Aches and Pains
Noooo not talking about JB's!!!
![]() Hee hee, just wanted to ask a serious question: Are aches and pains common at the beginning of JUDDDing? I have noticed over this past week a lot of headaches, muscle soreness, backache and general fatigue. Nothing serious, I hope, but just feeling worn out! Maybe it's because I did so much that first week! |

Not that I've experienced or heard others mention. The headaches aren't uncommon and can often be an electrolyte imbalance or dehydration.
What I experienced was hives! I lost pretty quickly in the beginning and I'm sure the stored fat was released toxins it had been holding onto for some time. I find when I have weeks where I lose more than 3 pounds, the hives come back, so that's my particular quirk. I suppose the muscle soreness and fatigue could also be related to dehydration or electrolyte imbalance too. ![]() |

I just had my first DD yesterday and had aches and pains yesterday and all day today. I just assumed it was detox pains as I usually get them when I've fasted. I plan on drinking a lot more water tomorrow for my second DD and see if I still ache. I may get some of that water with electrolytes in it.

Just a thought, when I feel icky I drink water that has 1/4 tsp baking soda in it. You can have that several times a day. It's the same stuff that's in alka seltzer without the extra chemical that makes it fizzzzz.... and it alkalines your body to help you detox. If you are super salt sensitive or have high blood pressure, it might not be for you. I experience no ill side effects from it and it's cheap. YMMV.

Way too much time on my hands!

No aches or pains from JUDDDing for me, either at the beginning or during. Nothing diet related, although I am one who is sensitive to changes in barometric pressure as those pressure systems fluctuate and move past, so sometimes the change in the pressure occurs over a short period of time, and that sometimes hurts me. My rheumatologist said some people are extremely sensitive like that, and he finds it more in people who have fibromyalgia, which I do.
Do you think your aches/pain could be related to the weather and the weather changes or pressure changes that we have so much of this time of year? I can't think of anything about JUDDD itself that would cause aches or pain. You are choosing the foods you want to eat, so unless some food choice isn't something your body can handle, I can't see why JUDDD itself would do anything. It's merely a plan of eating more on one day and less on the next.

Cinds, aren't you getting over a flu-type virus? Speaking from experience, the inflammation - hence the aches and pains - can linger days or weeks after the actual illness is gone.
Stay hydrated! Run an Internet search on anti-inflammatory foods and incorporate them into your meals. Stay bundled up. Run another search on inflammatory foods and avoid them. Force fluids to keep hydrated - every cell in your body has a lot of yuck to clear. (I like tea made from fresh ginger, turmeric, and hot spices to taste.) Yes, I am getting over the flu/cold, plus I had some major tension for a few days. I think it was due to a week of illness and the release of pent up tension. I think DD yesterday allowed me too "feel" my body and notice everything more. I took two IBs and went to bed. I am still a little tired this morning, but I feel much better.

I certainly didn't notice any that were different than the ones I have from my various medical conditions. Maybe some general yucky first couple DDs, but my body was just getting use to eating 380 calorie. I didn't start with 500 which may have helped. Like Nancy said, you are just getting over being sick so that is likely the culprit. Please feel better soon!

I have, dee. Way more, lol. If this trend continues, I might consider lowering carbs more. Had a no/low carb DD yesterday, which was a first since LC. That is, a first no-carb at all day...ate more calories tho, and didn't lose, at least not after the first day, which is silly anyway. We'll see overall.

I actually have better, lower cal, DDs when I work. Taking a lunch break is really a luxury I don't get often and I'm so busy I don't even notice if I'm hungry so going back to work may help keep you distracted- it works for me! I'm "hungrier" on the weekends, but that's just because I have time to think about it.

I hope so, Carly. However, tomorrow starts a week of people bringing decadent appetizers and desserts to work to share. Lol, can't win for losing (or gaining!)!

SO not true! You do deserve it!LG, I have noticed aches and pains when I have very much sugar or wheat foods. They just make me feel stiff and creaky. I'm adding more carbs in as I go, especially with holiday treats abounding, but still keeping it under control. And I've done it ever so gradually, so I haven't had an extreme case of it yet. That said, I feel like crapwarmedover today due to TOM. Can't blame that on JUDDD! ![]() |
