This is the first thing I've checked on now that I'm back from my trip. Then I had to google chilbains b/c I had NO idea what that was, but yep, doesn't it look just like the picture you posted. So, frostbite just from your own tissues and circulation, huh. who knew that could happen?

sooooooooooo glad you have a diagnosis, and even if you do have surgery (I'm assuming with the heaters and gloves things are now better a bit?) I'm sure it will successful, b/c I think anything you set your mind to will be.

my chili eating, chilly fingered friend (see what I did there? that's funny!)

I think there's some improvement, though it's hard to say. They look the same, but don't hurt quite as much, at least not all the time. I'm not sure though if I'm just tuning out the pain or if it's actually getting better. I'm hoping for the latter.

Thanks for thinking of me! Hehe, I hope the chili and the chilly are not related! Can't give up my chili!!

So glad to hear it wasn't something "new" (per se). It is always great to get a diagnosis!

I hope it clears up soon! Do you take fish oil? That helps with circulation as well and is just plain good for you overall.

Thanks for the and well wishes.

Today, I think I really see/feel improvement. The skin actually looks worse, but I'm pretty certain that's because the swelling is going down. Now it's all wrinkly and dry. My right middle finger is the only one with any real swelling now, and that was the last one to show up, so will probably be the last to go down. I'm thinking if the worst finger is this much improved today, I may be able to avoid surgery. The rheumatologist decided to treat conservatively with the medication for a month and then we can decide if I need to see the surgeon then, unless it gets worse in the meantime.

I'm still pretty sore and banged up from my scooter accident, though I'm starting to move a little less stiffly now. The worst part is where I skinned my knee pretty badly. My arms are starting to feel better though.

I haven't lost any weight this week, and I'm hoping once these issues resolve, that I'll drop another couple pounds before the end of the year. I'd love to hit 168-point-anything before the first. That will put me in "normal" BMI range.

Enough rambling. Must have been the rum balls for breakfast. Could that be why I'm not losing?

I'd send you but if you're rum balling and driving, well, you're on the naughty list for today!

I just can't believe there's a condition where your body gives itself frostbite. That's so crazy!

I had 1/15th of the recipe and the whole recipe had 2 ounces of rum. I think I'm okay. I can't say the same for my coworkers who have been nibbling the rest of the recipe all morning.

I'm glad you are feeling better, Dawn. At some point, you might want to rub coconut oil on the dry and wrinkly skin on your recovering fingers. I find that it clears up dry skin and rashes for me, and it is supposed to have anti-bacterial/healing qualities, which is all to the good.

Dawn- when yor hands are not as swollen try 2 things to keep them warm...
1) Cross your legs and put them between your thighs. It's possible to do this at work and not look too ridiculous... I've been practicing

2) When no one is looking- sit on them- there is no real way to do this in front of others and not feel , but it works.

I am keeping a close eye on my fingers and toes since you found out about the diagnosis since I was diagnosed with Reynauds in high school, too and never really gave it another thought, but boy, my hands and feet have been so cold they feel like they're burning sometimes.

I have been following your situation also, Dawn..and I'm glad to hear that you got a diagnosis...and hopefully some ways to deal with it as it clears up...your hands sure looked like it was painful, and I can only imagine how difficult it was to work with them in that condition...I know you will keep tryng to do all that you can to get better..I wish you a complete and speedy recovery.

Carly, I've done the hands between the thighs thing for years. I even sleep that way. It's second nature to me and I don't even think about whether or not it looks weird anymore. Now, sitting on my hands might be a whole other animal!

Soren, they're getting a little better each day. It's noticeable enough now, where I'm honestly thinking I can get away with not having surgery, which is what I'm trying for at all costs. I surely do NOT want to have surgery. UGH!

I woundn't sit on them on a metal bridge chair, but if it is kinda soft it is a good way to warm them too. At this point my backside has more surface area than my thighs so it totally practical
