Same here re some family. However, it has helped me become who I am. Only time will tell if I can make others happy with this kind of assistance. It is important to know the difference between organizing and decluttering and for the client to know that only they can make the decision about what is important enough to rent space/time in their home/life.

Sounds very good, Cici and I need you too! Again, it would be a bit of a commute (lol, Adi). I'm afraid I couldn't compensate you for the trip.
I'm sure you will have lots of satisfied clients! |

Ha! I was hoping nobody would notice. I quit dying it a few months ago, so all the gray has grown in.

Haha, I'm blind, I do see one ear now.
I like your hair lighter, and it looks blonde, not gray. |

I am going to Disney in a week and am looking forward to it! I am going with my Mom to visit her Dad/my Grandfather and to run the Disney Goofy Challenge. It is going to be so strange being there without the kids. I hope I can find some fun gifts to bring back for them. Blinkey mouse ears sound perfect.
I think that you have a great business idea Cici. So many people need help just getting everything sorted out and organized. I have cleared out our basement storage over the last few months and it would have been great to work with someone who could just tell me honestly when something really should go.

Hey all, I am thinking of subscribing to one of those monitoring services...for the peace of mind in knowing that I could contact someone in case of a real emergency. As you know, my husband passed away last January and at first I had a few friends and family members checking in frequently. Not so much now, but that's okay. I know they have lives of their own and particularly since the cataract surgery I've been more of a loner. But in case of an emergency, I think I'd like something else.
Has anyone used one of these services or know of anyone who has and do you have any comments on them? The one I'm thinking about is less than $40 a month and includes a mobil service in case I decide to travel. Thanks for any of your suggestions.

Good to see you posting, Mary. I can't help you with the service, but I think it's a great idea if you're feeling like it could help you. Peace of mind is so important. I hope someone can give you some information about them. Hope you're feeling better - how's the eye doing?

Thanks, LCG, as for the eyes, same-o, same-o. Hoping it has stabilized enough that I'll get a prescription for glasses when I go back at the end fo the month. This has been the pits and I'm getting cabin fever pretty badly. I'm planning a trip to Vegas as soon as I can see again.

No advice on the monitoring. My grandmother had one, but refused to keep it on her, so when she did fall and break a hip, it was still 8 hours before a neighbor found her. So all I can say is if you get one, make sure you always have access to it.

Great idea, Cici. A friend of mine does that for a living--including cleaning my house every month and doing some organizing for me. Since I don't drive, I ask her to occasionally pick up heavy or bulky stuff for me at the store (cat litter, detergent, TP) and pay her for her time and gas doing that (plus, of course, the cost of the stuff). If any of your clients are non-drivers or housebound or disabled or frail or even just super-busy, that could be another welcome service you could consider offering to them. She also feeds and pets my cats when I'm out of town (for a fee), and that also seems like a service you could conceivably offer your clients. I hope you line up some good clients very soon.

Brilliant idea Cici, you can come over here when my builders leave! (If ever.)
Dawn I love the new Avatar. Yes, Sven that is me, and thank you for the kind words. I am hanging in there, but I always own up to having had a face lift 11 years ago! Mary, I can't offer any advice as of course I am in the UK. But I would reiterate the advice to keep it with you at all times if you do go ahead. My dear FIL took it off every night and would then wander off the the loo in the dark!

The pendant worked via his home phone, but he was housebound so travelling wasn't an issue. It brought great peace of mind for all of us because even if DH&I were out of town, we knew he could get help quickly if necessary. I think it's a great idea if you're feeling vulnerable. I hope you soon get your vision sorted out. |

Thanks for your comments about the emergency monitoring service...after sleeping on it for a few days, decided to do it. Called today and will receive the equipment next week. I don't anticipate anything, but think the peace of mind will pay for itself. The service is actually cheaper than the website and the old ad I was looking at and is refundable at any time...a 30-day trial period and is good anywhere in the U.S. Not so if I travel overseas but who knows if I'll do that. (actually, since I'm retired military, I can hop military flights for a minimal fee, if any, and have been planning on using that bennie.)
So, thanks again for your comments.... |

Mary I'm glad you got the service! Both of my grandmothers had/ have it. They were quite a bit older than you are when my parents convinced them to get it (91 and 84), but we all rest better. The grandmother who past away a few years ago actually had to use it twice!!!!
Cici your business idea sounds great. In my career I have treated several hoarders. Only one has really successfully won the battle, but he has considered doing something like this since he learned great organizational skills getting his home in order and really understands the struggle some people face when parting with belongings. Dawn your avi is beautiful- I saw Keira's minnie ears and my vision is not the best. I thought you had blonde highlights, too! Cindy your cat was lovely but you are lovelier !!!!!

Do they work well? My mother and grandmother are having health and mobility issues and I was going to see if they'd both consider them as a safety measure.
