interesting because I'm going to do it mid HCG round. I'm going to start on Sunday- what would have been VLCD #19 (round 7).

My reason for doing it now is because as I near the end of a round I start sleeping badly, feel really fatigued and get dizzy quite easily. I've joined a gym and I do not want to stop my workouts. I'm hoping that changing to a higher calorie, high carb protocol for 5-7 days then going back to the very low calorie days works and I can continue on a longer round. I am almost to my goal! Also, by the end of P2 I am generally fed up with meat and veggies and I go crazy with nuts and cheese and such on P3. Perhaps this will allow me to be happier for longer with the traditional P2, then P3 foods and restrictions.

The thought of eating until I'm content has me giddy... and I simply love potatoes!

If my losses are small but my energy and outlook are high then it will be a success.

I've been of the mind that potatoes are baaaaaaad... still trying to come to terms with the fact that I'll purposefully be eating loads of them!

Stayed at 125 this am, even with my indulgence last night.

Skipped bfast and had potato soup (cold boiled potatoes warmed up in ff chicken stock) and some left over roasted white and sweet potatoes from the other night. Supper was venison, 1/2 baked sweet potato and a few green beans.

It has def helped with cravings and nibbling between meals. But I am not really seeing any improvement in the bg readings. Still some crazy high spikes after a meal with just taters, that take a while to resolve.

So I'm going back to regular juddd, with my cravings hopefully under control, but I'll keep potatoes in the rotation on ud's (had been including them more recently).

And we'll see what the scale says in the morning.

I'm eating potatoes today
I had some for a bedtime snack, and enjoyed them, even after doing 3 days of potatoes 2 weeks ago. I thought for sure I would have a hard time swallowing.

Thursday, Friday, and sat, I will eat potatoes. Maybe Sunday too, we shall see how things go.

Today will be a DD, tomorrow MD, sat DD
Eating mostly peeled baby reds today, I already warned my friend that I will be out shopping with no going out for lunch today while shopping, unless they offer a baked potato
Starting weight. 132.3

On my 4th potato day and nowhere NEAR bored! I have found some of the tastiest ways to eat potatoes on here.

My weight started out at (BMI measure) 24.96 on Tue, yesterday it was at 24.79, and today was at 24.49 . Now that's not my all time low on weight, the holidays were not friendly to me, but I'm slowly but surely getting back down there.

Demonica, nice job!! How many more days are you planning on doing?

I had baby reds chilled for lunch , and hashbrowns for dinner.
I cheated and got pre shredded crystal farms hashbrowns in the refrigerator section. 0 fat. I know some add some fat, but I have not found a need to.
Drank lots of coffee with sweetener NO cream today, and I am excited to try my coconut cocoa republic of tea tonight! Just found it at a coffee shop I stopped at today.
I hope this gets me to goal! I leave early we'd morn for vaca!!

I'm just gonna go till I run out of potatos. I have some left in the 10 lb bag I bought Sunday and still have a whole 5 lb bag that I haven't even started on yet. Considering I only eat maybe 5 or 6 a day at the most, it may be awhile, lol. Which is fine. Then my biggest meal dilemma is how to fix the potatos. I could just eat plain mashed potatos with a little pepper on them and be happier than a lark with it.

Till you run out of potatoes Love it!!
I weighed in at 130.7 this morning. Loss of 1.6 lbs overnight, obviously a LOT of water, but it's just SO crazy to me!! I drank well over a gallon of water and herbal tea yesterday! And had some salt with all of my potatoes, just over 600 cal worth!

Today I am VERY hungry! Wierd because last time I ate potatoes for 3 days after the first day I lost my hunger!! Anyway started the day with dry fried hashbrowns with a smear of SF Ketchup. I season them with salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Really starting to enjoy them this way!

Also lots cold with either A1 or Dill champagne mustard. Trying to hit about 1200 calories for a mid day, and I'm so hungry today I should make it!!

I am guessing I'll want about 2 lbs (raw weight) of potatoes a day? That's only about 700 calories! I'm sure I'll eat a bit more the first few days and then less as potatoes stop being my new best friend, haha.

I am still doing most of UD's as a modified potato fast. Still eggs for B with coffee and HWC everyday.
Here are my results so far. I am having higher calories on my DD's than usual which has not resulted in any gains which is good.
1/7 DD 148.2
1/8 UD 145.8
1/9 DD 145.4 A drop after an UD where I combined potatoes and stayed below my calorie limit too. See self, it works if you work it.
1/10 UD 143.8 YEA!! creeping down again.
1/11 DD 143.8 I have a strange new pattern emerging but a good one.
1/12 UD 142.6 I like this new pattern.
1/13 DD 142.2 Unheard of
1/14 UD 142.2 Stranger yet
1/15 DD 143.4 Perfect bounce since I did not do a potato or anything odd UD yesterday
1/16 UD 142.8 Doing a modified potato day
1/17 DD 141.8 Another loss after an UD (modified potato day)
1/18 UD 142.4 I am going to do another modified potato day
1/19 DD 142.2 Doing potatoes for L and D today
I am liking that my bounces are getting smaller and smaller as well as a tiny drop in weight which I hope to see continue.

Adi - my bounces are also moderating as I have been doing the modified protein/potato DDs this week with regular UDs (though I try and incorporate a bit of potato) and the scale is moving!!! No big whooshes but steady small declines which I am happy to see for a change. My DDs are also high - around 800 or so cals with the protein/potato combination so easy to maintain. I am going to keep this up on DDs and hope it continues!

I believe the Potato fast originally was to eat till satisfied without doing JUDDD rotations. Some people stick to rotations while eating potatoes, and some don't YMMV.

I have been trying to stick to my rotations (within reason) not sure if I could eat 1700 calories of potatoes!! and some are adding a little fat or protein to their day.

UPDATE- after day 2 of eating potatoes I am at 131.8, up from yesterday, but still down from the first day. Will do a DD potato day again today!

True. I could not get satisfied just eating the potatoes. No matter how many I ate, I was still hungry so I opted for the modified plan and start my day with eggs for breakfast and then all is well. Oh and I stick to the UD/DD rotations as well. Eggs for breakfast with HWC gets the calories up to where they belong along with the potatoes. And I was eating the cold boiled and went through a bunch of those delicious gold yukons. I am out of those and plugging along with the cheap bags of russets for now.
Just had my potato soup for lunch and made enough ahead for dinner. I like the way I don't have to think on potato DD's. Gives my brain a rest I guess.
