Everyone gave some sort of variation of "OMG, I noticed and I just didn't think I should say anything. Blah, Blah, Blah..."

Thanks ladies! I'm also excited and more proud of the confidence. My roomie is an absolute pain in my butt, but I wouldn't take her any other way and I drive her just as crazy.

My NSV over the weekend, and ongoing, is that I'm taking a bunch of my clothes in a few inches. My tops are all floating around me, and the knit capri pants I wear for around home are droopy and clown pant-ish. Some are clothes my mom took in for me a few months ago. They're still perfectly good clothes and I like them, so I'm not ready to get rid of them.

I've also mastered the sewing machine (finally, at age almost 47) and am doing my own alterations now. I'm so proud! And looking thinner in some trimmer, more fitting "new" clothes!

Lisa and Carol you are both doing AWESOME!

Carol, I would like to FedEx a few items

I actually got a Visa card and the reward is free tailoring. You get X free dollars of tailoring when you spend X dollars. I have a few things from last fall that I want taken in, but I have loads of pants that need to be taken up!

Thanks everyone! I need all the encouragement on the sewing that I can get. I'm not a very precise seamstress, but no one is pointing and laughing yet. This really is a big deal. In high school home economics, I could not master threading my sewing machine to save my life. A stoner-dude named Dino had to thread my machine for me every morning!

Soren, trust me...you don't want lessons from the likes of me! Same goes for the package from Carly!

Lisa, congrats on 40 lbs down!!! That is awesome! I am looking forward to that 40 lb mark myself. Your roommate is really supportive too, although I probably would have wanted to run for the hills.

Carol, I love the visual of "Dino" threading your machine. Sewing is truly an art, and such a great skill to have. My mother was an excellent seamstress, but I never had the talent or interest. It would be wonderful to make some of my own clothes, not to mention tailoring the ones I already have! Enjoy!

Carol - great NSV... I am thinking the same thing, I need to take in a few blouses as I am not ready to just get rid of them. I am also close to retirement, and trying to not have to buy work clothes for the last few months. My blouses are starting to be too big to look good though. I do sew, although not a great sewer - I think I can do vertical darts on my blouses. I'll practice on the one I like least.

LOL at the home ec thing. I had that class in 7th grade, and could NOT master the sewing machine either. For a straight A student, that was VERY FRUSTRATING

I can sew a button by hand, and do some minor repairs by hand... and of course, I perform open-squeaker-surgery on the stuffies yearly.

I had a weird sort of NSV the other day-- decided to own it, and so share it with you all here:

I'm walking Haka yesterday, on this nice nature/bike path that leads behind the houses here, towards a couple schools, park, tennis courts, etc... I think it goes for 5k or so... Anyway, this is where we always do the 5pm walk, and he was feeling full of Fall energy, so we were going a longer way than usual.

I have a sort of slightly odd neighbor lady-- she's maybe my age or early 50's, has 2 teen girls... and she jogs. Which is fine.
It's what she wears... like, a tube top (strapless) and weird shorts.
Ok, who am I to judge.

Anyway, a couple years ago, I was getting into walking/jogging (before asthma set in) and I'd see her out there.

Yesterday, she passes me and calls out "Looking Good".

Ok, so, there you have it. Random compliments from slightly weird strangers... I'll take them when I can get them!
LOL

WTG mama and Soren. I love smaller jeans random compliments from weirdos!

Today's installment from the Dawn NSV files, though I guess it's really a scale victory: I needed a prescription refilled and the doctor's office told me I was due for an exam, and could I come in this morning? I couldn't see my regular doctor, but got to see the PA who was very nice. Anyway, she did my exam, wrote my script, ordered a mammogram (ugh) and let me go on my merry way. As I was out in the parking lot, almost to my car, I heard somebody calling my name. I turned around and it was the PA. She said she was reviewing my chart and realized I'd lost a phenomenal amount of weight---30 pounds! I giggled and told her that I have actually lost 130 pounds, but I'd lost about 100 before I started going to her practice. She asked me how I did it, and she seemed very open to the concept of alternate day fasting.

sorry you have to get the boob-squish, but how cool is it that she came running out to find you b/c she was soooooo amazed by your accomplishment?

i'm surprised you didn't have to scoop her up off the pavement when you told her it was 130!

Love a random compliment Soren. And who need to sew when you can cook like you do????

Mnmama... the pants don't lie! Yay

Dawn, as always you are astonishing all and sundry with your phenomenal losses.

Carol you inspired me. I got out my machine and finished the kingsize bedspread I have been working on and off (mostly off) for the past 5 years. Whew.

Hey, glad to be of service! That must've felt great to finish a project like that. Have you put it into use?

I will be hitting Mom's house this evening for another sewing session. I have 6 more tops basted and should be able to run them through the machine fairly quickly. I can even fill a bobbin on my own now, so watch out!

I used to sew all my clothes and the girls when they were small. The truth is that now it s almost more expensive to buy fabric and notions than it is to buy some of the bargains around.

And yes the coverlet is already in use, and Dh says it looks great.

Awesome NSVs! These made my day.
I would love to have seen the look on Dawn's PA's face when she said she had lost 130 pounds

I haven't used my sewing machine in years. I make my minor adjustments by hand, but it's getting hard to thread the needle I keep moving it closer and further and cursing because someone replaces all my needles with imposters that have tiny eyes <I'm getting old> I bet my bobbins shrunk, too.

Soren, random compliments from weirdos is great. I tend to think they really mean it and aren't just making small talk.

mnmama- the pants don't lie!

Cracking UP at your PA, Dawn! LOLOL!!! I'm with the others, can only imagine the look on her face when you told her your REAL weight loss number. <snort> You are awesome gf!!!

Soren, congrats to you with the crazy lady complementing you (she's RIGHT this time!) and doesn't purging stuff out feel good? Yay!!!

mama, woohooo, awesome job!!!!

Kissa, you are beautiful before AND after. XO

LCG, I am also jealous of your sewing abilities!!! I have always wanted to try, but 1. I don't have a sewing machine. 2. I have nowhere to put it. 3. I don't want to be around my MIL long enough for her to show me how. LOLOL!!!

Ok, my NSV is that I cleaned out all the winter coats/accessories last night. I am donating ALL of my fat coats. I tried them on as I was making the donation piles out and I can wrap my coats around me completely. Since I don't see myself really any differently, I still cannot believe the coats ever fit me. I couldn't have been that big...? (and I am not that small now!) I have issues! ANYHOO, they're going! Plus, I bought a few fall jackets & vests since I had nothing to wear now. They're roomy mediums.
