I went to the store yesterday and the cashier was exclaiming over my necklace, how much she liked it...and I had on some earrings she had told me about on an earlier trip (I found them according to her recommendation for $2!). She said she just hadn't been motivated to wear much jewelry or dress up and I said I normally didn't either but that I was losing weight and starting to care more about my appearance. She said, "And you look great!" I said thanks and that I wanted to lose about 50 more lbs. She said, "WHY??!!" I've had some others say that too, but there is no way I look like I should be 180 lbs at 5'3 1/2! Anyway, to make a long story short, it made me feel good.

Woohoo CindyLG. I'm so happy for you!!!

CindyK, a JB shopping trip would be great fun! Can you imagine someone overhearing the changing room conversation about pants not lying ........

Momma, the rings don't lie either!!

Awesome Dawn! Congratulations on discovering you're a size smaller.

This is awesome!
You know, I bet if we were together, people would think we're related. I think, based on the stuff you write, that we're built the same.
Its no secret among my acquaintances and friends that I need to lose weight but when I tell people how much I want to lose (that's a short list, BTW) they're always like "Seriously, you don't have that much to lose!" and I really do wonder where I hide it all. But it's there, obviously, on the scale.
I look at the gal that's my height in that photo I posted earlier of the 6 women, all 150# but different sizes due to height (it's in the "Why the Scale lies" thread, for those interested) and the gal that is my height (5'2") is a larger size than I am, and just looks bigger than I think I look, even though she's 25# lighter.
Cindy - maybe under all this flab, you and I are 2 lean, ripped, muscular machines - total hotties just waiting to be let out! I think I'll go with that, how about you?

When I told people that I was trying to lose about 70-80 pounds in the beginning they were like get out of here, why? They would ask. I'm not sure why they could not see that I was obese. I'm glad I guess, but those same people are really happy for me now and they see that 74 pounds was not an outrageous amount to lose, but I had and still have pretty big girls so I think that helped when I was really heavy. I apparently wasn't ripped under the pudge...

Darn it! You're destroying my dream that when all this flab melts away, I'll be in possession of my very own 6-pack, and I ain't talkin' beer!
My ladies are also quite large...had them made smaller back in 2006 but they're still nothing to sneeze at! Course, now that my belly doesn't stick out underneath them, I'm pleased.

Your quite athletic so you may be way more ripped than I am. I am the absence of ripped at the moment, but one day I would like to look like the 5'2" lady on the far right!

Talk about a NSV! I need to find a picture like that and tape it to my elliptical machine!

Hahahaha!!! I will go with that!! I think the truth of it is, I have more weight on my lower half. People look at my face and upper body when they're talking to me and can't imagine me needing to lose 50 more lbs, but when I walk away they see why!

IKWYM, people, especially cashiers might see one thing when they're talking to me, but when I walk away, I wonder if their eyes might pop out of their head, I just hope they don't laugh and look at each other
When I tell people how much weight I want to lose, like people ay work specifically, they have never asked me why, they just nod congrats on the NSVs everyone!

OMG! Talk about NSVs, I have been wearing a stainless steel bangle/bracelet for the past 25 years which I couldn't take off (at one time thought it will have to be cut off!). I was able to slip it off in the shower yesterday!

And how about not being pre-diabetic anymore! Year ago, doctor was ready to put me on metformin!

I had a nice NSV yesterday! A couple of years ago I fell while out for a walk. I pulled a hamstring in the process, and did not realize that I over-rotated and also injured my opposite knee at the same time, because the hamstring pull was so painful ...WOW). The hamstring healed up in fairly short order, however the knee has been a major problem ever since and has really limited my ability to exercise, etc. I have had to "baby" it since the fall occurred. It caused a me to limp a lot, also. I would always go down the stairs one at a time, with my other leg leading and then step down with the injured one. Well, yesterday I went down a double staircase like a normal person!! It is mostly pain free at this point! I feel like I am starting to actually get my life back now.

Thank you all so so so so much for your encouragement ! I my JUDDD BUDDDs!
