I'm just checking in to add one. I've been maintaining for almost a year now (although I'd ultimately like to lose another 10-20lbs) and I occasionally berate myself for not making more progress. However, I was transferring spring / summer clothes into my closet today and trying things on as I did. It eventually occurred to me that everything from last year..fits this year! That means I've kept the weight off for a whole freakin' year! I mean, I know I have because of what I see on the scale every day, but it really hit home how cool and special that is when I was slipping into clothes that I was so excited to buy last year.

I wanted to share this because sometimes we take for granted how far we've come, especially when the losses stop or sloooooow down, but maintaining is pretty darned amazing stuff too. I need to remind myself of that too
I'm so glad you're still doing well! You were on the boards a lot when I first started and it's wonderful to hear that maintenance is a distinct possibility...no...REALITY! Congratulations, and good to see you!

Well, it was a rough week, with the Aleeya situation but I'm beginning to feel a bit more myself. Dh went to visit his parents, so I engaged in retail therapy.

I stopped into old navy looking for yoga pants with pockets- my xxl are too big and I wear them on travel days- no luck, so if you see any in any stores, ping me.

BUT-- on the clearance rack, a pair of size 18, no stretch, washed-out jeans.
For 5.97, I couldn't resist!

I didn't think they'd even do up yet, but before putting them on the "soon-but-not-yet" pile, I tried them on...

They do up and zip. With massive muffin top- like a bakers dozen... But still!
I claim this as a win for now

Congrats on the new jeans ($5!!!), and I know they will fit perfectly in no time!!

Cindy-- we had to put our little Aleeya (13yr old greyhound) to sleep on Monday-- she had been limping, turns out it was a bone tumor that grew really quickly.

I'm taking it as a NSV that I'm rolling with the emotions this week, and while my UDs have been totally without thought, I've stuck very well to my DDs this week.

At this point, I can say, honestly, that I don't feel like I"m honoring her by overeating or making unhealthy choices. Took some time to get to that point, but I'm there now, so that's good.

back atcha.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Soren. I know from experience that losing a pet is extremely painful. I hope you continue to think good thoughts of your time with her and "honor" her, as you say, in the best way you know how.

JUDDD is Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet or The Alternate Day Diet by Dr. Johnson. If you google JUDDD calculator you will get to his website and can read more! JUDDD has transformed my life. I can't sing it's praises enough.

Read here at LCF. There are tons of informative threads and stickies! I hope you stick around!

Oh and to all my buds... Awesome NSVs. I just love this tread!

Soren,
So sorry to hear about your baby girl. Cancer sucks.
I'd just been thinking the other day that I hadn't seen you posting much in the last week or so and was hoping all was ok. I'm sorry to hear your sad news.

My non scale victories (although small) today - my husband called me "skinny minny" and a friend/acquaintance said "you're losing weight!"

I've noticed, but I didn't think anyone else would just yet.

Size 18 is awesome! You'll be comfortably in them before you know it. I'm glad you and Haka (did I get that name right?) had some hanging out time. I'm sure losing Aleeya is hard for him too. You're right about honoring your baby girl by taking good care of yourself.

I have absolutely no idea if this is due to JUDDD or not BUT....
I went to the eye doctor today for a checkup and to get new glasses. Now I am 64 and I thought eyesight got worse as we age. Not me. Best it has been. EVER.
I have new glasses coming that will have plain glass for my left eye and a weaker prescription for my right eye than I am wearing now. I do have to go to their Austin office for some test for my right eye to be sure there is no glaucoma since both of my parents had it - he wants to be sure and since I went to a satellite office in the town where I work it isn't a full setup for the opthamologist.
So thanks JUDDD for better eyesight.

Better eyesight???? OMG I am so making an appointment with the eye doc. My eyes have been bothering me something terrible with my contacts in. If they got better I think we may be on to something .

NSV: I took my brand new kayak out today for its maiden voyage and I swear it was way easier to slip myself in to it than when I tried this one out a couple of months ago. And with all the exercise I have been newly motivated to do- I feel so much stronger and energized. I couldn't stop giggling tonight!

Wow! That is amazing! Mine has gotten a little worse in the past few years and maybe JUDDD will bring it back into alignment. :-) I'm trying to get my mom to do JUDDD and this would be further incentive.

It would be great if there was a thread in the "What is JUDDD?" info where people posted other physical things that seems to be fixed/aided/reduced by JUDDD, like the people who have more regular cycles, less seasonal allergies, less arthritis and now, better eye sight! And I don't mean NSV's like inches lost, etc., but the other things that doctors look for as markers, like lowered blood pressure and increased insulin sensitivity.

I'm so excited for you. Will you be posting a photograph? (Forgive me, other readers, phoenix17 has a folding kayak and I've never seen one in the UK.)

Better eyesight is marvelous! I would love that to happen to me! I'm just now beginning to notice small print is difficult for me. I have readers, but hate wearing them. I'm sure it's just in the cards for me from here on out, but if my eyesight improved I would be so happy. CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm sure you are slipping more easily into that kayak! That must feel so great!

Mine's kind of goofy. This morning I needed to pluck a hair from my chin. One hair. Only one hair! Not like I have a beard or anything, but normally I have 6 or 7 longish hairs that need to be dealt with. Those other ones are nowhere to be found!

I also notice that my face is looking slimmer. I've been waiting so long for that!

I also notice that my face is looking slimmer. I've been waiting so long for that!
Hurray for emerging cheekbones! And ha!Ha! to missing chin hairs! One can only hope the hormones are shifting?

And the eyesight may be age related...everyone becomes more far-sighted as they get older...which is a great thing if you were near-sighted to begin with, not so much if you had normal vision, and stinks if you were far sighted to begin with...

Now I already had a really strange change about 7 years ago. I have always had good closeup vision and wore glasses to see at a distance. One of my eyes decided to reverse itself and I am near sighted in one and far sighted in the other. People pay good money to have this done but my eyes did it all by themselves. I still have great up close vision and better distance vision. I do not wear my glasses to read or use the computer at all. Just to drive.

So being "more" nearsighted isn't age related so it must be JUDDD related. Yea for JUDDD.

Now my DH is the opposite. He has had to get glasses so he can pass the bus driving test. Not that he wanted to pass the bus driving test.

DH is a coach so he has to drive to games. He doesn't drive a route although he has in the past many years ago. I told him his job is secure since he is one of the few coaches with a bus driving license. Half of them can't get a license due to bad driving records or high blood pressure meds etc. And those are the young ones.
I was an elementary principal and had to watch the bus videos periodically so I could scare them into thinking I watched everyday. I bluffed a lot because I could not hear a thing due to the crunch of the gravel on the dirt roads but they didn't know that.
And when I retire I will never need money bad enough to substitute.

OMG! I so agree!!! I am always trying to find this information and many times it's buried here or in other threads and i just get lucky and stumble across it. Like now, less seasonal allergies!?! Really I was JUST commenting to my husband that I haven't taken my Allegra all month (which is so wired!!!) never would've thought JUDDD!

Now back to the topics at hand, congrats everyone!!! You NSV's keep me going!!! A size 18 and no more laser on my chin!?! I only wish!
