Want to try JUDDD but need your advice
Hi!
I've been reading the JUDDD threads for several months now and I really want to adjust my woe to JUDDD and be part of this great group! I've been eating low carb (around 10-15) and low calorie (500-600 per day) for almost 9months. I've lost 54 lbs, but would like to lose at least 10 more pounds, maybe more. I'm 57 years old, 5'2 and 142lbs and the calculator says I should be eating 1556 UD and 311 DD. Since I've been eating such low calories, do you think that I should do rotations but gradually increase my UD calories until I reach the 1556? I'm afraid that if I just start eating 1556 UD calories that I will gain bigtime. We are going on a cruise in 4 weeks and I want to lose a few more pounds before we go. Or do you think it would be better to start JUDDD after the cruise since I'll be eating more calories during that time and UD rotations won't be so much of a shock to my body? What do you guys think? ![]() Peggy |

If you're eating such low calories every day, you really are starving your body! I'm no expert, but I would start JUDDD at the calculated UD and DD calories, and then just push through whatever temporary gains you may have, especially if you add in carbs. I think your body will be grateful for the additional calories, and after an initial adjustment period, your metabolism will start burning hot again and you'll lose. You may have lowered your metabolism by eating such low calories for so long, and it may need some time to understand it can let go of your fat.
This WOE will be so much more satisfying to you, even if you stay low carb. With your cruise 4 weeks away, you'd have plenty of time to get the SIRTs going in your body, and hopefully that will help with any eating excess that happens on the cruise. I guess my vote would be to start now, get your metabolism revved up, and enjoy that cruise! Good luck and let us know what you decide and how you do!

Thank you everyone for your replies and advice!
![]() I know that JUDDDing will be so much better for me than what I've been doing. Hopefully my metabolism will heal with this woe. It's crazy how nervous I am to start eating more calories.. I think I will keep it low carb for now and maybe start adding them in slowly when I get back from the cruise. So here's my next question: Yesterday I had 625 calories, so should I make today an UD? Thanks so much! Peggy |

Hey Peggy. Yep, if you are ready to jump in, make today an UD.
If going all the way to 1556 calories is too much, aim for over 1200 and take a very few UDs to work your way up. This is going to be a shock to your system...hopefully after a brief adjustment... a very pleasant shock. DO expect the scale to bounce at first. And, given the way you have been eating, if you plan to reintroduce carbs, please do so very very gradually. Between LC and low calories you are almost a poster child for blood glucose spikes. Been there, feels like being drunk with the flu. Welcome to JUDDD. This may be one of the healthiest steps you ever take! DH and I try to cruise at least once every year. If you went from LC/low-cal to cruise feasting without adjusting first, golly, you risk bloating up and feeling ill the whole time. YES, adjust first!!!

I just looked at the calendar. We are celebrating Christmas on 12/29. So if I make tomorrow an UD, the 29th will be an UD too!
Do you think that will be okay? Thanks, Peggy |

Yay, Peggy, your metabolism will thank you for this.
I hope you are ready for a bounce, but remember you are paving the way for health and a lower weight. I ended Atkins trying to drop my cals lower and lower. It was no pleasure. I now eat everything and love my life. |

!I hope you are loving it aleady. Try not to be alarmed by the bounce on the scale. I would expect it since you have been eating so little, but your body will thank you in no time at all. JUDDD is so healing on so many levels, but you have to eat- every other day- or JUDDD can't work it's magic. |
