DD Wednesday
Thought I'd get the jump on this one
![]() I've been doing really well with nothing but tea and water before dinner-- some caffeine, and then not (b/c you know how I get ![]() ![]() ) and then all 500 calories for dinner.I'll re-evaluate in the New Year, but DH does ok with this too-- he has more calories on his DDs, so he can do coffee, then sip a protein shake in the afternoon, then the 500 cals for dinner with me. Anyway-- last DD we had a ton of smoked salmon, 2T of lite cream cheese, and a LC bagel (ours are 170 cal per bagel) and were perfectly happy. Not sure what we'll do on this DD, but I think chicken, and maybe broccoli? And an apple. Woo! I am trying a new tea, I got one for my birthday (go figure it's a green earl grey with some licorice-- I don't eat licorice, but I seem not to mind it in some teas... will report once I have it.

Funny you got a jump, Soren. I just went into FD and planned out tomorrow's DD menu. 4 eggs and 1 oz cheddar cheese. Maybe spread throughout the day, maybe all for dinner. 423 calories. Egg fast here I come!
Glad to see you back, by the way Soren! |

I am so enjoying DDs because of all the rich food I am eating on my UDs, though yesterday wasn't too bad, whew.
I try to manage on liquids until the evening too, tonight will be some of the delish veggie curry I made yesterday but without rice and popadoms and sweet sherry and mince pie.... |

I'm going for a holiday lunch today (another one...) and am planning on making that my meal for the day. The restaurant does divine salads, so I'll choose one of those and avoid the dressing and the myriad "stuff" that could make it 1,000 calories...

I'm glad to be back. I *think* I'll wind up traveling next year like I did this past year-- i.e. every other month (or more), mostly to CA, but with a trip or 2 to Manila (got a head's up from my boss, so we'll see what shakes out).I'm hoping I have enough time at home in between to actually lose some more weight, and not just repair damage from each trip. That said, I hope not to do damage on each trip, but actually stick to rotations. Sigh. Cindy-- sounds good... I do love indian, but my DH doesn't, so I don't even have to face the temptation that often. Al-- wishing you the best of luck on your plan for the day. Sounds good, make sure to avoid cheese on the salad too, that racks up the cals pretty hard. Maybe they have a low/0 cal dressing you can have? I'm mostly going to be moderating some online sessions today, starting shortly, so I better get my tea made S. |

So grateful for this DD. I seriously felt sick yesterday with the crap I ate, my carb level was at least 120g which is about what I eat in a week LOL and it included...the dreaded WHEAT that makes me feel horrendous!
![]() Today is a low as I can go day Black coffee Beef broth with tomatoes/sauce Tuna/relish should be under 300cal by end of day |

Just wanted to chime in how much I look forward to DD's. At first I thought they were (or would be) brutal. But the more I do them, the easier they are.
I've been sticking to below (or way below) my DD cals with not too much problem. I hope it stays that way. I think I may even start seeing the scale drop. This might not seem like a really big deal, but it is for me. I've been "doing" JUDDD since May (?) - but losing and gaining the same 3 pounds. I really wasn't doing much counting on my UDs. So I decided to "knuckle in" and really get serious. I've been watching the scale actually move downward even after an UD. You might say "I'm psyched" Just wanted to thank you all for being SO encouraging over the months I've been with this board. Even though I haven't been doing as well as I like, I feel strongly that this is the way to go...

Jo, glad to hear from you and glad you've figured out what you need to do to get those numbers going down. DDs are nice in their own way. I agree. I've just recently really come to enjoy their peace and simplicity. And the weight going down is definitely plenty of motivation.

Jo! I agree with counting. I have to count both UD and DD to really lose, and with all the travel I did this year, i also lost/gained/lost/gained a good (same)10-20lbs ![]() I'm just holding on during the holidays, not counting on UDs and doing my 500 on DDs, and the best part about it is NO GUILT. since it's a dd today, and I don't want to go into caffeine overload, off to get a glass of water S. |

It's still early to know how this DD will go for me, but so far I've had coffee with half and half, an ounce of light cheese, and some radishes, and feel pretty satisfied. I'll try to keep to that (or add some tea with half and half) until I have homemade chicken broth and hard-boiled eggs/chicken breast for dinner.
zagnut, I hope you feel better after a nice wheatless and lowcalorie down day. Jo, congratulations on the scale dropping. It's great to have an example of someone who sticks with this even when the rewards--in terms of weightloss--aren't immediate or always happening. |

Soren, thank you for starting this thread. DD threads help me get through the day.
Jo, that is great news about the scale going the right direction for you! Last weekend I took a break from JUDDD - went on a little minivacation with dh and just ate when/what I felt like. I don't know if this is the reason, but the last couple of dd's have been harder than normal. Not terrible, just thinking about food all the time. It does feel good to get a break from all the food, I do like that part. I think my mind is playing tricks on me, so I'm assauging it with mini meals. Noon to three is the most difficult time for me - I should be working instead of obsessing. . .. . off to get some work done . . . . three pm will be here soon. . . . .

2 cups of coffee and some better than bouillon broth. I love how easy it's getting to go without any chewable food until late in the day. Life is so much simpler on DD's!

![]() ![]() ![]() We were travelling between London and Devon today and stopped to visit an old friend, ended up having 2 glasses of wine and some baguette with her, so this evening i had a corn cob and some homemade mushroom soup. I calculate it at 577, not bad all things considered. |

I had a coffee with cream this morning 1 hard boiled egg with a mini chocolate for lunch greek yogurt with cocoa and another coffee for a snack 1 hard boiled egg and another tea for dinner I plan to have a cup of tea before bed (20 cals with cream) -- and then I'll end this DD at around 500 calories I keep telling myself ..you can do this, tomorrow is an UD -- you can have that chocolate tomorrow. ... lol PS. Soren, a Davids Tea opened up in Square One!!!!! --- so excited, Im currently obsessed with cocomint cream from the Winter Collection

![]() I got some prezzies for other folks there, the day after they opened (apparently). I got a small bag of cocomint, and now it's a favorite. I'm hoping I get some for Christmas, and if I don't, I'm putting in a huge order ![]() there is a box from David's under the tree for me, but I can't open it till the big day so excited!!! |

I have a question...Do you have to eat all your calories on your up day. I have over 1900 to eat and I am just poked full and uncomfortable by the end of the day. If I try to eat most of my food do I really need it all. I am new to this way of life and am trying hard to get the grasp of it all. I think I need a book. Any suggestions?

Right on Grammy! I had a bit of trouble at first too. Peanut butter by the spoonful at the end of the day was my saving grace. And a bit of alcohol never hurts! If you're into that...

Drinks in general will bring you to your levels quickly. I think one 20 oz soda is nearly 300 calories. Probably not the healthiest way to reach your goal, but one of the easiest.
