What a lovely post, Cindy! I feel the same way. So lucky to have found this WOE, this board, and all you wonderful JBs. Truly lucky and grateful.

Mary, I'm so sorry you're still struggling with that eye. Darnitall! I hope you'll be able to keep mending, and still enjoy your holidays.

Good Morning All!

Last night was not so good for me, ended up eating about twice what I should of for calories on a UD! DH is sick with a bad cold - need I say more I can truly say I ate because of him

This is the first time in many years that I have eaten so much when not even hungry

After being married so many, many years it is sad to be so darn mad at him!

Well, thanks for letting me unload!

Totally understood Leona, stuff happens. Just don't punish yourself by allowing it to spoil you DD. You know you love hime really, just move on.

Mary you are really having a tough time with that eye. I bet you can't wait to get those new spectacles. Sending good vibes your way.

Well I was pleased to see 125 this morning.

I am back in London and the scales here are much kinder always, I think there is about a .5 difference between them and my Devon ones. In any case, it was a nice number.

My husband is such a baby when he's sick-sends me over the edge

I just had a fantastic phone call! My 6 year old daughter has had slurred/hard to understand speech since she was a toddler. We had her evaluated when she was 3 and was told by the (very young) evaluator afterward that due to budget cuts with the school district, they'd adjusted the scale and she was in the 'fine' range Had her evaluated again when she was 4, and AGAIN when she was 5 last year. Was told over and over again her speech wasn't bad enough-even though everyone has difficulty understanding her and this has led to her avoiding other kids, lashing out in frustration etc. We even tried the medical route but our insurance refused to cover speech therapy.

She's repeating kindergarten this year and has the same teacher, who also used to be a speech therapist. This amazing lady has been our advocate since last year, trying to get my daughter extra help. She talked to the school's speech pathologist again this fall, and pushed to have her re-evaluated, yet again. The speech pathologist did that this week and just called me with the news that my daughter is getting the green light to get speech services This has been a battle we've been fighting for years and I'm sooo happy right now!

Haven't even started yet. This year we've been hit left and right with medical/dental bills and Christmas will be very small-I told my one kid that her present was in her mouth, with all her new fillings We had a bit extra this week so I was going to get a few things, but forgot that it was my mil's b-day so after getting her a present, having an awesome 'I've lost weight' trip at Goodwill and spending $50 there, and eating out TWICE yesterday , there's no extra money for Christmas gifts this week We did go cut down our tree yesterday so that's something, right? I think this year we will be those crazy people shopping on Christmas Eve!

I did most of mine yesterday and since we celebrate Chanukah, too- we exchanged a couple last night. The rest is for Christmas morning. I got a brand new- very nice digital kitchen scale and a mandoline slicer. I was asking for both of those

I'm thinking of postponing Christmas for at least another two weeks!

We've just moved my Dad into a care home and cleared out his flat - so much junk!!
I've booked me and DH a few days away for a desperately-needed rest but first we've my son's wedding next week. Doesn't leave much time for Christmas preparations!

My daughter did a bunch of Pintrest gifts. She found ways of making the cutest things out of old things around the house. This is how she did her "shopping" this year. Not bad for a 16 year old!!

I usually do a lot of dollar store shopping too. You would be amazed at what you can do there for a few bucks. Last years I got both of my sisters, a collander, spaghetti noodles, sauce, bread sticks, parmasian cheese, a new dish towel and dish cloth and a pasta spoon for under 10 bucks each. I put together a nice bath spa type thing for my mom this year....soap, lotion, body spray (all apple scented) a new scrubby, face mask, etc etc... 10 bucks!! They even sell the baskets to put them in, plastic or wicker!

I haven't baked cookies in a LONG time but started this week. DH asked if I had eaten all of the cookies last night. No silly, I put them in the freezer since it was DD and out of sight out of mind for me. Laura Bush's chocolate chip cookies were first on my list. YUM!!!

I was a vendor at a craft show on Saturday. I was busy but not too busy to notice how many seriously overweight young people were walking by. I wanted to share JUDDD with all of them but alas, that is not possible. I was very sad watching them.

DH is not following a diet but has lost a lot of weight in the past year. He can't wear his coaching shorts since they fall down without unbuttoning or unzipping. With a belt he has gathers around his middle. He still has too much abdominal fat in my opinion but he continues to slowly lose following no diet designed to lose weight at all. The difference? He is eating beef and pork that we raised as naturally as possible and eating eggs daily fromn our free range hens. Also some produce from our pesticide and weed killer free garden. I think he is living proof that what is going into our food supply does have an effect on the obesity problem in America. Just my anecdotal data from watching him.

oooh, that's a good idea! My mil is a teacher and I bet I could come up with a basket of teaching supplies for her, for pretty cheap! And my fil is a HUGE candy fan-maybe a basket of candy/chocolates? I know our local dollar store has those boxes of movie candy for $1 and their decent sized-I could get a few of those as space fillers and then buy some candy bars etc. You have my mind spinning with ideas right now lol.

If you have The Christmas Tree Shoppe where you are they have even better deals than the Dollar store for for making all kinds of gift baskets. They have great prices on teas, coffees, mugs, cocoas, candy, toiletries- everything including the baskets and all the wrapping items!

If your daughter is into crafts, they have a really nice section of paint and glitter and wooden bird houses to paint.....Yes ours has the movie candy too! Last year for my daughters bday she had a movie party, I put those candies in a basket along with a 5 buck movie from those bins at walmart and gave it to her and her friends!!!

So many things there you can do so much with lol!!!!!

^^^ Kissa, I know just how you feel. I'm touched by so much of what I read here, but sad because I just can't respond to everyone like I would like to.

I would like to at least say today how much I'm thinking about all my precious budds, whether they are going through a tough time physically (or one of their loved ones), or celebrating weight loss, or a new revelation about themselves concerning their eating habits.

I want you all to know I celebrate with you, cry with you, rejoice with you, and welcome you here too, if you are new. I'm "feeling" it all.....just don't always get to say it.....so....for what it's worth.....I love you all!

Ooooh such great ideas! We don't have a Christmas tree shoppe...is it just like a dollar store, Carly?

I will echo Kissa & Phyl...this is a lovely place with such lovely people. As a new person, it is such a friendly place to be. Thanks to everyone here!

I've been getting some good deals at my Wal-Mart too - in the reduced section! It is near the food section and has some real good stuff! i got a 1 # package of Uncle Bens Brown Rice for only $ . 75, also a twin package of Betty C. scalloped potatoes for $1.50! Got a can of mushrooms for 19 cents last week at a grocery store, then at Walgreens got some Turtles candy for $1.34 for a small box. I have a bigger box at home that I just keep filling - it is for our son! All food! I love the dollar store too, socks are nice for a guy, along with some after shave! So nice to read what others are doing!

Great to see you Phyl! You are always so nice to everyone here.
Also, thanks for the great affordable gift ideas, I wouldn't have thought of putting together gift baskets at the dollar store. Very creative!

I LOVE the dollar stores! Lots and lots of junk, but also some real gems there. And always always get my gift wrapping, bows, bags etc. there. Also, my Christmas cards.

Ulta has some $1 or $2 items that are great for making gift baskets with too. Hand creams, spray fragrance, soaps. I love that stuff. Last year I got holiday scented items and made baskets up (and got some for me too - candy cane hand cream, mmmmmm!)

Cindy and Phyl - you guys are so sweet. I always feel so much how caring you both are. I don't know what I'd do without this board and all the JBs. I know I wouldn't have been as successful on JUDDD. Maybe wouldn't even have stuck with it. Hugs!
