WOE: JUDDD
Start Date: 10-2-12 (LC) 11-18-12 (JUDDD)
30 Days In...

...and I'm finally 'feeling' it. JUDDD, that is. After seeing that WOE listed on so many posters' stats, and a fortuitous visit to my journal by Lyric's Mom (Rayne), I took the plunge - and I am SO happy that I did.

I began a 4th attempt at Atkins this year, fully expecting to mirror my previous losses; namely, about 30 lbs in 3 mos.

Uhh, NO.

A bit of a loss at first, and then a lot of recycling, bouncing, and futility.

My last 30 days of Atkins:

10/19 - 241.6
11/18 - 240.8 (- 0.8 lb)

My first 30 days of JUDDD:

11/18 - 240.8
12/18 - 234.0 (- 6.8 lbs)

Per my calorie tracker (below), my calories on Atkins were low...and almost the average of my current UDs and DDs.

While I do eat carbs now, I'm consider myself LC half the time. DDs are my LC days, and I'm beginning to truly appreciate them. They're a cleansing, mentally and physically.

The only explanation is the extremes of calories from day to day, finally waking up my metabolism (which had apparently been comatose before). And, of course, the SIRT-1 gene thingy that I don't understand.

I don't expect to lose at the same rate as this first month on JUDDD, but I am happy that I've found a WOE that is livable for me and my family and, as it happens, is much more affordable than LC was the month prior.

So...thank you, Lyric's Mom (Rayne)!! Your suggestion has made for one VERY happy and grateful JUDDDer!!

And thank you to all the JBs here in our little corner of LCF. I've been learning so much from all of you...you're the best!! I feel honored to know you all.

I'm excited that JUDDD is working for you! So many of us have the same story. Stopped losing on LC, came to JUDDD and started losing again whether we eat LC or HC.

Rayne, I'm in the same boat you are. I started Atkins for the third time in early November, and after three weeks, I'd only lost a pound. At Thanksgiving, I ended up gaining another few pounds. I was miserable. But only until I finally looked up what JUDDD is after seeing it on so many posts.

Since then, I have lost nearly ten pounds, and I am feeling so much better in general. JUDDD is working for me, and I'm so thankful that I was introduced to it here.

I stay LC as much as I can, even on my UDs. On my UDs, I eat mostly salad, eggs, bacon, etc. On whatever weekend day I have my UD, I allow myself to eat some junk food to satisfy those cravings. And it's really working for me so far.

I am happy that JUDDD is working for you Rayne! I have found that the calorie rotation is what my metabolism needed to get burning calories again too. I was on a 1200 calorie diet for 3 months as part of a boot camp competition that was quite expensive to join and lost 8 pounds fast in the first two weeks and then plateaued for the rest of the program. My starting JUDDD calories were more and I lost pretty quickly so I am sure metabolism must play a huge part.
Thanks for posting your journey and success!

I posted this in your weight loss journal as well, but wanted to add it here too:
You are SO welcome! We "Rayne's" have to look out for each other! I am so happy that you really committed to giving this WOE a chance. It really is a matter of learning to trust the process. It also is so unconventional that it takes some getting used to. I can't tell the number of times I've lost after an up day and sometimes showed a minor gain after a DD. It really doesn't always follow the "pattern" we have set in our heads and isn't at all linear but it works. Like others have posted previously, it really is like the ball bouncing down the stairs...it goes up at times but still progressively is going downward.

It took me a bit to trust and relax with this WOE but when I got there, it was fabulous! I no longer freaked out if one day the scale was up a few lbs because I knew that after one or two DD's, it would be gone--and it usually always took an extra pound or two with it! :-) From reading the other posts, I also realized that the body would take occasional breaks/stalls and not to stress out about it. Even though I had two stalls totaling of 5-6 weeks total, I still averaged a loss of 5lbs a month. It seems to catch up with itself in the end.

And lastly, (because I don't want to bore you here), I love that you can never truly mess up this WOE. If you have an UUAD or several of them in a row even (cuz we all need the occasional break or have unexpected trips, etc), you just get back on rotation the next day. You can always start back up "tomorrow". And unlike low carb where you have to be uber-careful not to get out of ketosis, there's no foods that are off-limits. You get to pick the terms and not feel guilt over it. So yah, lots of reasons to love this WOE and I am happily and easily maintaining on it.

Congrats to your awesome success over the past month. I'm so excited to share your journey into a happy, healthy and 'calm' 2013.

Thanks, everyone!

I also wanted to mention that I'm still working on getting my UDs and DDs under control and to the letter. I'm compliant about 50% of the time (which for me is a big deal LOL).

This WOE is extraordinarily forgiving, something I'm definitely not accustomed to.

So happy with your positive report, Rayne! I'm glad we have this forum to share our experience with this WOE - it's not like any other diet I've ever seen. It's so easy and it works, even for those of us who haven't been able to lose weight before.

Thanks, JBs!

I just remembered something that made me smile...when I'd first heard about JUDDD on a different website several years ago, my reaction at that time was a rolling of the eyes and derision.

"How stupid. That could never work."

We've been blessed to have the courage to try this woe and also give it the time to work it's magic. It does seem like a crazy fad diet, but it's actually the easiest 'diet' I've ever worked

Like someone else mentioned in another thread, it's really not a "diet" because there are no limitations or rules on what we have to eat. It's more of an "eating schedule" which provides us with how many calories to eat and when to eat them.

And, oh, JUDDD does just keep getting better and better!

Can you believe most of us are facing Christmas feasting with anticipation and no guilt? DD? Cool. UD? Fun. UUAD? Enjoy.
