Very interesting Report on what our brain looks like if ones a drugs addict/
And recovering drug addiction. How it heels once off drugs.
Evidence possibly that food addiction is real.
Recommends that on UD nt eating high fat/high sugars. To heal our brains!
Hummm maybe I won't have sour cream on my potato this evening.

Definitely on board with the low sugar. I'm not convinced high-fat is a problem though.

Yup, I agree. So often foods that are described as "high fat and addictive" contain fat coupled with lots of carbs and/or sugar (e.g., French fries, pastries, potato chips, ice cream). Not too many of us want to eat spoonful after spoonful of butter or sour cream or coconut oil in the absence of grains, other starches, and sugar. I find healthy fats in a lowcarb diet very satiating and self-limiting.

My cholesterol rate 280, no more Atkins for me.
But my good HCL is high.
So my dr isn't worried. No meds RX.
He said to eat only couple eggs a week....I'm like right, we have chickens. That will never happen.
But I do try to limit red meat- yes Dangit butter to.
We eat a lot of fish and chicken.
I'll look up belly fat. Thanks guys. I was afraid of boring yo.
GET the book lots of tips, inf.

I 2nd this! Wheat Belly by William Davis is a very good book that I will be reading over my break. Has much to say about our addictions and the fact that if you have heart issues, allergies, sinus ailments, or belly fat, wheat is your enemy. Dr. Davis has an excellent blog, that can be googled and you can learn everything from just reading his daily bloggings.

I'm afraid I'm also not convinced doctors have any idea of what cholesterol should be. I'm much more concerned about my triglycerides than my total cholesterol or LDL. My doctor only cares about my total cholesterol. I've read way too much about the lack of correlation between cholesterol and heart disease.

That's one of the most frustrating things about any research of nutrition. They always pair high fat with high carb and then blame the fat for the negative impact. I don't think a diet of JUST fat is completely natural (which is probably why people lose weight so quickly on fat fasts) but it's clear high fat mixed with high carb is going to cause a problem. Atkins even talks about this in his book!
