Nausea

I've had moderate to a little moreso than moderate nausea for two-three days now. This morning I gagged a little bit while brushing my teeth. It's lasted all day long and is still bothering me. If it hadn't bothered me before today I'd think it was DD related, but it must not be. I even did a pregnancy test, lol, which was negative. The only thing I've eaten that is different from usual is 2 prunes at night, twice now. None today. I doubt that is it. I don't think I have a virus, but maybe that is it. Seems like it would be worse if it were viral, as in vomiting and not just nausea...although that might happen. Any clue? A little worried, but not enough to go (back) to the doctor after having been just week before last (with the flu). My insurance doesn't kick in until I've met deductible and I haven't. I've been googling all night, but really can't figure it out.

ETA: My appetite is normal...I've had trouble with acid reflux in the past but have not needed to take pepsid AC (which is what I used successfully for years) for many months now. I never had nausea with the a.r. before though. I have noticed a bit of the reflux symptoms lately, possibly from the (huge) reintroduction of carbs/sugar. Is it possible that maybe the nausea is acid reflux? I'm afraid I'm going to have to take the pink stuff because I am getting worse as the night goes on...really hate taking it as it will complicate the "other" problem.

There are a bunch of different bugs going around this year; I think it could be some kind of virus. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

OH there is NOTHING I detest more than nausea! I'm so sorry, LG! I have no idea what it could be, though. Did you feel that way when you were sick with the flu? I won't talk about the PG thing since you already tested... (but are you late?)

Keep us posted! I sure hope you feel better tomorrow.

Question: Have you been taking the prunes for constipation? If so, constipation can definitely lead to nausea. Peristalsis slowing down in the intestine can lead to retained food in the stomach or delayed emptying...and that does not make for a happy tummy.

As far as a virus, sometimes it can manifest as simple nausea and not progress to vomiting or diarrhea. Our hospital has had a couple of cases that sound similar.

Have you checked your temperature?

Lastly, if you aren't intolerant to ginger, you might try to make a tea out of fresh ginger (pour boiling water over a slice, steep 5-10 min, sweeten as needed, then take by tiny sips). I've even used powdered ginger the same way for my daughter and myself. We live with recurrent nausea thanks to IBS (and the meds used to treat its symptoms).

I really hope you feel better soon.

I agree with Rayne on trying Ginger for nausea. I keep a small bottle of chewable "ginger trips" and they are wonderful for tummy ailments. I don't usually or rarely suffer Acid Reflux, but I had a bit this evening and I am wondering if it was the stressful day that caused it? And now that I think about it, about an hour after the reflux, I had a waive of nausea.

So, I just googled AR on PubMed and it said that "nausea" is a symptom of AR especially after eating.

Along with aiding nausea, apparently ginger also helps restrict acid production as well as helping create a mucous layer in the stomach (acting as a buffer) to reduce pain. (At least, so say a few sites I found in a google search. )

My first thought was what Rayne mentioned. If you're experiencing constipation, being backed up can definitely lead to nausea. I'm sorry you're not feeling well, and hope this passes soon!

I vote for virus. Mostly because I am just recovering from similar symptoms. And DH and friends in various parts of the country mentioned ditto. 'Tis the season. Eat small amounts, avoid any food that makes it worse, sip ginger tea, and be patient. Mine took about five tedious days to pass.

Thank you all! I did take some of the pink stuff and feel better today. Hopefully it will continue to abate...I did think about making a ginger tea, as I have some powdered ginger, but tea for some reason really made me gag yesterday and I was afraid to try that. I am still more or less constipated. Do not feel like that is resolved...I wondered if it could cause nausea.

I'm not late, although I've only had TOM twice this year. Was regular as clockwork, but now am going through peri-menopause apparently...

Thanks again everyone. I hope it was just a bug or something.

Hope your feeling better today.
I take Magnesium at least 250mg 2 tabs, or I'd never go to the potty.
Also The Calm powder is good also for guts. the flavor takes some getting us to but it's very good at keeping things going, smile.
Feel better!

every 1- 2 months on JUDDD i notice i start to get nausea on DDs and at first it drove me crazy trying to figure out what the heck caused it. what i found that helped me was once the nausea hit, i switch rotations. it still happens to me 10 mnths in on this woe. i still dont know why it happens. but switching the DD\UDs helps for a while!

You don't mention it as a change in food, but are you by any chance eating more coconut oil or coconut butter than usual? It takes a while to build up tolerance to them, and I experienced nausea eating that when I ate too much, too soon.

I've found that the Rx Compazine (sp?) helped me a lot with nausea, as did ginger (Zevia ginger ale, ginger tea) and chamomile tea.

I hope you feel back to normal soon.

Hope this isn't TMI, but I've been having the same issue, on both UD and DD's this week. Both issues actually, because I was also pretty constipated. For whatever reason (probably what I ate yesterday) things got...moving on this DD. Like seriously moving. And the nausea has mostly gone away. So I hope the prunes help you!

Thanks guys. I don't know what it was, really. I know I feel better today. Thank goodness. More prunes today, lol...hope that wasn't it. I don't eat them on DD because they are about 50 cals a prune! No way I want to use my DD cals on prunes.
